  • what kind of pickup r u runnin and do u have on board electronics

what kind of amp are you pushing this through

    cause this sounds beautiful

  • I love your HD videos because i can see finger placement and string vibration a lot better, but this is so great, im learning this solo and comfortably numb both from you, so thanks :D

  • upload the patch

  • Thanks, man))) Please, would you tell what kind of amp do you use?)

  • Thank you, kind man!!! God bless you!)

  • thank you so much this is one of my fav pink floyd song

  • Thanks for all your videos, I found out about Pink Floyd a few years ago and now I can't listen or play anything else anymore. Your skills are amazing.

  • Hey Master, I just record my solo, thank you for the lesson.

  • Just fantastic tone and wonderful technique. I bow down to you!

  • This song is too hard.

  • @Sceptile89 it really isnt a hard solo... it is just that epic that it makes you feel inferior... pink floyd's "time" solo is the greatest solo of all time. in second is their own "comfortably numb" solo... almost equally epic

  • @noangeldustneeded uhmm i'll have to disagree and make comfortably numb #1, im learning both and comfortably numb and time flow nicely for the fingers but c.n. has wayyyy more complexity, and it lasts for over 2 minutes so IMO, comfortably numb takes the cake, also, it sounds so amazing live, i had the privilege to see roger waters in december, soo great!

  • @Sceptile89 Well it's like Homer Simpson said. "if it's too hard, It's just not worth trying at all." just kidding. keep trying.

  • @Sceptile89 lol i agree

  • which amp do you use? man, amazing. simply GREAT, thx

    Greetings from Italy

  • Muito bom cara, aprendi o solo acompanhando suas instruções, está de parabéns.

Vida longa a David Gilmour!!!! Pink Floyd para sempre!!!!

  • david has some of the nicest solos ever

  • 5 stars man - fantastic stuff.

  • Congratulations, that's a fantastic job.

Now I will learn the solo "time" and after I will do my first upload on youtube.

    thank you very much

  • grreat job very organized..thanks bro

  • what tabs do you use and can you post them (or the link)

  • well its is a good video dont get me wrong its just in the first segment you have all 3 of your fingers on the fret board. Now I can see that your doing the bend on the 3rd fret but you put your ring finger on the 4th fret probably just out of habit but if you dont have the tabs infront of you its hard to see.

  • Distortion, chorus, delay, instead of chorus a lille flanger thrown in would sound cool

  • Nope, use a nice distortion, slight delay and a rotating speaker effect.

  • What key is it in?

    what effects are you using?

  • this really helped me. thank you very much duey101.

  • what kind of strings are those?

  • this really helped me!!

  • but section 3 is a bit confusing

  • Thank U !! , Really Really Awesome

  • hey thank you, such a great thing youve done, peace and love form canada man

  • thanx so much for this lesson i really appreciate it!

  • this is great, really. but do you think you can make an actual lesson breaking it down more??? it's often kinda difficult for me to copy just by watching. I hope yo don't take this too personally dude.

  • Nice job! Was great the way you broke it down too with the written verbiage for clarification! Appreciate it! :)

  • helpped a lot dude! thanks!

  • this really helps ALOT. thank you!

  • AMAZING,AND CLEAN!

  • thanx for ur tips....i managed to get the same tone and even the classic tones from the echoes days and i made them all on my gt8 and my m using a marshall gfx 100

  • thank's x post ¡¡ great video.

  • Thanks a lot for posting this beautiful solo and for sharing your knowledge!!! Peace

  • Comment removed

  • patchs for efects?

  • Excellent thanks mate.

  • I do agree "This is a really nice tutorial"! I also use the XT Live myself. These things are awesome! Nice tone!

  • Great job ! Thanks and congratulations !

  • Thanks a lot man... keep postin... this is gonna change my life... believe it!!!! Peace out!

  • what kind of pedal do u use for this solo?

  • I use a POD XT.

  • @duey101 ok thanks but... settings?

  • @duey101 but the settings?

  • Well, I know whose videos I will be checking out to find out how to play all those cool Pink Floyd solos!

Excellent tutorials! As accurate as it can get! The slow speed makes the PF sound even more trippy!

