  • arpeyyygiator

  • got both :D

  • i got the lpd8... works great!! getting my lpk25 soon. i use ableton and it comes in handy A LOT!

  • works with reason 5 ?

    D:

  • Just got my LPD8 .... LOVE IT it really is built well much better than the korg.

  • I had a korg nano pad ..midi mapped with serato it didn't last long.. got another nano pad and that one didn't last either.... switched to Akai LPD8 ... had it for over a year still going perfectly ... best

  • I just got a BRAND NEW Korg Nanopad, and almost all the pads are dead. Maybe 3 or 4 work correctly, but they don't even feel good. I've made a huge mistake.

  • lpd8 is awesome. i love it. wish it had led feedback so it would be more useful for djing. which is what i use it for.

  • brill --- i got akai lpk25 but i just need lpd8

  • @xMASSxDx187x To bad since the MPK Mini is already out

  • I want to start making music, prefarably dubstep, or electronic music, are theses suitable for a begginer? would i need to buy both or just the keyboard on?

  • @MrRyanLofty Have u decided on a DAW yet?? before u buy anything.....

  • will this work to control the FX and looping in serato scratch live? thanks

  • Comment removed

  • @tomskatesstreet666 these arent synths m8 (sorry if you know that) they have no sounds in them they control computer programs using midi data, they just make the workflow better/different

  • i understand that Midi is not Audio, however, its used for mostly Audio products, so the two terms are synonymous, y'all music geeks need chill out.

  • Look @ the blue guy's pants?!

  • He's happy?

  • where is the midi connection??

  • it works over usb

  • does this work with fl studio 8??

  • Yes, it works with FLStudio... It connects via USB, and comes with a driver CD to emulate true MIDI and so it shows up as a control surface in FLS. Good stuff...

  • Damn nice price, might invest in this, seems like the perfect setup for someone starting.

  • I want the LPD8 but there is not FULL LEVEL button!

  • What does that mean?

  • It means that it plays the pads at full volume no matter how hard or soft you press them. I was able to adjust the levels in Reason tho so I guess a FULL LEVEL button is necessary but it would be helpful.

  • Oh I see. I think you mean it has no velocity settings, right? I don't know if that would matter to me much with this device personally.

  • FULL LEVEL is having the velocity at 100% no matter how hard or soft you push.

  • For full level you can either send it via a CC# or On/off. This is standard Midi.

  • Do you know how to do it? I don't have enough experience with MIDI. I have just been turning them up in Reason one by one but it's rather tedious. Please help if you can.

  • Unforyunately, I don't have it (yet) but I can tell you I'm a99,9% positive there is a MIDI VOL setting for the pads that reads 0-127.

Look in the software/settings for the pads and set that parameter to 127.

Wish I could help more...I'll take a look at the manual when I have time.

  • 100 setting should be full level. I think 127 is overkill tbh. Any of your midi instruments will usually peak the buss if you send 127 vel to it. I guess it just depends what you're trying to do.

  • Sonny, MIDI is not the same as audio. There is no "peaking".

    In MIDI parameters 127=100 %

  • When did I say Midi was audio? I didn't say Midi would peak. I said the instrument would peak overloading the bus. Midi was designed for recording performance data. The 27 above 100 is for harder strikes on a keyboard (experssion from performance). Like I said, it depends what he's trying to do. Why am I even debating this? If he's trying to max the instruments output and potentially overload the mix bus, then I guess that's what he wants.

  • Well, when you say "100 setting should be full level" and say it'll "Peak the Bus" then you're speaking of audio.

Now you said "The 27 above 100 is for harder strikes on a keyboard "

Well, isn't that what he's asking for?

    100% Volume? Like I said.

    in MIDI 127= Full volume.

FTR, it's not debating, We're just trying to help the guy so don't get all butthurt ;)

but In the future you shouldn't say that MIDI would "peak the bus" or "overload the mix bus"because it sounds ignorant.

  • Ok master

  • Love these controllers, durable products, way to go AKAI!!! It would be nice, since all these operate via USB, if the manufacturers would include some sort of USB hub technology in the controllers. Make it easier to daisy chain, etc... I'd pay an extra $10 for that feature... AND would be great to have 90 degree USB connector cables for optimizing desk space!

  • they should give you a job!!!

  • LOL!!!! I won't charge them for this one, but the next one is gonna cost them... :-)

  • I have the korg nano key and the Akai lpd8, And I prefer the Akai line, korg feels light and cheap while Akai feels solidly built and more comfortable.

  • korg nano is built cheap.... akia is the way to go...

  • @dnbseg i agree i had a nanokorg and the keys came off one day for no good reason

  • @dnbseg right, i was planning on buying the nanopad and nanokontrol. I already have the lpk25 and its great so i decided to get lpd8 instead of a nanopad. but is there any alternative to the NanoKontrol? because i like the features and shit

  • Have anyone tried these with Logic? I´m using Logic Express 9.

  • @TheBonesShow they are both compatible

  • so is this one better than the korg nanopad?

  • no the korg nanopad has 4 more than the akai lpd8

  • and an X Y pad

  • Really depends on whether you value that the Korg has more pads, or that the akai has knobs instead of the touchpad. Knobs will let you control more parameters at the same time with it though

  • does the arpeggiator sync with track tempo automatically or is its tempo all based on tapping??

  • i just bought the lpd8 and im having difficulty figuring out how to program it

  • @MachinaSapien same here

  • what program do u use or do they come with sounds already?

  • arpageyator?

i don't think thats how you pronounce it haha

  • Oh God you're dumb........ How did you make it this far in life without killing yourself????

  • these blow the shit out of the korg nano series. and normally i'd take korg over akai any day

  • the keyboard certainly looks better than nanokey

but the nanopad beats their version, unless you'd like to have the eight knobs instead of more pads and the x/y controller

the snare roll on the nanopad is nice, plus controlling effects in a fashion like the kaoss pad

  • Hell yeah, HID compliant.

  • where cna i buy them are they out in store yet???

  • you can get them at guitar center :)

  • G*d no, a Korg copy that's sturdier and more knobs and functions.

Why would you need so many knobs, all at once?

  • using ableton live,

    effects

    nuff said<3

  • uhhhhhhhhh

    mixing and panning?

    synth/effect modelling?

getting as far away from the mouse as possible while concentrating on the feel sort of like playing a racing game with a wheel.

  • @Hyper5nic What a retarded question....

  • @hismastersvoice88 Wrong answer.

  • no more broken key nano key

  • I agree, about the rep. I think there will always be physical gear though ;)
