  • How about trying a .357? The rimfire may ignite easier than the first 2 types autos you tried. A Smith & Wesson that has the firing pin on its hammer would seem to be a good choice if the firing pin under water isn't going forward with enough force.

  • thanks for the vid, i was watching "the good, the bad and the ugly" (for the 1000th time) and i was wondering about that scene where Tuco goes, "when you have to shoot, shoot".

    i guess its true

  • Next time i go spearfishing I will take my Glock :0 Hopefully the can was legal size to keep!!

    Keep having fun.

  • There was an article on this subject many years ago - in Guns & Ammo - they got a .45 Auto (I think it was a Randall - from memory) and it worked ok. One thing they stated - from a safety perspective - was to make sure the barrel was full of water - no airspaces - or potentially, the barrel could burst. I have no empirical evidenc to support why this would be and it is from memory, but it is apparently a fact... The gun would not cycle, but it did fire. Point is, be careful my friend...

  • GLOCK Maritime Spring Cups

    Item: G3073

    Price:$18.00

    glockmeister

  • @kyler71 what are the spring cups for??

  • @JUKEBOXX1990 The maritime springcups are made by Glock for their Glock Model 17 and 19 in 9mm only. This part will fit other glock models. This was made for Military and LE use only and Glock will not sell this part to the general public, however they will sell it to their parts distributors. My guess is so that they wont get sued when someone puts this in a .40 cal Glock and shoots it underwater causing the firearm to blow apart.

The spring cup allows water to go around the striker.

  • @kyler71 i heard the see to civilian as a class 3

  • Haha

  • Glock sells a watertight piece for the firing pin if you know you will be shooting underwater

  • That my friend in the net are all keepers!! Cool video!

  • LOL I like it...I was thinking about doing this same test...(well minus the boat and beer can on a pole) with a H&K USP 45

  • Okay so we'll shoot under water with beretta 92's or H&K's since apparently a hammer is needed so stfu revolver guys!

  • i think i seen somewhere years ago they had a conversion kit for shooting glocks unerwater, but i wont swear to it. any ways, good video

  • Very interesting, Thanks.

  • nice!

  • awsome vid!!!

  • Crazy SOB! Gotta love it!

  • a solution for those pesky bluegills

  • So when the firing pin cavity gets filled with water how do you get it dry to prevent rust? Most people don't know how to completely strip a pistol.

  • Good vid. I did one with my glock 19 and same things then went to a gun show and a glock armor gave me ab 15 packs of the replacement cups for shooting under water. It works now I do seal my ammo with fingernail polish tho to keep it water tight. A drop on primer and around the neck. Only 115 fmj has been tried. If u want a pack of them I'll never use all of them. Pm me and I'll send u a pack.

  • interesting video, but when you said your not litter bugs, yall forget the rounds you ejected that landed in the water, just sayin :o)

  • Cool video bro! Interesting to see the results of underwater shooting, good show buddy!

  • Nice way to hunt fish :)

  • Awesome video and don't forget to watch the GOP debate tonight on fox. Go Ron Paul!!

  • Search for Ghost Maritime Spring Cups they are $11 and work just as well. Glock makes their own spring cups but they won't sell them to civillians.

  • to my knowledge the m&P has the option for the fluted spring cups as well, although they are not as cheap as the glock ones.

  • AWESOME!

  • Awsome video

  • on the M&P pro do you like the Trigger or do you think it would be better to get the standered M&P and have a trigger job done??? looking at getting one.

    Great video !

  • VERY COOL!!!

  • change the spring cups and try it again ;-)

  • One.. Nothing... Two.. Nothing.

  • great vid thanks

  • well that was entertaining

  • May i suggest a hammer fired gun, HK P30 or Sig P250.

  • Hey Brandon..way cool...Nah...Your not Crazy....LOL...always wanted to do that my self...I see BDH...posted his smack video...LOL...You gonna take that Kentucky..

    LOL..

    Target On my Friend...E1

  • yea you are crazy! But thank you for the upload wish I could help you out with the cleaning. thanks again very cool.

  • Just read previous comments. Everybody is on to that. But just in G17, right?

  • Can you install the marine cups to prevent that? Or is that just on G17's?

  • nice

  • wow that fresh water is clear, not like the poop freshwater here in florida. awesome video!!!

  • Great vid Brandon!

  • I took this as valuable need to know info. After the SHTF, I will be able to raise some sun fish with my Glock! XD

Thank you for the excellently entertaining video!!!

  • Revolvers win. ;-)

  • Why doesn't Glock put these "Maritime spring cups" in all of their pistols.

I'm sure there's a reason, asking for my own edification.

  • @smith45acp They strike the primer very hard and my guess would be using the maritime cops out of the water would result in some ruptured primers. Just my guess.

  • @shananagans5 That's logical

  • shooting underwater is nearly pointless... bullet won't travel more than 2-3 feet before stopping "dead in the water"... however maritime spring cups are the answer you are looking for

  • ★★★★★

That's a great video idea! Excellent job.

  • and the point of this video was? it proves what?

  • Truth is truth.

  • Revoler part was predictable.

The Glock and S&W were surprising in the way they failed that much. I haven't watched any videos of people shooting semi-autos underwater til I just watched yours. I figured as much would happen though as the gas operation vs how water resists such things would cause such things to happen. If for some crazy reason I found myself in a situation where I was having to defend myself from shark people, I'd want a revolver.. most definately XD!

    Nice video.

  • Loved the "catch of the day"!

97 videos! Can't wait for the 100th! I'm sure it's going to be "special"! Maybe tannerite that ram?!?!??! LOL!

