  • Simple it's a Electric-Gas Hybrid being It primarily driven by the electric motors... and to for most people it might seem like the first of it's kind but gm had a true EV called the EV1 built Buy Saturn... Which and a 140mile range and sold (in lease) like wild fire... the EV1 was never offically sold and then for still unknown reasons it was taken off the market and all of cars were taken back after the lease was up

See the conspiricay movie "Who Killed the Electric Car"

  • well thats just silly

  • People need to realize this is a first of its kind vehicle. Early adopters will scoop these cars up, all 10,000 the first year. As production processes improve, battery costs will go down and the price tag will come down.

A 2 seat version might be more practical for saving people money, as most commuters drive alone to work. Could use fewer batteries and reduced weight from smaller size.

  • The Chevrolet Volt is not an electric car. It is a Plug-In Hybrid.

  • Why is it so difficult to understand? A hybrid uses two or more engines to drive. The Volt / Ampera uses two engines - so it is a hybrid. Of course it makes sence to make a direct connection between the 1.4 l engine and the wheels - but why didn't they told us that? But now I do understand, why the Opel concept used a diesel engine. If you use it more often, it makes sence to use a more efficient enginge concept that this 1,4l Otto engine.

  • This guy should not be making videos haha! he couldn't make it on radio, take a public speaking class!!! oh yeah hey professor how does the gas engine contribute torque along with the electric motor when the motor is not connected to the wheels haha, explain that doctor of science haha.

What you mean to say, is that when the battery can't provide enough current under heavy acceleration, the gasoline engine running the generator can provide extra current so the electric motor delivers max power!

  • Japanese and French car producers will wipe out the Chevy Volt.

  • I don't agree with the last part, but the Volt is an EV... part of the time. It's a true EV for the first ~40 miles. After that it's a hybrid that can operate as a series then parallel hybrid. Basically, depending on how fast you are going and the level of battery charge it's any one of the three.

The remove the electric motor argument doesn't work because that would disable a Ford or Toyota hybrid as well. They both need the electric motor even when using gas.

  • I hate lies !

  • Gotta love the mentallity of the folks who think the Volt is really a great car. 40k for a vehicle that takes you over 10yrs to earn any of those savings back. The Nissan Leaf is a better vehicle. Chirst a Honda Civic or a diesel VW Jetta is better.

  • $34,500 if you get the -$7,500 Government instant rebate.

  • Priced like a Lexus, performance like a Cobalt, mileage like pretty much any other compact costing half as much, but it has a cool electric motor. I had such high hopes for this vehicle too.

  • Priced Like a Lexus and is also built like one.

  • ITS A HYBRID NOT AN ELECTRIC CAR

are you PAID BY GM ?