  • Awesome lesson!!! Very nice guitar, very good long sustain! I have to learn this solo, it's simple but amazing!

  • Great lesson you have that tone down

man. I wilbe checking you out again.

    Thanks.

  • this is really good..thanks

  • is there a tab that goes with this this is good but it would be better with a tab

  • i think the tuning is a full step down... on standard tuning its a bit high when i try it

  • No, just standard tuning. If I play this along with the original CD it is in tune. David used standard tuning on this.

  • Hey Duey thanx for your time and teaching this great solo!

  • It is a good idea to turn the guitar a whole step down?

    Shine On

  • hey man nice vids and playin. what gauge strings do you use?

  • I use D'Addario Xl 120 strings

  • oh that really helps, one of the best pink floyd lessons here:)

  • hehe thanks man a question can i play that sound in my boss me 50 ???

  • well i dont know the boss me 50 but i have a boss gt-5 and i can create a sound almost like that =)

  • hey man what is the pedal that you use the sound is soo cool

  • I use a POD XT with my own custom patches. :-)

  • POD XT is around $300. Know of any $100 or less?

  • Maybe a used one on Ebay

  • Yeah I bought one for about $200 Canadian.

I know, my response was within 25 seconds. I'm pro like that.

  • Hey Duey been paying for two years now, wishing all lessons were like yours F--- ing "A" Question:beginning beginning segment 3 your sliding from 5to7 with your two fingers onstrings 1 and 3 are you playing the 3 bottom strings looks like your index is on string 2and after the slide are you playing all three bottom strings again. any help appreciated. nice to see you reply to so many.again fantastic lesson cant wait for comfotably numb

  • Thanks, please tell your friends. :-) On that slide my ring finger is on the 1st string and the index finger is on the 3rd string, I am only playing those two strings on the slide. My middle finger is actually touching the 2nd string slightly to dampen it so it doesn't play, the tone comes from only the 1st and 3rd strings.

Comfortably Numb is uploading now... :-)

  • Thanx Duey, been working on this song all day. So much fun the way you explain. Hats off to you for taking the time to reply to all of us, wish more guys were like you!! When I get this solo I'll sent it to you so you can see what your lessons are doing for us!

  • I just uploaded the Comfortably Numb slow version too. Check that out!

  • Thanks. That is fantastic. What a phenomenal lesson.

  • Thank you, please tell all your friends. :-)

  • This is awesome!!

  • My words exactly! This is awesome. Best demo I've ever seen.

  • Thank you, please tell all your friends. :-) Uploading Comfortably Numb now.

  • Thanks alot.

    Very helpfull.

Those bends have rooted my figer tips after an hour of practice though.

    Ouch.

  • Yes, I actually have grooves in my fingertips now from playing David's licks. :-) This is requirement #1, good calluses. Put down your strat every other day play a nylon string guitar (if you have one) and let your fingertips actively rest so your calluses will not peel off.

  • Thanks for the advice.

They i actualy already thaught my fingertips were already as hard as they could get, but after a week they are hard as rock now.

Keep in mind iv been playing for 5 years, not just a few weeks.

Just havnt done alot of high bends.

    Cheers again.

  • Yes, doing these kinds of bends is so great for your power. After doing these solos for a while you can bend anything and your fingertips are tough as nails. :-)

  • Sorry, but I have a Boss GT-8

  • THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

Duey!!!! You are da MAN! I wish EVERYONE would slow down their clips like this-it is sooo much easier to learn. Again Due, THANKS

  • You are most welcome.

  • Amazing playing and tone! Can U give me a hint on what kind of effects are being used here? (I mean what are "switched on" on the POD XT) thanx

  • If you have a POD XT I'll email you the patches I use.

  • Hey, great lesson. I am stuck in segmant 2. I cant figure out what your doing in frets 7 & 9. Can you go over that riff?

    Thanks.

  • awesome... i just tabbed it out. Thanks a lot

  • i got a beaner strat and i cant get bends like that. what are you playing through?

  • I'm playing through a POD XT with D'Addario XL120 strings.