  • yep the smith 317 is the chosen everyday carry weapon of Synchronized swimmers and Underwater Ballet groups the world over.lol.

  • Intersting test, nice job!.

  • Nice test now if I have the choice for an underwater dual I will take the revolver.

    Schmoo

  • huntwithairguns,

I have reloaded for years. I wasn't paying close attention at the beginning of the video and thought the clips were in the guns, the block and smith, while they were soaking in the water.

  • What kinda bait did ya use to catch them pistols?

  • nice vid man! this is interesting.

  • i wouldnt do that with a revolver underwater. if you got a squib and mistaked it for a misfire your barrel would go KABOOM!

  • Springcups for glock 9mm will make it work under water!! Thats what I heard!!! lol Cool vid man!!

  • That is odd. My Glock 19 shoots underwater considerably better. I get an rare week primer strike, and a decent amount of stove pipes, but it shots most of the time. Maybe the ammo I was using has softer primers? I am sure if that is the case, I would see similar resoults with the M&P.

  • & now i know why i aint catchin' no fish...lol

  • Here in Michigan we don't demolish our valuable cans that way.

  • cool vid *****

  • great Idea with a revolver in the mix but I wonder if a center-fire revolver would fair better because 22lr is kinda susceptible to water

  • This gives me an idea for when the fish aren't biting!!! LMAO Thanks

  • this means that revolvers are more operator than automatics.

  • Saw an FBI agent shoot a bad guy underwater on the TV show Criminal Minds. Of course that was Hollywood.

  • Great vid! GOD BLESS!

  • Awesome video and nice catch at the end. :)

  • Once again, we have shown that Revolvers > Tactical Tupperware!

  • were the primers sealed. If water is leaking in, that could affect the firing. James Bond would shoot underwater! lol great video.

  • @edgybob1 Even if they aren't sealed, the water isn't just going to leak in right away. The primers are seated very tightly into the case. I'm assuming you don't reload?

  • hey. what type of rod and reel is that. it looks like an abu garcia

  • Interesting test :)

  • I'd say that was a pretty good way to spend some time.

  • Love the video KY, I should have my skydiving video up in a couple days. Think you will like this one, jumping out of a airplane with nothing on but my double shoulder harness and two Dan Wesson 1911's shooting at targets and hitting them from 3000 feet. Let me know what you think....OohRah

  • Apparently they make little cups.

  • That is a whole lot of cleaning,I knew about the Zombie Apocalypse but is Aquaman going to attack us also?

  • The spring cups do make it capable of firing under water, but their intended use is designed to drain the water out of the firing pin channel and allow it to work above water, because its useless to shoot under water as the bullet only travels 2 feet and drops to the floor

  • Under water zombies beware! Now we know what gun to use. Thanks for doing the research Brandon.

  • glock makes fluted firing spring cups to shoot under water

  • Shouldn't you check the barrel for squibs after you hear a muffled shot like that?

  • wish i had a gun to shoot underwater with

  • You can use the revolver for fishing.

  • You should make fishing and gun reviews that would be awesome!!

    Sweet rod/reel by the way

  • They make the little cups that hold the Glock striker spring for under water shooting. They are slotted to let the water go by, where the stock ones form a solid circle.

  • the c&v .40 cal shoots great under water!

  • Any gun barrel can be damaged / or blown up if obstructed when fired. Ex: shooting underwater. I just don't get it...

  • I'll bet you made the fish really happy. LOL!

  • Ah, guns are more durable thanpeople think.

They can take a little tumble across the boat floor.

  • should have shot the Abu

  • SMITH AND WESSON revolvers, American classic.... !!!!

  • the 92FS runs 100% underwater

  • He said shit...

  • Great vid, man. I'm wondering if a hammer fired auto would have performed better underwater than the striker fired models.

  • i believe the rim fire aspect has something to do with it.

  • Great vid, thanks!!

  • Ummmm....why did you say "you OLD guys" when you were referring to people that would be happy with the revolvers performance? :)

  • @TheYankeeMarshal i believe so- btw- please dont ever put the friday night out fit on in another one of your videos- i'm still having night mares

  • Take your revolver diving? ;)

  • Looks like illegal catching to me, they all look too small Throw them all back!

  • S&W wheel gun FTW, cool video brother

  • Glad you're drinking the good stuff. Great video.

  • Lol @tnoutdoors9

  • That revolver is going to be fun to break down...Great Vid Brandon!

  • i love it, just out on the water having some old fashion gun fun, watch out bowfishers, its revolver fishing season now.

  • have fun cleaning! lmao

  • awsome.

  • For those with houses "under water" these days, the revolver might be a good home defense gun :-)

  • Nice job Brandon. Dispels some myths!

  • Thanks Brandon....next time I go Bluegill fishin I'll leave my Glock at home and bring the Bulldog!

  • I have no clue underwater combat was so prevalent.

  • BTW the revolver sounded the my girls when they were young and used too fart underwater in the tub.. LOL

  • Hey try changing the spring cups they only make them for 9mm but there a different config for shooting underwater. And yes it does work I have seen it up close. PLease do a follow up post with these spring cups there like 14.95,,

  • Good test.

  • Revolvers win everytime you know they can jam LOL, Great stuff Buddy

  • hahaha! That revolver just cracked me up. POOT POOT POOT!

  • 0:42 I want to go fishing there! How are the M&P's this time of year? I sure could go for a mess of 9mm in the Pro Series! The sound of those .22's underwater sounded like someone farting in the bathtub! I saw that on TV, of course. LOL
