  • Ey amigo, gran interpretación, pero prueba con pedales análogos y menos distorsión, seguro encontrarás una mejor opción en sonido. Bendiciones.

Hey friend, great performance, but prube with analog pedals and less distortion, sure to find a better option in sound. Blessings.

  • @colombiarmonica Muchas gracias amigo. I already did this at on a James Tyler through a Bogner Shiva on youtube.

    Todo esta bien

    los mejores deseos

  • i like it! sounds like daft punk! :))

  • ahhhh yes... the very man who taught me foundation degree music along with Caroline Guirr, amazing tutors to have.. Gateshead College is the best!!! (yeah... pity I'm still into radio) ah well.

  • Great tone... sweet video editing.. super play!! :)

  • Pretty Guitar. Nice touch, with the strap.

  • Pretty Guitar.

  • @threethreefive Thanks for the new one just for me. I feel honored. another great job and the tone is great on the new video. You're a great player. Keep up the good work

  • Very good played, is this some kinda fuzz effect?

  • Great job ... how could one get an MP3 of your backing track ... would be glad to pay for it ... thanks.

    Donnie ... : )

  • Great Job!

  • That is a beautiful guitar

    :)

  • nice backing track,.. where is the backingtrack from?

you play verry well,.. greets Raoul

  • great way to play guitar!!!! loved it... Cartlon would be proud!!! :)

  • Great!

  • Is that a Variax custom? Cool!

  • Superb! How did you figure out how Carlton plays it? I wouldn't know where to start. Excellent!

  • im loving this Tom got all the lads boucing aboot the place..

  • Good Tom. I am learning this song now with the "popular backing track" the gp5 tablature and your video. I have listened to this song since I was a kid and have finally bit the bullet. I find that I am getting through the song rather quickly but it is not the complexity of the riffs that need special attention as much as the technique of spacing and technique of bending and tone. You do not appreciate this talent of Larry until you try and learn this song. Good job and thanks for posting.

  • how do u get so much sustain?

  • Good job man!!!! good feel and good tone.....

  • to each his own.. for me this song is beautiful

  • I agree it's almost as good as Justin Timberlake

  • THANK YOU FOR THIS VID! I just learned how to play this rockin song!

and i'm a strat thru a marshall fan myself! but right now i'm running thru a mesa stilletto duece! which provides a similar tone to a marshall with the right settings

  • bravo !!!

  • should put a roland synth set up on it

  • Nice microtonal bending

  • Very Nice! The best cover version I've ever heard.

  • Your tone is awesome, what gear are you using? :)

  • Thanks. it's just a Variax 300 through a Pod XT Live.

  • What..?! It can't be! :D Sounds too good.. :D

  • Cool! That sound is so good for soloing, very "light" but still very responsive and fully sounding.

  • Digital fan? :)

  • Yep. I still like a Strat thru a Marshall but this rig is more versatile... and easier to get on a plane.

  • wow you don't need a pick with those nails! that's cool!! great playing btw!

  • Nicely Done!! but what are the chords in the intro?? i'm looking for the chords now a very long time... and i'm a piano player thats why the chords.

    Kinds Regards from matthijs

  • Hi Matthijs

I've transcribed the opening chords in a piano kind of way, then the rest of the chord symbols. Look up transcriptions on carolineguirr website.

  • which chords are you playing?

  • All of them.

Sorry, seriously I've been asked before and I meant to put them on the website. I promise I'll do it.

  • At last, I've posted the chords to the intro on my website. The others are listed there too, though not tabbed.

  • You have to play open E. It sounds different as Larry himself said.

  • WELL DONE!

  • nice job on you version also Tom

  • Very good Tom.Less vibrato is required.Good effort though.Played that track many a time. All the best.Andy in scotland.

  • Excellent... glad I decided to click it and watch. I tried to cop 335 and stopped trying. Maybe it's time to give it another go.

  • wow ! really impressive ! you're warmoth is so beautiful !!! i love it ! very nice playing by the way :)

  • Where's the pickups, under the pickguard?

  • There aren't any pickups. It's a Line 6 Variax 300 transplanted into a Warmoth body/neck. So is the white one I'm playing on the live version.

  • Obviously the guitar wasn't recorded at the same time as the video was. So the guitar we hear in this video could be coming from anyone (for example from yourself).

Anyway, thanks for the good video. Only one question: How many takes did you need for the recording of the guitar?

  • The guitar was recorded at the same time as the video, straight into Pro Tools. The camera is a little Sony DSC T70S stills, used in video mode. I recorded three takes, each one with the camera in a different place. I put the three camera takes and one sound take into iMovie, then chopped the video into ten-second lumps in iMovie and swapped between the angles. Look at the counter, the switches are exactly ten seconds. The sound is just not from the little camera's mic.

  • great f..king suond!!!

  • Tabs and changes NOA!

  • Good playing Tom, certainly better than the (live) Sorrento Frankenstien version.

    Cam.

  • Where did you get that backing track?

  • We recorded it ouselves. It's Caroline Guirr on Keys, Campbell Martin on Bass, and Craig MacDonald on Drums. The same people playing it on the Sorrento Frankenstein vid, tho' the sound is a bit homeopathic through that little videocam mic.

  • homeopathic?

  • Yeah. Diluted by the tiny camcorder mic to where the sound contains very little of what could be heard in the room.

  • Cool demo. Please do tell about the body woods used (body, laminate top) and if you stayed with the original LR Baggs bridge. By the way, I saw one somebody created using an Earvana adjustable nut to keep things pretty much in tune all the way up the neck. No reflection on your playing man - sounds great - but I did notice things getting a little sharp past the 12th fret. Earvana nut would solve this - just my 2¢ - good luck and great playing.

  • Thaanks for your kind comments. I do have a Warmoth/Variax with an Earvana nut on, it's the white one hanging up in the Waves vid and on my site. It was such a pain to file down that I went for the precut corian on this one. They do work great though. The body is swamp ash with maple lam. The neck is all AAA maple with gold frets. I fitted locking Sperzels and kept everything else Variax 300 (including the original bridge) but I ditched the battery compartment. All the best. Tom

  • Tom are those the gold frets that Warmoth offers or am I just seeing reflections of some gold color in your room? I ordered the gold frets for my own project which should be ready mid-March 2008 and I'm curious to know how you like them if that's indeed what they are.

  • Yep, they're the gold Warmoth frets and they're great. I still prefer the really tall stainless steel ones they do but I was going for the over-the-top blingy look on this one. If it's your first Warmoth you won't be disappointed. All the best.

    Tom

  • cool man...you play really nice

  • Thanks

  • Aye canny!

  • Aye, canny!

  • Umm wat guitar is that were the fuck are the pick ups???

  • Like I said in the info, it's a variax 300 chopped up and stuck in a Warmoth body/neck (frankensteined). It makes a great guitar. Good luck with your playing (and spelling).

    Cheers

    Tom

  • Good tone and excellent cover ~!
