Donna is the funniest companion the Doctor was destined to be travel with. She is witty and knows how to throw a good crack at someone when she's angry. Plus her name is brilliant. Donna Temple-Noble. Donna=Lady as in Madonna, Temple=Time or Temporary, then Noble is a synonym of Lord.
@damnthosedaleks Oh-em-gee I feel the same, but when David appeared on the show my life was complete! It's like I died, went to heaven, then came back to life so I could watch it.
Donna's story is one of the best things in Doctor Who. I hope they find a way to write her back into the show so she can return for the 50th anniversary.
I just want you to know, there are worlds out there, safe in the sky because of her. That there are people living in the light, and singing songs of Donna Noble. A thousand, million light years away. They will never forget her, while she can never remember. But for one moment... one shining moment... she was the most important woman in the whole wide universe.
XtheXthinggXx Yes! Thank god someone else who thinks this. She couldn't distance herself from her I'm "Cath Tate, mate" persona, and many of her episodes felt poor and languid ( the adipodes, the wasp, Rome et al. The best episode that series was " Midnight", and she wasn't anywhere near that plot. But, credit where due, the library and turn left were among the best of RTD.
I'm french so I didn't know Catherine Tate from her show but mostly from DW (I saw some of her stuff before I saw DW, but not so much), and I just though she was an interesting character. I don't know why but I can't stand Rose, and I like Martha, but the fact that the Doctor had a mate, a best friend, older than his previous companions, who could both joke around and be serious ... I found it really good ! And I think that Catherine Tate proved herself to be a great actress too.
@fullofroubless Silence in the Library was actually written by Steven Moffat. Even though RTD was the main writer for the show, he claimed that he never touched any of Moffat's work because it was that good.
@XtheXthinggXx It's alright you don't like her. I mean, she's my favorite companion and all, but to each their own. I honestly couldn't stand Rose...now THAT character was annoying.
Donna was one of the companions that sort of broke the stereotype of usual Doctor Who companions who fell head over heels for the Doctor. What happened to her is awful because she was one of my favorite companions.
@ashymolassy I agree. Donna i think was the only companion who didn't crush on the Doctor. I do like the running joke with the, "Oh, we're not a couple..." line.
Donna was so much better in some ways, because she didn't have that romantic tie to the doctor. of course, she cared for him as everyone does, but she didn't 'love' him and that, I think, is what made her.
donna was definelty my favorite companion. she was so independent and i loved that abou ther she wasnt like rose or martha who fell all over themselves falling in love with him (even though i LOVE martha the actress that played her was simply gorgeous) i never really truely identified with rose and didnt quite get why the doctor loved her so much and not martha
but the fate of donna is so heartbreaking worse than dying in my opinon..
Donna was the character I identified w/ most from all the Dr. Who series. I thought it was one of the most sad and touching moments of the entire run when she lost her memories of the wonderful things she had done. Don't know why they felt the need to sh** on her like that.
im sorry for the fate of donna but if she didnt forget/die or lose the doctor then she'd end up being his companion for ever basically like rose tried to be
@riaminal I disagree. Unlike Rose, Donna did not have a romantic tie to Dr Who10. As Tate herself once said in an interview, Donna recognised that the Doctor was an alien and did not feel as humans did. I would argue that Donna was not the Doctor's companion so much as the Doctor was hers.
@GreeboSanders Yeah, I've been reading the wiki. I'm so hooked. I go from one link to the next and before I know it, I know all this stuff and haven't even finished the 1st article. It's fun and exhausting :-) Thanks for the suggestion.
I feel bad for martha the doctor ignored her a lot because he was sad about rose leaving and in a deleted scene I have seen she says he looks like James bond and he says thanks or somthing like that then she says do you like my dress he says fantastic then pulls somthing out of his pocket and says I thought I lost this then she just look sad because he ignored her.
Er... yes I did? It's kind of the truth. I didn't like Donna when she first started out - But after she had grown so much as a Person, and 'turn left' showed us WHY she acted so obnoxious, it broke my heart to see her lose all that...
Oh, and one more thing, just so you know, I'm not a 'he', I'm a 'she'.
Great tribute to the greatest companion of the new series! 10th doctor and Donna were just such a great duo, hilariously funny and very balanced. She was a force on her own, challenging the Doctor oh so many times, a real "mate" to him
