  • How did you cut the steel as clean and accurately as it looks like you did?

  • @CaptBart After scribing the contours of the arcs, I simply cut them out using a saber saw with a 24 tooth metal cutting blade, then filed off any burrs, sharp edges, and noticeable irregularities. They really aren't perfect, like you would expect from laser cuts, but they are close enough for these experiments.

  • I'm already getting some scratches in the paint from moving the magnets into place, so I plan to lay down a protective layer of clear plastic sheeting between the plates and the magnets. I'll be making up a couple more plates, but I may have to order some more magnets, as I've already used up most of what I have. Could maybe do one more plate with what I have left.

  • @TheRickoff OH, well damn good job!

  • @CaptBart Well, thanks captain. I will be showing, in the Pipe Dream builder's documents, exactly how I laid out and cut these sheet metal arcs. It is basically the same as the method I used for laying out and cutting the birch flywheel, which is composed of three pieces, and which is already illustrated step-by-step in the builder's documents.
