Excelente melodía! la escuche en un progama de radio con musica del recuerdo, ahora es de mis favoritas... solo una pregunta ¿los brazos de la chica son normales?
This works good if you die from drugs and alcohol before thirty, like the truly great legends always do. If they were still alive and performing not many people would come to see them though, doesn't that make you want to cry, Cry, Cry Baby, doot doot doot do, Cry Baby, doot, doot, doot, do. It sure makes me feel that way.
For Mamaw, I miss you so much each day that goes by. I know you are in no pain, and every time I hear this I think of you. Rest in peace my sweet, sweet angel!
as an atheist, this gives me hope. It really brings out that, well that anyone can get together and people just enjoy life. You know it's not so much the praise the lord part that gets me, it's just the togetherness. It's great. I love this song :)
@JimmyKeefe49 It's beautiful isn't it? Quite shocking at first glimpse, the glare. Paradoxically you really want to turn away from it but you can't. It's grabs you and won't let go. It's great.
MY MOM WHO IS IN HEAVEN NOW LOVED SINGING HANK WILLIAMS' SONGS.....I HEARD HER SING THIS SONG TO ME MORE THAN ONCE AS AND THIS SONG WAS WRITTEN BY HANK WILLIAMS WOW OLD BUT MOST POWERFUL TRUTH ABOUT SALVATION GIVEN TO US FROM THE GOD AND HIS PERFECT LOVE
SO THAT WE CAN EASILY SERVE AND WORSHIP AND PRAISE GOD FOR HIS LOVE!!!
i wish i could say i was around to see this, i honestly am embarrassed by my generation, we have no respect at all. my teacher, at school, had taught me many things, him and my father taught me repect, and i am proud to say that i am one of the few respectable kids of my generation, its really disapointing,
I play hard rock music but love all music, from classic to country. Just wanted to say that what happen to country music or just music with soul like hank williams. Now in day what they call country is like pop music. You could consider me the young generation, and i have to say learn from hank.
@willyrex1231 It's been a few years since I seen DCB open for 3rd. Day but I don't remember them doing this song. I would've gone crazy, check out Jamey Johnson versions,I paticularly like the farm aid accoustic version, it's awesome!
@MrRazorblade999 I am well aware of Hank's vices. We all have our devils. It is not having. been in the Dark House, but having left it, that counts. I see that Hank had some positive inspirations in him. Straight is the gate and narrow the way. You find your way through it or you remain a fool. It's all good. Only you lose if you don't wake up. Hank lost quite a bit but he did see something and perhaps is in the light again.
@MrRazorblade999 No it doesn't. Certainly not religion. God though has a very open, subjective meaning. I personally do equate the light to "God". I also suspect that you've seen the light but don't call it "God".
@zookeepin GOD has an open, subjective meaning? Listen to the song, straight is the gate and narrows the way. He wrote about the Biblical reference to the path to Jesus. I don't know if he believed in Jesus or not, only GOD knows Hanks heart.There is one path to God, not many! I do agree it's not about religion, it's about a personal relationship you can have with the LORD through Prayer, Studying GODS word, and Praise & Worship! "I am the way the truth and the light" John 14:6
@aaaaa0000000000 My intention was to be open an non-offensive to anyone who doesn't see God the same way as I do. God is Love. Love is not threatening. I believe in the straight and narrow path, and I am also aware of thorns and liars along that path who lead many away from it. I believe in the power of forgiveness and compassion for those who either go astray or are led astray. 'It is only with the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye.'
@zookeepin Making comments such as "God has a very open, subjective meaning" can be a destructive for a person seeking the truth as some of the vices/sin that keep someone separated from GOD. I'm not alienating anyone by sharing the truth of Jesus only "HE" can save us from hell, which we are all deserving of, and because of HIS Grace, not because of our good hearts or works, that we can be with Him in Heaven.
@aaaaa0000000000 I wish I could speak and not alienate anyone. Jesus had his troubles with his words and deeds being misconstrued and I have listened to the lessons he's parlayed. He's taught me to accept that my words will alienate some, yet the one's who open their hearts fully will listen to the truth that back my words. I am not Jesus, or anything Alimighty. I am a struggling, imperfect, faithful, sinner. I WILL alienate some. I feel their pain and pray deeply for them.
@aaaaa0000000000 there are many, many ways to live in god. saying you can only find holinessthrough one set of stories is just foolish. you wanna talk about false idols, jesus is the greatest example in my opinion. he has alot to teach but people are too busy with their emotional self flagellation at his feet, and too distracted by all the irrelevant bullshit the bible pulls away with. just my opinion, you can believe i'm going to hell if you like but -i- believe that's just ignorant.
@SeagullTheFreegull I don't know your heart, that is between you and Jesus. He is the only way! I'm not distracted by the "irrelevent bullshit" , i'm focused on the one Truth, there is not many paths to live in God, There is ony way and that is through the blood shed on the Cross for our sins. we deserved to be separated from God, However Jesus paid the price and I'm assured a spot in Heaven with HIM, for eternity! My Lord will stand the test & doesn't need to be defended,the battle is won!
@MrRazorblade999 try acknowledging that life is difficult and will not become the garden of eden and unending pleasure if and when you do see the light.
@katwarable kat, it makes me happy that you, or anyone, has seen the light. I did reply to you though: "It's the Jesus Christ drug, if you take him, you'll see the light". Let's say that I agree with that, Jesus is the answer. How about we demystify Jesus into a form that all faiths or struggling people can understand? We can keep it simple and call it Love. The entire bible, New and Old testament is that simple, God is Love. Call it incarnate Love in the name of Jesus if that works.
I was born May 1953, 4 months after Hank Sr died. He was 29. My family loved country music. I still have most of the 78 and 45 records from that time. Thanks Hank for all of your songs. RIP.
Praise the Lord, I saw the Light in 1969. I was a hell raiser, drinking Jack Daniel's more often than eating a square meal. My liver was dying, my soul was three quarters to hell. I was angry at everybody though it was my own fault. My wife had left me, though I had left her and the kids years before. One Sunday morning, almost unable to get out of bed, a voice told me, 'look at the light.' I looked at the morning sun and cried. Got dressed, went to Church and have never looked back.