  • thnx a lot man !

    couldn't done without you :)

waiting for the Comfortably Numb lesson ! :D

  • Very nice !!! congratullations , i would like know the set up that you use , in terms of ;compressor , drive , modulation , delay , reverb. Thank you for you help.

  • This has helped me a ton. Thanks a lot man!

  • I can't see what's under your fingers.

    What exactly are you hitting?

  • nice tone bro, right on!

  • nice lesson...

  • Hi man, nice lesson..could you tell me which equalization you use and what effects?

    Tks!

  • Hi, yes I can. I use a Pod XT with custom Gilmour patches that I made. The Pod XT is an amazing piece of gear, you can get just about any tone you can imagine from them. Get one and see!

  • omg another Charvette i have on of these and have lsothe locking nuts at the head hiw do you rate it?/ mine has great tone and screaming low action does it compare well to charvettes or jacksons any info on guitar would be appreciated

  • These are just phenomenal guitars. Mine has super low action, thin neck profile, the neck is perfectly straight and it is so easy to play. I was in a guitar store today looking over all the Strats, I played 10 different ones and for me... none of them played as good this old Charvette I have, excellent quality guitar. If I can find another one I am buying it. I paid $200.00 for it in a second hand shop 12 years ago. It's all I play now, sold my other guitars.

  • thanks for the reply lost my locking nuts and the head has been repaired i have the ssh set up a beautiful neck wonder how they compare to Jackson or charvel but it's great having the un-usual and like you love my axe. Hey great playing and power to the charvette

  • thanks for posting that helped a lot

  • Can you tell me what pedals you use?

  • Hi, yes I can. I use a Pod XT with custom Gilmour patches that I made. The Pod XT is an amazing piece of gear, you can get just about any tone you can imagine from them. Get one and see!

  • very nice lesson, thanks

  • Thanks for the help on this solo. One of my favorites. Any good recommended tab you know of for this solo and other Floyd classics? Thanks again!!!

  • I don't use tabs, but if you use Amazing Slow Downer you can easily hear how it is played. Tabs I find don't really help me as much as listening to how it is played, but that is just me.

  • very first part 6 seconds to 10 seconds is your index finger barring any notes at all or is it at 5string 3rd fret? nice video homie

  • No, I'm not barring anything, I just like to mute all other strings to avoid noise, I do this a lot when I play. I am hitting the 4th string at the 4th fret on that first note with my ring finger. Then up to the 3rd string at the 4th fret for the bend.

  • thanks for the clarification buddy. badass video man

  • nice video!!!

  • Thank you! Enjoy!

  • breaking it down section by section is the best way to learn a solo like this. kudos.

  • Awesome !! One of my favourite Pink Floyd solos!

  • Excelent Video !!! Thank you very much.

  • nice effects. did you use xt live pedal board or the xt (kidney shaped) tone toolbox. what amp did you use?

  • I'm using the POD XT (kidney bean one) and that runs direct into my PC. I also have a Line 6 Spider amp, but for recording I go straight to my PC and record audio tracks over the backing track in Sony Acid Pro 6, then import the video and sync it all up in Adobe Premier Pro CS3. Works great!

  • Is this a hard solo to learn in your opinion? So far I'm not having too much trouble this is a very helpful vid :P thx

Also what effects are you using?

  • The slide part is a bit tricky and getting the timing right on the first bend takes practice because it's an off timing. The hardest part is trying to get the soul and feel of the bends right, close your eyes when you bend and feel it, that makes it easier to get it right. Always try to learn a solo section by section, get the first part down, then the next, etc. That makes it easier to do.

I use a Pod Xt with my own custom patches I made. The Pod runs direct to my PC and to Acid Pro 6.

  • Nice paying and video!

    Sehr Gut :-)

  • Thanks!

  • NICE VIDEO!

  • Thank you. :-)

  • dude this totally rocks - david is the reason i picked up the guitar! thanks for sharing!

  • You are welcome dude, glad it helps. This is a great solo to learn. If you have a Pod Xt I'll send you the tone patch.

  • Gracias por la lección. Lo que voy a disfrutar tocando este solo gracias a tí. Un saludo desde Madrid.

  • You are welcome. :-)

  • thx man, i know how to play time now cuz of this video

  • You are welcome!
