Great thing about rugby is that despite all this, the players by and large get on really well with the refs, and while we always moan about dodgy calls, the game couldnt be played without them.

A lot of respect for Rugby Referees who still run the game as a team unlike their football counterparts. Referees in Rugby are well respected by players in general unlike football. Football could learn a lot from Rugby and get away from over paid primadonnas ruining a good game.

@Delta1293 I dunno if you play rugby or not...but basically at a break down a lot happens that a ref needs to be wary of....spanning from injuries (i.e potentially very dangerous ones....necks, breaks, concussions etc) to just general cheating, (hands on the ball in the rucks...) hence why they're close...

I remember I did a high school game (american football)... I was the umpire.. I wore the traditional black-and-white stripes.. well I got nailed by a linebacker, and the field was muddy. I ended up looking like I had 1 big white stripe and 1 big brown stripe LOL