Whenever Hank and the Drifting Cowboys would get close to home in Montgomery they would see the light at the airport. Hank would say "I saw the light!". I live near Montgomery and every time I ride into town I think about him, the loss of the greatest country music artist ever, and the guarantee that he is singing with the angels in heaven.
My Aunt had connections to Albert E. Brumley, knew him personally.
the Brumley sing has the details look up the concertas, we'd be glad to have ya
@capt777737 - Albert E Brumley wrote many timeless gospel songs, but this was not one of them. Perhaps you have it confused with I'll Fly Away. "I Saw The Light" was written by Hank Williams in 1948.
@capt777737 - Albert E Brumley wrote many timeless gospel songs, but this was not one of them. Perhaps you have it confused with I'll Fly Away. "I Saw The Light" was written by Hank Williams in 1948.
There'll never be another Hank Williams. What a testament to his talent that almost 60 years after his death we're still enjoying his music. How many of the "stars" of today will we be able to say that about?
The ZBB is the closest you'll get to country on the radio nowadays though other than Ronnie Dunn George straight and Alan Jackson. Listen to some Rascall Flats and Keith urban. That is not country!
The possum said it best though "Whose is gunna gill their shoes..." The old stuff is so much better (Too bad Hank the 3rd isnt doing much of what his grand-pappy did)
@HansBooBee While I understand the point you and countless others are trying to make, you gotta realize... We've always had music force fed to us. Especially since the advent of the radio. Even before that you could never escape what other people were writing and performing if you wanted anything to do with music. The faces have changed but the game by and large hasn't. You could say it's the difference of being force fed steaks or dog food, but that's more taste than principle.
I read that he wrote this song when he was traveling from one town to another and didn't think he would ever get to his destination and then saw the lights of the town and came up with the idea for this song.
I seem to recall Minnie Pearl stating she talked with Hank about that song, and his reply was he couldn't see the light....yes, his back pain played a great part in his death. Just think if he'd lived today with all the great advances in the medical world..
You forgot to mention that Roy Acuff is leading the singing. What year or What TV show is this? Is it Grand Old Opry and it has to be prior to January, 1953, because that's when Hank Williams died. Acuff calls it "an old camp meeting song," however Hank Williams wrote it. Considering his lifestyle, drinking, etc., that is a little bizarre.
Hank Sr. actually wrote quite a few gospel tunes, they just never were as popular as his normal honky tonk stuff. He knew what he was doing to himself was bad, but he also knew he couldn't stop. So he wrote songs an poems for and about salvation. If you want, check out Luke The Drifter which was HW's alternate recording name for the bulk of his gospel and religious stuff.
@Ranger01 I have to agree with you completely. It is so sad. Nowadays it could be said he was a neurotic by the psychological definition, but no matter the definition he was caught in the middle. How sad.
@Ranger01 It is never popular to follow the narrow road,and to take a stand for Jesus Christ and what is right,because we all have a sin nature we fight against. THE SPIRIT IS WILLING BUT THE FLESH IS WEAK.. I ONCE WAS LOST BUT NOW I AM FOUND,it is by GOD`S GRACE AND MERCY ANYONE GET`S INTO HEAVEN.
@TheFrontrowkid Williams writing the song is not bizarre at all. He was a believer but had serious back problems and was in constant pain. Self medication caused the drinking. So cut the man some some slack. Don't be so judgemental.
its from "The Kate Smith Evening Hour". the show was on the air from 1951-1952 and many of the opry stars appeard on the show. opry itself didnt start tv-broadcasting until 1955. this clip is from march 1952.
Very true.Praise the Lord I saw the light! Even a sinner like myself has a chance to walk the streets of gold someday.Everyone does too,just let Jesus in your life.
how can 142,000 people watch this with a straight face. this is just plain awful. the only light i wanna see , while watching this video, is the light of a gun barrell going off in my face
I wish Shelton (Hank 3) will see the light before he leaves this world! Countless comments have been made on YouTube, Myspace, Facebook and Twitter that...Hank Sr is up in Heaven smiling down on Shelton for sounding and looking like his Granddaddy! What people do not know is Shelton is a Satan Worshiper! Please pray for Shelton to come to Salvation and ask Jesus into his life! That will make his Granddaddy truly proud!
@21dopestreet I too think Hank III is a Satan worshipper. But, man, if he doesn't make some awesome music. Not like it matters to me, I sold my soul to Satan and in my oath committed the unpardonable sin so I might as well live a life of sin cause I can't see the light no more.
@metalupyourthrash everyone has a chance to go to heaven my friend all you have to do is accept that Jesus died for you and accept Him into your heart no matter how black it may be He WILL forgive you as long as you want Him to
What an ingnorant thing to claim, you don't think Senior would be proud of his grandson? III makes awesome country, metal, and punk music and plays many instruments. I sure as hell don't think Sr. is a Rascall Flats or Taylor Swift fan looking down from the clouds my friend.
@nyrangers731 the guy before you is right about hank the 3rd he may have the williams name but he IS NOT country he is very bad Southern rock. he sounds like a record where a needle has been dragged thru it one to many times and please dont put punk in the same category as hank sr. that my friend is an ignorant claim
No, Kid Rock is very bad Southern rock. Please give Hank III's "Broke, lovesick & drifting" album a listen, lots of traditional sounding stuff.
I also never said Sr. was in the category of punk- I said that he would be proud of his grandson. But while we're on the subject Sr. was punk....in terms of thought proccess, not sound of music.
Well now.. I see there's 1 devil worshiper! My God, who in their right mind would not like a spiritual song like this....... ANSWER: A devil worshiper....
When the presenter sang, his voice wasn't too clear because of the band and the acts clapping. But when Hank sung, he almost drowned everything else out lol. What a powerful voice he had.
this one's for you dad. RIP Kilb. You were the fucking man. Still miss you, still love you. See you soon mate xx

