On paper, these companies pay a LOT of taxes, but in reality they use loopholes to get out of paying them. Often paying NO taxes. The system is broken, and Obama is going to fix it. It's not punishment. The corporations are the one's who've been punishing US: by cheating the system.

If they are forced into downsizing (it's necessary) and focusing on energy efficient cars then they might have a shot.
