  • this feels like my life

  • This song was a great sketch of late80s/early90s life...Acid, Joseph Campbell, BH surfers...Thanks Ann

  • sooooo great i love bongwater and especially ann magneson as an actress.my fav song by them is chicken p***y from the power of p***y album/disk.i guess i just dated myself with that album reference.

  • thanks so much for posting this! x_X

  • I used to love Bongwater. I wonder what ever happened to them....

  • Really nice, thanks for putting this up!!

  • Quite possibly the best song ever. Just superb. The combination of Magnusson's voice, Kramer's arrangement, and those amazing lyrics is almost overwhelming.

See also Nick Cave Dolls, from the same album.

  • 0:20, Yes - Roundabout ?

  • I went to high school in LES a few years after powerpussy. This song always reminds me of that age.... tomkins sq. a mix of gutterpunk squaters, skaters, skinheads, grubby hippies, a few stray ancient beatniks, latin kings all in one unstable but vibrant atmosphere.

  • Thank you so much...

  • i listen to this every time i have a bad day

and every time i have a good one.

  • @EveryEffort ...u r a person of taste my friend, hope u have had a good day today.

  • This number is a mini-masterpiece. Few things in rock music can match it. The video is OK, but Ann's conception & performance is as good as rock music can get. She nails America's childish sexuality to the wall.

    Thanks, Ann. John Mood

  • She's a prophet, goddess, my fairy godmother, muse, I love, love, love her. I lost this cd somewhere in my room and I'm tearing my hair out trying to find it!

  • "Life at FIve"? "Regis and Kelly Ripa"? SOMEone didn't pay attention to the lyrics.

  • It was a joke.

  • @dgartner1 this is from the early 90s when these shows were popular

  • @hallowfreaks

I get it. But back in the early 90s, the show was Regis and Kathy Lee, NOT Regis and Kelly Ripa.

Also, the other show's name is "LIVE at Five," NOT "LIFE at Five." If you're going to display lyrics, at least TRY to get them right.

  • I have loved this album for 20 years now. Ann Magnuson set the bar for many a failed relationship.

  • It's funny that you've loved it that long, especially since it came out in 1991.

  • Yeah, yeah. Way to split hairs over a lousy year or two.

  • ive just started to re-listen to it and it makes my walks to work divine, i feel happier, i smile more....hello

  • On my top 10, for sure!

  • seriously, anyone, i'm a slut, you know, but in a really good way

  • i still want to marry anyone that loves this

  • Will u marry me?

  • i seen them doo this live @ the riverside in newcastle i think thay played with no means no .. well good gig

  • Neat.

  • I love this song. :)

  • Love you that you put this up. I like your instincts.

    ... was watching, Well done!

    Few tings:

It's "have you seen your tomb"

and "We held the crystal Tine child"

or" And maybe you wanna say no to drugs to or maybe just one "Joint".

Cheers to you! "Hey People- WAKE UP"

  • Thanks for the kudos and the lyric help. I did my best to figure this stuff out, pre-internet!

  • @sirjsk

Don't want to be the one to break this to you, but each one of your lyric suggestions is incorrect.

  • @sirjsk The lyrics are printed in the CD booklet and they pretty much match what's already in this video.

It's "help you sing your tune", "we held the crystal Tina Chow spent 12 grand to buy" and "and maybe you wanna say no to drugs too or maybe you just want to join Atheists of America".

  • Comment removed

  • @sirjsk What is chrystal Tine child? I know Tina Chow was into chrystals and designed expensive chrystal jewelry that was being sold at the time this song was written, so that actualy makes more sense to me.

  • @sirjsk Pretty sure it's "Held the crystal (designer and model) Tina Chow spent twelve grand to buy"

  • i hate this "college rock" term that has been used with these guys, in theUK, we call this"par for the course on LSD"

  • not in this part of the uk

  • lol.

  • First heard this in the late 90s, by the way thank you for posting this most righteous video on youtube, and was instantly hooked on Bongwater. Anne is a gifted lyricist, and sage with descriptively: acidic-social-commentary-satirical-scorn :)

  • F'n hilarious. I love Bongwater, and bless Ann Magnuson for calling out Pretty Woman. I hate that damn movie.

  • Bet you can keep it up all night, can't you?!

  • sucking and shopping, sucking and shopping, sucking and shopping...

  • This was really well done

  • Very nice. Love this song.

  • Performance artist-turned sitcom star Ann Magnuson on the mic, self-indulgence tempered by the genuine enthusiasm evident in the experimenting. So 80's.

  • The Butthole Surfers and Bongwater! 2 great bands that I love!

  • F'in Awesome! I admire your attempt to take on (and succeed in doing so!) this epic song!

I'll be spreading this vid all over the internet!

    DEREK

  • "Power of pussy" is highly recommended, love that fookin' album, great video

  • My favourite song of all time. Thank you

  • Hey thanks - it was a spontaneous bit of work 5 years ago that I enjoyed very much. Glad you liked it.

  • I Break for Bongwater

  • wow, to take on FOLKSONG...i'm impressed by your ambition.