@THEFLYINGREDNECK

This is before all the superficial garbage. Why do people take the crap now days that's forced-fed to them?
HansBooBee 4 months ago

TheFrontrowkid 8 months ago
@TheFrontrowkid
Hank Sr. actually wrote quite a few gospel tunes, they just never were as popular as his normal honky tonk stuff. He knew what he was doing to himself was bad, but he also knew he couldn't stop. So he wrote songs an poems for and about salvation. If you want, check out Luke The Drifter which was HW's alternate recording name for the bulk of his gospel and religious stuff.
Ranger01 8 months ago 19
@Ranger01 I have to agree with you completely. It is so sad. Nowadays it could be said he was a neurotic by the psychological definition, but no matter the definition he was caught in the middle. How sad.
Bubblechaser6069 3 months ago
@Ranger01 It is never popular to follow the narrow road,and to take a stand for Jesus Christ and what is right,because we all have a sin nature we fight against. THE SPIRIT IS WILLING BUT THE FLESH IS WEAK.. I ONCE WAS LOST BUT NOW I AM FOUND,it is by GOD`S GRACE AND MERCY ANYONE GET`S INTO HEAVEN.
ilililhy1 2 months ago
@TheFrontrowkid Williams writing the song is not bizarre at all. He was a believer but had serious back problems and was in constant pain. Self medication caused the drinking. So cut the man some some slack. Don't be so judgemental.
TrueNovice 8 months ago 3
@TheFrontrowkid
its from "The Kate Smith Evening Hour". the show was on the air from 1951-1952 and many of the opry stars appeard on the show. opry itself didnt start tv-broadcasting until 1955. this clip is from march 1952.

21dopestreet 11 months ago
@21dopestreet I too think Hank III is a Satan worshipper. But, man, if he doesn't make some awesome music. Not like it matters to me, I sold my soul to Satan and in my oath committed the unpardonable sin so I might as well live a life of sin cause I can't see the light no more.
metalupyourthrash 10 months ago
@metalupyourthrash everyone has a chance to go to heaven my friend all you have to do is accept that Jesus died for you and accept Him into your heart no matter how black it may be He WILL forgive you as long as you want Him to
AustinLeePetno 9 months ago
@AustinLeePetno No, I don't think so. I blasphemed the Holy Spirit in my oath and you can't be forgiven for that sin.
metalupyourthrash 9 months ago
@21dopestreet
What an ingnorant thing to claim, you don't think Senior would be proud of his grandson? III makes awesome country, metal, and punk music and plays many instruments. I sure as hell don't think Sr. is a Rascall Flats or Taylor Swift fan looking down from the clouds my friend.
nyrangers731 10 months ago
@nyrangers731 the guy before you is right about hank the 3rd he may have the williams name but he IS NOT country he is very bad Southern rock. he sounds like a record where a needle has been dragged thru it one to many times and please dont put punk in the same category as hank sr. that my friend is an ignorant claim
AustinLeePetno 9 months ago
@AustinLeePetno

When the presenter sang, his voice wasn't too clear because of the band and the acts clapping. But when Hank sung, he almost drowned everything else out lol. What a powerful voice he had.
