  • Great job!!!! And thank you for playing one of the best bass parts EVER recorded!

  • I must have watched this at least 5 times today. It's lovely

  • Hey where did you find just the track?

  • @mychalsimonzmusic He could have been using a full mixing board or one of the small devices you can hook inline with an audio source and the speakers to remove the bass .

  • Contender for the best bass line of all time!!! Great cover. Keep it up.

  • Wow! You are really really good!!! Thank you for learning how to play this song!!I must really love the bass because I love I Want You Back!

  • i agree this is one of the better versions of this bassline i've heard. keep it up man

  • Hey this is really awesome dude!! :)

  • thats sweet

  • J ive listen to several bass lines yours is 5 stars dude i think u r the best

  • you did good on that bro

  • Just checked out james jameson11 with Marvin Gaye in what s going on AWESOME dude does play with 1 finger!!! how cool is that and how many of u can do it"""

  • James Jamerson was the best. And yes he referred to his finger as the hook. James set the bass playing tone for many to come. Its too bad he died at only 43. Google James Jamerson and you can read about him. Its very interesting. Best wishes.

  • Thanks will do

  • Awesome dude kinda of difficult to play through a song with bass like that i would think any way AWESOME keep up the good work and show your face

  • quit playin in yer room and go play with some of ur buds

  • Wow well donee;)

  • Great job!!!:)

  • Good one... got it nailed down pretty good... to 1funkyangel's comment, the bassline to I Want You Back isn't played by Jamerson but by Wilton Felder of the Jazz Crusaders, lil' bass historical tidbit :)

  • Instrumental !really dude really

  • goodgood!

  • It's all about the little octave run at 1:45. Love the bass line in this song.

  • please send the tabs

  • GOOD JOB! R.I.P MJ

  • Hail yeah....

  • Actually, on the recording the bass is "on top" and many of those notes that people play on the beat are anticipated. (Though the bridge is a bit rushed here). E is a tad sharp but nothing to bust on you for.

  • you rush a few times. all in all, great job though. :D

  • Good but get a better speaker to play that with. Wattage doesn't matter but you are popping the shit out of that little 8" or 10" cone.

  • da blues bass splash of funk <3 it. Now make something that hasn't been done yet :D

  • your doing o k lay back a bit on the beat find the pocket

and damit!! tuneyou low E string no...tune your bass

  • wow man, thats really good

  • that breakdown part is hard as shit; I can't come close to playing it fast enough. Well done.

  • you need to put some rotosound jazz strings on that thing instead of rolling the tone nob back!

i slapped a pack on my 51 reissue and it sounds just like the recording of this song, abc, darling dear, sir duke, the list goes on!

  • shut up roman. just kidding. rotosound is the shit.

  • that's cold man

  • calm down roman, i'm just kidding. i think all that would sound better on your squier p bass. add flatwounds for flair.

right now im working on "what is hip" by tower of power... almost through it ;) maybe this will be my next vid!

  • nice bass sound u got there

i got the same beast but mine got a tortoise scratch and some fender noiseless :)

  • I think Jamerson was scared to fly or something like that, thats why he didnt end up playing this bassline? You should check out the documentary Standing In The Shadows of Motown, it talks about the Funk Brothers who were the epitomy of the entire Motown sound. Some great stuff on Jamerson in there too. Great playing, this was inspirational. peace

  • thx drtywrm!

i already got to see some parts of the documentary. not the whole yet though. hope i will soon :)

  • Fender Jazz FTW. Looks just like mine before I put a black pickguard on.

    Wilton Felder,James Jamerson...who?: )

  • Dude, cool.. Thats what bass playing is all about. Rythym.

  • I read on Wikipedia that Wilton Felder played bass on I Want U Back...But it's gotta B James

  • actually it was wilton fender

  • This sounds good. Nice tribute to Jamerson. You got some soul in you! Right on!

  • thx very much!

  • What amp are u using? i got a beringer 4500 head (450 watt) and a 15 inch cab.
