What wonderful memories. I especially can relate to all of this since I went to the H.S. that is pictured in the opening credits. That High School. was New Utrecht in Bensonhurst Brooklyn. from which I graduated in 1963. The subway train that you see passing was the old West End Line to Coney Island. Just such wonderful days of my life. RIP EPSTINE.

You childhood was so similar to mine that it's spooky. Mmmm Atari! (& the Hulk!) IMO the 70's were the "Golden Age" of TV Sitcoms. If I had space here, I could easily name off 15-20 great sitcoms that aired between 1970-80. I won't even mention the dramas, action, westerns, etc, shows. We don't have nearly as much great TV today, as we did back then. Yea, there are a few good shows on now, but not like then! I don't even know how they fit them all on prime time! (+, no 24/7 TV back then)

I was in high school in the mid 90s and Kotter became popular again when reruns were aired on some channels. I loved the show and everyone at school was using the catchphrases even though we weren't even born when the show started. Great shows never go out of style.
