  • i love this song

  • I heard this song was about abortion. Lucy was an aborted baby. "I'd do it all different if I had the chance" is saying that he wouldn't have agreed to the abortion. But it could mean different things to different people

  • @bulldogsboi if it was abortion how is there a birthday?

  • @CdtStitches probably the expected due date.... a few days ago John told the story behind it at a show.

  • they said this song if for the listener to figure out and use it for their life no set meaning

  • I know the words to this almost by heart :).

  • yes its not about anyone in particular, leetbh explained it perfectly. john said that in an interview

  • @leetbh yeahh your right he told us at the consert(not this one :)

  • Just becuase John is singing it doesn't mean he wrote it. People forget this.

  • I feel like its an anti abortion song, where Lucy was murdered and he regrets it by projecting a birthday and a name on her.

  • john cooper said this song is one of the few songs that they do that is for you to discied

  • when you come to Brazil?

  • okay what? what's this song about? I'm a fan from texas :]

  • John Cooper won't say what it's about =(

  • It's about loosing someone you love.

  • its a bout a girl that he used to love.

she is now deceased and he is super depressed about it. all he wants to do is hold her and be able to see her. its also about how he would give up his whole life to see her looking at him one more time

  • girlfriend died and shes in heaven now and hes talking about wanting to see her again

  • No. Not even a little bit.

  • just listen to the fucking song

  • um..the lead singer is married u tard

  • @MarksmanFilms it's about his sister you retard

  • @MarksmanFilms no i asked Korey when i went backstage may 8th....she said Lucy is a fake character

  • I read an interveiw he did, and he said he wrote this about regret and doing things you could've done, like trying to say goodbye to someone who has died, or saying something you wanted to and missed your chance

  • my bad, apparently i was told wrong.

  • that's so sad...

    thanks for telling me!

  • The person who replied about Lucy being about a girlfriend of John's was incorrect.

John has not made an official statement about this song yet. He does not want to ruin what it may mean to someone.

The comment was removed, and hopefully anyone who DID see it will also see this, and not get any misconceptions about the song.

In fact, the song was written with abortion in mind.

  • yea i heard that too about the abortion lol its amazing were some people will get their ideas someone said it was about his wife that died! same thing with comatose and his wife leaving him people dont get he is married to korey

  • Lucy is the sister?

    that may be that Lucy

is the sister of the late John Cooper

  • Umm...you know you just said "the late John Cooper"? That means John Cooper would be dead...and he isn't.

Furthermore, Korey has confirmed "Lucy" is a fictional character.

  • sorry, i am of brazil and the google trasnlate

    translated wrong

    what the sister is dead

    my last sentence would be:

    deceased sister john cooper

  • Ah, it's always nice to see an international fan :)

Thanks for your support of the band.

  • @PanheadsOnline Lucy is his sister who died of cancer

  • I'm pretty sure John doesn't have a sister. His mom died of cancer, but this song is not about her.

  • @soonergirl112 he didnt have a sister

  • The song is about a girl who gets an abortion but has a deep sense of regret and loss afterward.

"I'd give up all the world to see / that little piece of heaven looking back at me"

"I've got to live with the choices I make / and I can't live with myself today"

"They said it'd bring some closure to say your name."

"I know I'd do it different if I had the chance."

How else can you interpret this song, really? It's pretty darn obvious.

  • i think its kinda universal

i can see what your saying though.

  • @thevisualedge i think theres a lot of meanings to the song for example it could be his mom and the choices line could be like how he has regret

  • @thevisualedge This song could also apply to say a guy who got drunk one night and got into an accident killing the one person in his life he loved and he regrets it. This song can be plugged into many situations. That is one of main things I like about Skillet is you can interperate their songs in way they may not have even forsaw someone seeing them.

  • sooo sad and soooo beautiful... made me cry.

  • i hope i get to see them live...

    i wonder who Lucy is??

  • In the song Lucy is a some dead girl. The whole song is about her being dead and the guy singing is at her grave missing her :'( I love this song

  • Man that stinks. Awake and Alive tour and most of the songs were from comatose and it's tour. Oh well still a rocking concert i'm sure lol

  • Did they not play how deep the father's love or angels fall down towards the end?

  • No, they did not have a worship song this time around.

It's a shame. No Sometimes, No Worship song, No Pre-Collide song and No Never Surrender, but I still had fun.

  • Wow this song sounds awsome live!

  • I can't wait to see them live now that Awake is out! I didn't think Skillet could get any better until I got Awake in the mail!

  • i love how he sings "hey lucy i remember your name" again at the end

  • Thanks for posting this!!

Ive been looking all over for it cause I herd it was phenominal Live! AND IT IS!!
