There's something fishy about this story. Supposing the woman's account is accurate, who issued the bench warrant? If she failed to appear before a judge in a civil case, then (by default) the judge would rule in the plaintiff's favor, NOT issue a bench warrant. If she never received a summons, then she was falsely arrested. The debt collection agencies have some major lawsuits headed their way.

When people fail to show up to a court for the creditor to ask the debtor about their assets, they are held in contempt of court..This has been the law since the establishment of the United States. They do not goto jail for not paying a debt, they go to jail for not complying with a court order. This is not debtor's prison..
