  • As I continue on my wanderings through past, present and looking forward to the future here... I find this old favourite and a long lost friend. This was so enjoyed last night I had to feature it on waking...

    Thank-you : )

  • Anthony Phillips started as the guitar player, with Mike Rutherford as backup/bass. He came out with some tracks with Genesis, until "Tresspass."

Then, this album came out. It was like another Genesis album. It's great hearing Phil Collins TRYING TO SING...

  • WOW, great stuff!!!

  • 2 guys have no clue....

  • yes I can hear Phils voice clearly ;-)

  • Comment removed

  • wind and wuthering was 1977-78

  • Utterly lovely, and gives an indication of what Genesis may have sounded like if Ant had returned to the fold after Steve left.

  • @DarkeningSkies1 I've always wondered if Ant was asked to come back into the fold after Steve left. I can almost bet we wouldn't have heard Invisible Touch then! LOL. Ant is a class act, indeed.

  • @Lasaril The stage fright thing would have put the kibosh on it, methinks. Still, no reason he couldn't have written and played for the studio albums with Daryl Stuermer still acting as the touring guitarist. I'm willing to bet there are many intriguing versions of our favorite bands out there in alternate universes!

  • a great moment, thank you Anthony, this song is unforgettable!

  • This and Mike Rutherford's "Smallcreep's Day"... two of my all time favorites. Still have the original vinyl LPs from the 70s, been played a lot but still sound great. Genesis was a great band in that early era, but their individual members, including Steve Hackett, may have made the best music.

  • i meant PCO

  • i love this song..such a beautiful song...always cry when i listen to it...not because it makes me sad, but because it reminds me of someone i reallt love.

i heard this song for the first time while i was listining to PENGUIN CAFE ORQUESTRA...and PCA is my ex fave orquestra.

    miss you Glenn.

i hope u come back to me, if you ever see this, remember that i love you so much

  • Wind and wuthering was released in 1977, and I do not think this sounds like the wind and wuthering era. Blood on the rooftops does, but not the whole album.

  • @CluckerMcBawker 1976 in England, but 1977 in America

  • is it phillips or collins ? the sound is so like wind and wuthering era..

  • @mobyboy Collins is singing.

  • @mobyboy Collins is singing.

It was recorded in '75-'76, and Wind and Wuthering was released in '75

  • wind and wuthring was released dec 1976 / jan 1977...every country got his own release date

  • One of the finest, most gorgeous pop compositions ever, a masterpiece of the guitar -- and Phil Collins' finest moment, as well.

  • Bekomme ich Gänsehaut...

  • Some live on the windsthat blow;

Some-ones think they can MAKE wind.

Some-other ones, listen to the wind with a very very critical mind...THEN ACT.

Just this... which side are you on?

  • Sensitive, rather beautiful, timeless - perhaps of another age. Reminds me of the Trespass days of Genesis (lots of 12 strings on stage in those days).

  • @Davidftz Ditto... that would be Mr. Phillips !

  • awesome music .................

  • @smokeyman207 This album was a multi-year project of Anthony and Mike

  • Welcome in the World of Enchanted and Spooky Music . . .

  • MAgnific

  • If there's anything or anyone that can slightly compare to this, it's Fleet Foxes. But this song...no way. It's so good.

  • I love Genesis

  • Ahh yes,........ back when Phil was great. This song would've went well on Nursery Cryme, balancing the album out nicely. Think ........For Absent Friends

  • This is some of Phil's best singing, IMO.

I have this LP downstairs, long unplayed, sadly.

    TY for posting this.

  • This is from my favorite album of all time. The Geese and the Ghost is an underappreciated masterpiece.

  • Bello il video

Il musicista è un perfezionista che vive in solitudine e non ha mai fretta di comporre, le sue armonie sono estremamente curate

  • lo straordinario anthony, vive per la musica! con grandi momenti di fantasia!

  • Sadly nothing like this these days. Maybe so many of real music lovers like this kind of stuff because its a snapshot in time from when life seemed so much better. Sigh...

  • JUST GREAT!!!

  • Thanks for sharing. :)

  • excellent job on the video...where are the mages from?

  • 35.... 37 years?

This music is still a masterpiece.

    Thanks for uploading it.

  • I am surprised that this is Phil Collins singing cause his voice sounds nothing like the songs you normally hear

  • @Doobie1975 that's Phil's versatility..

  • This sounds like a Trespass track.

  • I'm just glad he got over his fright and went on to record albums. I'm a long time fan of his work. I agree: he had much to do with the early acoustic sound of Genesis.

  • Anthony Phillips is the one responsible for the beautiful guitar sound that became part of Genesis. He is perhaps the most under-recognized and under-appreciated musician in the world. I understand he did not continue with Genesis because of "stage fright". Whatever the reason, thanks for posting some of his music for others to give a listen. This man has produced about 40 studio albums!!

