Our ozone layer depletes and replenishes itself on a regular basis. But Gore and his environmental extremists would have us believe the the ozone is depleted and never replenished.
In 1966, I did a "book report" for school. The book I chose was "The Population Bomb". The author, was Paul Erhlich. He reminds me of the scientists of today. He predicted that the population of the earth would not be sustainable and that by 1982 (16 years in the future) we'd have MASS STARVATION in AMERICA! @speriwrinkle1 exactly, this is the point I always make. If he was truly concerned, he would buy carbon credits so that other people couldn't use them. And then on top of that he would limit his own carbon use, that is if he was truly concerned for the planet. If you ask meteorologists they'll tell you the earth goes from cooling trend to warming trend every 30 years or so, which we are now starting a cooling trend. After accounting for that the temperature has risen by less than 1 degree, which is negligible.

@cottonrun1 I'm not talking about "Jason Storm" from local news 4. I'm looking for facts as well and a 8 tenths of a degree change over the last 20 years doesn't tell me it's panic time. Secondly, we've only been keeping data since about the 1930's or 1940's so I'm sorry if I don't find that to be a large enough sample size compared to the history of the world, that would dictate we pass some time of cap & trade legislation.

The EPA subverted Constitution and banned DDT in the 1970's (still banned to this day and they have been working the entire time to have it banned world wide) due to "global cooling" outcries. No scientific proof linking DDT to anything and yet it was banned. Oh wait, what do you know same thing is happening today is it not?
@cottonrun1 ok that's understandable. If we want to take a look at DDT because it has caused harm to people then I'm fine with that. Go through the process, pass legislation to ban it for the negative health affects. Treat it like asbestos. But that isn't want happened, the EPA went around the Constitution as they normally do and they banned because they believed that it was contributing to global cooling. Many meteorologist say now that we were on a cooling trend that end in the 70's or 80's.

If you have no problem with the President (not just Obama obviously) having their agenda pushed through by unelected and unaccountable agencies as opposed to passing legislation through congress, then that's fine, have at it. In "socialist" countries, NOBODY is turned away. In the US, some 20,000 people DIE each year, because they receive no care at all for their treatable illnesses. In the US MILLIONS lose their homes due to bancruptsy caused by MEDICAL BILLS (most of those unfortunates HAVE health insurance!)
We are living in a FOR PROFIT medical system. PROFIT is the ONLY objective. We KILL (or let die) THOUSANDS to keep share-holders happy.

@thebackbencher666 Yes, and uninsured people "walking" into an emergency room, where they then have to typically wait nearly three hours for care, is part of what drives the cost of care up for the rest of us. The cost of that care, which often cannot be recouped, is passed along through insurance claims.
You know, there are plenty of options between the failing market system for health care and bolshevism. It's not an either/or choice.

@thebackbencher666 Rich people come here because for highly specialized care we do have the best talent in the world, though that's rapidly changing (China, again). Life span rates in the countries you lament are higher than in the USA. Why? Because for preventative and general care their systems focus on finding and treating conditions early, and people take advantage because the service costs them nothing. Yes, they aren't perfect, but they're more cost effective in the long run.

So tell me, what exactly do you think they're going to do when they submit their results? Let's not forget climatgate, why is that we pretend that never happened? Science isn't coming up with a premise and then finding data to support it rather than looking at the data and drawing a conclusion.

And I think you've agreed with me that global warming science is faulty because the premise is that we have global warming, now let's prove it. @speriwrinkle1 exactly, this is the point I always make. If he was truly concerned, he would buy carbon credits so that other people couldn't use them. And then on top of that he would limit his own carbon use, that is if he was truly concerned for the planet. This is what I've always said, as soon as I see Al Gore driving a prius, and video conferencing because he gave up his private jet and he sells his 9 mansions for a 900 sqft condo, then I'll start worrying.

@cottonrun1 First of all, Al Gore doesn't get up and do this every morning for 20 years, he sits back and collects paychecks because of saps like you that take his word for the gospel. If you ask meteorologists they'll tell you the earth goes from cooling trend to warming trend every 30 years or so, which we are now starting a cooling trend. After accounting for that the temperature has risen by less than 1 degree, which is negligible.

@cottonrun1 Really? Meteorologists aren't doing research and aren't qualified? Why is that because they don't agree with your point of view? Definition: Meteorology -Scientific study of atmospheric phenomena, particularly of the troposphere and lower stratosphere. Meteorology entails the systematic study of weather and its causes, and provides the basis for weather forecasting.
If you want to talk about source, find me a "climatologist" that doesn't have an incentive to prove global warming.

@cottonrun1 I'm not talking about "Jason Storm" from local news 4. I'm looking for facts as well and a 8 tenths of a degree change over the last 20 years doesn't tell me it's panic time. Secondly, we've only been keeping data since about the 1930's or 1940's so I'm sorry if I don't find that to be a large enough sample size compared to the history of the world, that would dictate we pass some time of cap & trade legislation.

Also do you have a response to the fact that those now screaming for legislation to stop global warming were in the ones screaming for legislation in the 1960's & 1970's to stop global cooling, when we were on a cooling trend, which we have just recently re-entered?

@cottonrun1 I wasn't "parroting" something I heard. I must admit you were correct and I was wrong, no legislation was passed. The EPA subverted Constitution and banned DDT in the 1970's (still banned to this day and they have been working the entire time to have it banned world wide) due to "global cooling" outcries. No scientific proof linking DDT to anything and yet it was banned. Oh wait, what do you know same thing is happening today is it not?

@cottonrun1 ok that's understandable. If we want to take a look at DDT because it has caused harm to people then I'm fine with that. Go through the process, pass legislation to ban it for the negative health affects. Treat it like asbestos. But that isn't want happened, the EPA went around the Constitution as they normally do and they banned because they believed that it was contributing to global cooling. Many meteorologist say now that we were on a cooling trend that end in the 70's or 80's.

If you have no problem with the President (not just Obama obviously) having their agenda pushed through by unelected and unaccountable agencies as opposed to passing legislation through congress, then that's fine, have at it. But I'm not one of those "The Constitution is a Living, Breathing Document" people. I believe it means what it says and the founders didn't intend appointed agencies to create law.

@frogsoda I hope you are not unsure about this one FROG... Yes, CO2 is natural. It has made this planet habitable, in fact. Concentrations have gone up and down in the atmosphere for 1000's of years. When its lacking it causes "ice ages"(there have been a few) and when it is in abundance it causes heat waves... What we are doing is UNnatural. We are taking a liquid trapped under the ground and converting it into a gas, en mass. Its going to have an effect over time. You must understand this!

@cottonrun1 There is NO connection between Co2 and temperature. Even in algore's sad little movie he get's on a lift to show how high Co2 levels are. If there was a connection, we would have temperatures over 200 degrees Right Now. A fourth grader can see that.
