My 18 year old Cat with Feline Dementia

I think my cat is showing signs of dementia, she's 16 she's started to wander around the flat in circles for hours unless i sit her on the couch, she's started to lie in the litter tray and doesn't respond when I call her, I hate that she's getting old, I want her to live for ever, your cat is beautiful

today i was at my bus stop and saw my grandmas outside cat cliffard on the grass across the street and it was so sad because he was dead i guess he just couldnt take the cold so he died. ive had a bad day since i hope he went peaceful :'(

oh how sad he has this but looks like hes lived a long and most likely good life and he is older and even we get old and go though stuff to hes a very handsome adorable cat much blessings sent his way big hugs much love always show him love thumbs up for a cute cat

My cat is 18 going on 19 and it still acts young. I think it still has like 4 years on it.

@magustx How is this cruel? There is no cure for dementia. Aside from having dementia, the cat is perfectly fine. It's being loved and taken care of. Would you rather she put it down just because it has a disease where it forgets daily activities and frequently becomes confused? That then, would be cruel. She is providing the cat with all of her love and care. Many people give up on their animals and would chose to put it down.

Your video is so touching. It's wonderful that you will take care of your cat as long as necessary and not discard him like some other people would if their cats started pooping outside the box.  He's a beautiful boy and is lucky to have you.

@hitntr Yes my cat too but there is very more hissing then niceness and it's very odd because she is young (not that young) to have it so it's a bit shocking...

Um I'm a bit upset that my nine year old girl was just diagnosed today I'm very sad but we can all get through it. At least your cat purrs mine hissed and yowls

Moe doesn't always purr, he goes through stages where he is angry at everyone and won't go near us for days (much like a feral cat) and then he will change and come to everyone and never get enough attention. Hope all goes well for you.