  • @gbrodziak

Agreed. Phillips initiated the sound, then Hackett carried on in spectacular fashion

  • Sublime - thank goodness for real music!

  • cool

  • As 1dangerousman says, very rightfuly: Phil Collins voice is a gift to the world.

  • This music is a celebration of a time when things were simpler and slower and there was an appreciation for the beauty in nature. Lovely imagery to go with the song.

I doubt that my kids (or most kids) could appreciate this kind of music...because, of course, you CAN'T dance to it!

  • Found this again after a gap of too many years ! Absolutely brilliant really, shows the influence he had on early Genesis.

Just what was needed after a first day back at school!

  • @1928374365 . I agree wiyh you, Ant In the early years was the main composer of Genesis. I also believe he had great influence in later years through his friendship with Mike Rutherford

  • The fewer real-enjoyers that come here ,the more dinosaures we do not need to kick away for FORGERY!

Let them love their EDDY WALLY !

  • Absolutely beautiful! Never shall grow tired of this song! Takes one to another dimension! Thanks for posting!

  • A great song for all times! I still remember it with a great pelasure, thank you very much for posting it.

  • i can't freaking believe you've posted an anthony phillips song... OUTSTANDING.

  • lol

  • RIGHT are your comments for it lies in there:

Gentlyness of the heart is sweet as honey , looks like a well-kept! garden in springtime, and we all need it and would lie to drink it and pass it on to others...

Far from impossible! There's always a life-line! look around you! Be one ,and find one!

  • Thanks for the song :)

  • This music makes me travel to others lives, so far...

  • truly beautiful. brings a tear to my eyes...

  • Guitar sound like cristal. Voice remembered Peter Gabriel's one.

All Ant's album are like that, good to listen

    just relax, feel the music

  • This is the OTHER track I taped from Princeton's radio station Fall 1983.

    Same album as the other.

    THANKS for posting!

  • i want to live in this music

  • I feel like I can drink this music.

  • Forsure3333, I can say it no better, after 30 years of enchantedly llistening to this album ..... well said, my friend

  • you can.........................

  • I had this album years ago, on cassette but think an old mate nicked it. twat! Astonishing stuff. I still have private parts and pieces on imported vinyl!

  • As far as I know "The geese and the ghost" came out a couple of years ago so-called remastered. I do not know what it's worth but the music on the old LP still is as good as it ever was from day one.

    May you go well.

    Bernard

  • Last year a new version came out. 2 CDs. Disc 1 contain the regular album. Disk 2 a lot of bonus tracks from this period.

  • Great work,great song, thank you ...

  • Can't stop hearing!How crazy!

    It's a spell?

  • I do not believe it is something like CCR's "I put a spell on you", however good I think thatone is.

"Lyricism is still a beautiful thing, but no-one or only a very few find it worth discovering anno 2008"

    May you go well,

    Bernard

  • MAn I gotta find this album; it's so beautiful

  • i think you can see how much influence Ant had on very early Genesis

  • So,So beutiful!!!I'm melting! My soul seems to go back in the winds of time and youth!Poor me!

  • how beautiful you said that; that's exactly how i feel it too: saudades......

  • I saw your videos and just me tell you that you plays beautifull!

    You're a great musician!

  • muito obrigado!

    saluti de Joost (de Olanda)

  • Big Sigh ...

  • This song is like hearing what Genesis might have sounded like if Ant had stayed in the band during the 70s into the time when Phil took over lead vocals. It's like a cross between Trespass and Trick of the Tail.

  • "We're sorry - this video is no longer available"

    Damn - what happened?

  • This brings tears to my eyes... Takes me back to when I had'nt a care in the world and had my whole life aheaad of me. Damn.

  • @72Z15SS

    Aaah..... lovely sentiments indeed.

  • How can one not like that song?

  • thanks, cheers, jimi

  • It's been a long time since I've heard this delightful song, thanks for it and your imagerie accompanying it !

  • What a wonderful song, what beautiful guitar work, Phil Collins voice is a gift to the world. I would love to hear it done

    with a Peter Gabriel duet.

  • One of the most delightful intro ever.

  • Genesis puro. Hermoso

  • absolutely beautiful. It's like hearing an old Genesis tune for the first time. The video is exactly what I would want to see in Genesis/Anthony Phillips - very heart-warming, rustic - brings back memories.

  • It's quite a feeling hearing an old Genesis tune for the first time... this is a close second.

  • very elegant and well-covered the music of Tony. i like the era of him in Genesis too.

  • ERES UNICO ANTHONY

    QUE HERMOSA MUSICA

  • nice vid for a nice song...thanks mr.11th!!!
