  • the way you play it sounds just fine but i play the G5 C5 and Em7 as power chords. i think it give a richer sound, and if you play it with power chords you don't have to tune down, either way it sounds fine. Great video and voice man.

  • i loled at 2:53..hes like wtf?!

    good lesson btw

  • @average0citizen LOL, so did I!

  • This songs in such high demand. Everyone was telling me to learn it.

So, I had to watch this video about 3 times, but I finally got it.

    Thank ya Aaron (:

    -Ashley

  • i can never get the strumming beat right

  • ur really good man but the progression is Em G C then at the end of the verse is a messed up c chord its a chord on the 3rd fret not sure what its called but there all open... and the Em G and C are power chords...

  • @BottleMeetsFace Agreed, the verse is E5, G5, C5 played four times, then a few bars of D-add4 (fingered as x5403x). The chorus Em and C chords are actually played higher on the neck and are complicated (07x08x and then 8x007x), but check out videos and more recent tabs on ultimate-guitar.

The bridge is fairly easy in that the first part is just a variation on the Em of the chorus (07x08x -> 07x07x -> open B string) and the rest is variations on C-add9 (x3x05x -> x3x03x -> x3x5xx)

  • thanks a bunch man i've been trying to learn this song for a year and i understood it as soon as i watched this video

  • Hey, first thanks alot for this vid helped me alot.. But I'm still having big problems with the strum pattern together with the Palm Mute, have practised for about a week now and cant get it right.. You say you mute it when you wrist back up, at the upstrikes I guess?. So something like? Down, Down, Up/Palm mute, Down, Up/Palm Mute, and over to the next chord? Thanks

  • thanks but i dont undertand the link it says diffrent chords

  • Comment removed

  • this helped a lot dude, thanks. i scored with my "lady friend" cause i played this to her

  • My guitar is in tune, but doesn't sound like that ):

  • @InoxDeidara tune it half a step down :) its NOT standard g tuning

  • xD Dane Cook reference nice.

  • Good tutorial, altough it's not really how it's played by rise against. But its great for learning how to do the chords to this song.

  • dude this helped alot all the ways i saw had me playin these ridiculous chords if you havent already done it could you do a lesson for vermillion part 2 by slipknot thanx

  • thank you very much, this helped me ALOT! your efforts are very much appreciated

  • Dane Cook jokes and Rise Against music!!! you are my fucking god!

  • srry for being an asshole but i cant follow a fucking word you say so i stopped learning the song srry but you have no tabs up of the intro and your wording is way to aweful

  • Thanks for this Tutorial, has helped me get my head around what was written on the tabs. Now just to practice !

  • haha a 2:45 a car like screeches its tire

  • @1dean78 nope your wrong

  • is this the 100% correct version

  • this helped me SOOOO much. 5*

also, your a good singer :p

  • You did a great job teaching. =) Just remember to smile! =D

  • @07Love2sing don't tell him how to teach or i'll fight you cause im huge

  • Haha, I was unaware telling people to smile is a bad thing. If you would actually read my comment, I told him he did a great job teaching. Then just mentioned for him to smile because he was doing so well. There is no need to be irrational over something stupid like a comment on a video. =)

  • I belive you are right for the most part. But I doubt that theres an A in there at all seeing as the song is in G, relative to the capo. Ive replaced all ur A´s with Csus instead and i think it sounds more accurate.

  • what kind of guitar is that?

  • Hey tdizzle or watever ur name is. U use the capo then tune to standard and the. Wen u take of the capo ur Down half a step. U need to be lower than standard not higher. That's why u take off the capo. If that helps at all

  • duuude. cant you just keep the capo on the first fret and play like that? im having a hard time tuning the flats with my POS tuner.

  • Thanks man, I finally understood all the chords thanks to you, but I am having trouble with the palm muting during the verse. Any advice?

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks Man it made things so much easier on this

  • man really thx for ur video was awsome i will have to practice a lot im just starting but u explain it really cool

  • awesome teacher :) great, thanks a lot ;)

  • Амерканцы не могут сразу играть-пока напиздятся... млин))))

  • tune it with the capo if you wanna break your damn string like me :/

its easier to tune it standard but start at the 4th fret not the 5th

  • thx so much!

  • learned the whole song in 30 minutes !

Thanks to you ;) I needed to learn that for a girl ^^

  • @khdude2000 noticed same, dad is music teacher and he said the speed/beat of the song is hard and chords are kinda hard to play when u would neeed cap too, but think i might try this one and see whats its gonna be.. Think this is easier version then.?

  • Hey ive learned alot from you thanks alot for you lessons on youtube i went from not knowing a single song to being able to play like 15 songs now and a few from you so thanks a bunch for teaching can you put a lesson on for hero of war by rise against and stand by me by beny e king i thinks thats it but figer picking style that would be awsome thanks

  • After the "finger-picking", i play a normal G and i think that sounds a little bit more like the song :o But that's only what i think :P Thanks anyway ^^

  • Thank you so much, very helpful. Keep it up :)

  • Only part I cant do is the palm muting thing.

  • this is actually a really good tutorial, great job posting it, if i still gave attempts to play guitar, i would of tried this for sure, great work.

  • umm im not trying to be negative, but im pretty sure these aren't the legit chords. they sound good and are currently the same ones i use, but watch the video of them playing it. the chords are different. im just saying. this is still a good tutorial.

  • something that i also noticed too because with jimmy eat world's "hear you me" it's TOTALLY NOT EVEN THE SAME WAY PLAYED as i've seen tabs for... but idk

  • You've made it so easy to understand and with the link to the tabs - there's no problem to manage it!

    Thank you so much!