Her fate is really one of the saddest things that could happen, she had grown so much and yet had to return to what she was before... Pretty cruel for the doctor too: he essentially had to kill his best friend
I still think Donna Noble (if there's any justice on TV) will make some sort of return. I thought it was such a cheat that she go back to her mediocre life after doing so much with the Doctor. I'm certain that many fans, not only
I, want to see Donna return, if just for a short time, to the Tardis again. I also would like to see the Doctor's daughter aka Georgia Moffett make another appearance if she isn't too busy snogging David Tennant. ;)
Well Steven moffat has said that he realy likes Donna, so he might make her a recurring character. But its doubtfull since he would have to come up with a good reason as to why she wouldn't travel with him forever as she would if she could remember without dieing. If he did that it would take away the effect of the end of season 4 so its probably best just to leave her.
Nah, any clever writer can come up with a good plot device to make anything happen. Christ, look how often the Daleks came back ( and don't think Matt Smith will have a turn at them ). I think Donna could make a return---it wouldn't be difficult. Even David Tennant could return as the Doctor if he wished (it's possible).
You have a point but I still think it will ruined the awesome ending of series 4. So far RTD has done an okay job at bringing the Darleks back but he done so too damm much. SM would do a great Darlek epiosde but hes letting Richard Curtis do it and it somes realy bad. Something about nice Darleks helping Churchill During WW2 and Matt smith being stupid enough to try and hit it with a slegahammer. If they do the same thing with Donna it would be a disaster unless SM done it himself of course.
The Daleks ALWAYS get brought back, but so far, few companions did. You can't compare Villain-Joker-Imunity to bringing back main character who have finished their storyarcs. So far, only Sarah Jane got brought back - Rose doesn't count as the whole of the new Series could be counted as her "character arc". They won't bring her back after that sad little scene in EoT. I think it would ruin everything to bring her (or Donna) back again - things need good endings for them to be meaningful.
What do you think about Martha? I know its unlikely any of them come back but I think of all three of 10's companions her return would be the easiest to make.
Even if Moffat liked Donna, RTD has said that he doesn't think that any of his Characters will be returning. I'd say that Jack is too popular for him NOT to come back, but Donna's ending wasn't "a cheat", it was a brilliant plot twist that squeezed all of us through the emotional torque. Moffat knows better than to ruin that - and judging by River's reaction to Donna's Name, he doesn't plan to, either.
I still feel that Donna Noble may yet have her memories restored, it's still open as a plot even if for an episode or two. The jury's still out on this one though it's too bad she and David Tennant will have no more outings since their chemistry was just so good together.
you british people have such crude humor. I like it. lol. nothing in the states beats Monty Python. the closes thing is National Lampoon and Caddyschack, and those were made in the 80's
LMFAO, "There really should be one of those in the Tate." AHAHA, I get it! Cause there's a museum called the Tate Gallery and her name is Catherine Tate!
People said exactely the same thing about Christopher Eccelston. The main reason Dr Who has lasted so long is because it isn't the same..... that's the point! The Dr never gets old/dies and you can go anywhere in time = infinte story possibilities.

The jury's still out on this one though it's too bad she and David Tennant will have no more outings since their chemistry was just so good together.

she acts just like she would in real life, that's what I've noticed about Donna.

you british people have such crude humor. I like it. lol. nothing in the states beats Monty Python. the closes thing is National Lampoon and Caddyschack, and those were made in the 80's

Great vid! I'm hoping the healing machine in "End of Time helps her remember without dying. AND" they don't kill her off in the finale.

Never in the history of the new series has any writer killed off a main character. :) Listen to the commentary of doomsday. :)

Hope RTD isn't going to be the first! Other than the Doctor himself, she's my favorite Doctor Who character.

Damn. Pretty good.
I'm gonna miss Donna.

Doctor Who hasn't been the same since Tom Baker.

People said exactely the same thing about Christopher Eccelston. The main reason Dr Who has lasted so long is because it isn't the same..... that's the point! The Dr never gets old/dies and you can go anywhere in time = infinte story possibilities.
