As I continue on my wanderings through past, present and looking forward to the future here... I find this old favourite and a long lost friend. This was so enjoyed last night I had to feature it on waking...
@DarkeningSkies1 I've always wondered if Ant was asked to come back into the fold after Steve left. I can almost bet we wouldn't have heard Invisible Touch then! LOL. Ant is a class act, indeed.
@Lasaril The stage fright thing would have put the kibosh on it, methinks. Still, no reason he couldn't have written and played for the studio albums with Daryl Stuermer still acting as the touring guitarist. I'm willing to bet there are many intriguing versions of our favorite bands out there in alternate universes!
This and Mike Rutherford's "Smallcreep's Day"... two of my all time favorites. Still have the original vinyl LPs from the 70s, been played a lot but still sound great. Genesis was a great band in that early era, but their individual members, including Steve Hackett, may have made the best music.
i love this song..such a beautiful song...always cry when i listen to it...not because it makes me sad, but because it reminds me of someone i reallt love.
i heard this song for the first time while i was listining to PENGUIN CAFE ORQUESTRA...and PCA is my ex fave orquestra.
miss you Glenn.
i hope u come back to me, if you ever see this, remember that i love you so much
Wind and wuthering was released in 1977, and I do not think this sounds like the wind and wuthering era. Blood on the rooftops does, but not the whole album.
Sensitive, rather beautiful, timeless - perhaps of another age. Reminds me of the Trespass days of Genesis (lots of 12 strings on stage in those days).
Ahh yes,........ back when Phil was great. This song would've went well on Nursery Cryme, balancing the album out nicely. Think ........For Absent Friends
Sadly nothing like this these days. Maybe so many of real music lovers like this kind of stuff because its a snapshot in time from when life seemed so much better. Sigh...
I'm just glad he got over his fright and went on to record albums. I'm a long time fan of his work. I agree: he had much to do with the early acoustic sound of Genesis.
Anthony Phillips is the one responsible for the beautiful guitar sound that became part of Genesis. He is perhaps the most under-recognized and under-appreciated musician in the world. I understand he did not continue with Genesis because of "stage fright". Whatever the reason, thanks for posting some of his music for others to give a listen. This man has produced about 40 studio albums!!
This music is a celebration of a time when things were simpler and slower and there was an appreciation for the beauty in nature. Lovely imagery to go with the song.
I doubt that my kids (or most kids) could appreciate this kind of music...because, of course, you CAN'T dance to it!
@1928374365 . I agree wiyh you, Ant In the early years was the main composer of Genesis. I also believe he had great influence in later years through his friendship with Mike Rutherford
Gentlyness of the heart is sweet as honey , looks like a well-kept! garden in springtime, and we all need it and would lie to drink it and pass it on to others...
Far from impossible! There's always a life-line! look around you! Be one ,and find one!
I had this album years ago, on cassette but think an old mate nicked it. twat! Astonishing stuff. I still have private parts and pieces on imported vinyl!
As far as I know "The geese and the ghost" came out a couple of years ago so-called remastered. I do not know what it's worth but the music on the old LP still is as good as it ever was from day one.
This song is like hearing what Genesis might have sounded like if Ant had stayed in the band during the 70s into the time when Phil took over lead vocals. It's like a cross between Trespass and Trick of the Tail.
absolutely beautiful. It's like hearing an old Genesis tune for the first time. The video is exactly what I would want to see in Genesis/Anthony Phillips - very heart-warming, rustic - brings back memories.

Anthony Phillips started as the guitar player, with Mike Rutherford as backup/bass. He came out with some tracks with Genesis, until "Tresspass."
Then, this album came out. It was like another Genesis album. It's great hearing Phil Collins TRYING TO SING...

Utterly lovely, and gives an indication of what Genesis may have sounded like if Ant had returned to the fold after Steve left.

One of the finest, most gorgeous pop compositions ever, a masterpiece of the guitar -- and Phil Collins' finest moment, as well.

Some live on the windsthat blow;
Some-ones think they can MAKE wind.
Some-other ones, listen to the wind with a very very critical mind...THEN ACT.
Just this... which side are you on?
