  • nicely done

  • Awesome bear man!!!

  • nice vid man i love it

  • Awesome hunt! i personally live and hunt in ID... not diggin the hat though! hahaha again cool vid

  • That looked pretty gay to me. No challenge, just point and squeeze. Like taking pictures or playing games. ~Sickening

  • Good hunt man!

  • Awesome video! You should upload it to my hunting tube .com let more hunters watch it.

  • that was one of the cleanest kills ive seen

  • Nice clean kill brother !

  • what calll is that

  • this video is just an disrespect to the mother nature ........kill for fun is not cool , dude!

  • Looks like bones and gut to me! I quick quarter any time possible!

  • Good video. Thanks for sharing.

  • good shot mate ,

  • nobody eats bear any way it tastes like crap and if you saw some of the stuff they eat you would know why. nice job any way

  • Congrta! I missed a east oregon bear that could have been its twin lol! Nice hat buy the way! How long did it take to call that bear in? I tried for abouit 3 days last year and never even saw a coyote! Also where was this at in Idahoe? I hunt the snake river area of oregon!

  • the meat gets eaten whether buy coyotes crows or humans it all goes back to nature....

  • Great video. What an awesome first bear.

  • congratulations on your first bear, im hopeing to get my fisrt bear this spring

  • getting damned tired of this whole " boning " out game. i have seen two elk and two deer this year " boned " a hell of a lot of berger was wasted. i am 75 pounds overwieght and bring it all out. last i checked evidence of sex is required to be left on the game. the bear i don't care about it is legal to leave the whole thing

  • @bovis14 I agree. I would never bone one out on the hill - impossible to keep the meat clean. Evidence of sex is attached - I leave it attached to the hind quarter. I reckon we all have our pet peeves - some are tired of people leaving scrap meat, I'm tired of ATV hunters and people that won't use their legs for what God made them for. It's pointless to argue - I'm sure if we met on the trail somewhere we would share a common cammaraderie.

    Happy hunting.

  • @basecamplegends haha im tired of ATV hunters also! are you from idaho? cuz i see them EVERYWHERE in idaho now! mostly from california >:(

  • this is wasting. i am damned tired of people " boning " out elk and leaving a to of hamburger. i am 75 pounds overwieght and quarter my game and bring it all out. don't see why everyone else can't. last i looked evidence of sex should be attached.

  • NIce video! I drew the same tag but for the fall hunt. Been up there once already and saw alot of sign, but no bears. Congrats to you! Calling do much good in the fall? No dogs so i need to find a better option.

  • @johnson15107 My mom has been elk hunting up there and saw 4 bears in a few trips - including a real nice one (here's video - you'll need to delete the space between the dot and the com: basecamplegends. com/2010/09/deer-and-elk-tags-and-what-do-we-see/) but I've not seen any this fall. I would certainly try the predator calling deal...it's worth a shot! This time of year, you may end up calling lots of yotes, though.

  • do you watch your video? if you watch yourself walking away from the carcas and making no mention of the meat being taken people will think it went to waste. i am an idaho outdoorsman as well. don't care if you left it or not but it makes us all look bad. sorry if you thought my comments were insulting. it wasn't ment that way. good hunting

  • @bovis14 See my reply to davewillard111. I'm sick of defending my position on this.

  • @basecamplegends fuck em all!! you dont need to defend shit. they are just a bunch of arm chair quarterbacks. great kill. were you around the weiser or mill creek anywhere? the beginning of the video looked a bit like dodsons. again, nice bear, lord knows there are plenty of em in that unit.

  • not a good idea showing the wasting of meat

  • @bovis14 Yes, I'm sure he put his tag on it (with numbers corresponding to his personal information) just so that it could be left behind with the carcass!

  • @bovis14 Eh? I'm confused. We packed all the useable meat out - even though you are not required to by the state of ID - because I love bear meat. I'm not sure what you're alluding to.

  • Um did you leave the meat on the mountain and just take the hide? I really hope not!

  • @KainanRa See my response above - people, my pack weighed 125 pounds...it was certainly not just hide. Bear meat makes excellent roasts and hamburger. Not so great steaks.

  • @basecamplegends Good to hear. I know it is not illegal and you can leave it if you want but I would try not to show it on the video. Good to hear you got some out. Great video otherwise. Happy hunting.

  • @basecamplegends Lot of carcass still laying there. 7min 57 sec in to the vid. That's way more than just bone bro. I think the whole calling thing was awesome! I'll try it next spring. I'll also leave nothing edible behind. We've taken a bear for the last two years, and nothing but bones goes in the trash.

  • @davewillard111 The reason there is a lot of carcass left is because I don't gut animals - I quick quarter them so I don't have to get messy - it's slick work. My pack weighed 117 pounds (approx. as our meat scale only goes up to 100, so I had to do the ol stand on the bathroom scale method) I take 4 quarters, backstrap, and tenderloins. The rip meat and neck meat would just get thrown away during butchering (we do our own) so I don't bother taking it.

  • @basecamplegends Cool man, didn't mean to start beef with you, just wanna make sure the peta minded morons have less ammo on us. I've seen a elk quartered that way, and I think I'll try it. Also very cool to see another guy hunting with his lady. My wife started hunting with me a few years ago and it's a great thing to share!

  • @davewillard111 No prob - just get a little hot under the collar being accused of a waster. :)

You should look into quartering them up that way...sure beats getting messy up to the elbows. Plus keeps the meat much cleaner. We do all our butchering - from field to freezer, and since I learned this technique, I wouldn't go back to the old way of gutting animals for anything!

  • GREAT VIDEO ! HAVE A LOOK AT MY SPRING BEAR

  • good shot man

  • Nice bear guys. Cool video. Never called one in myself yet.

  • @Surgehunt I never had before, myself. Was a rush!

  • Predator calling is the only way to go! Good work man. Congrats. Tell Shannon to not wear black while hunting bear! ;) Pretty color.

  • @saylean Good point - I never even thought of that! I guess our problem is we've never seen another human bear hunting that same drainage - a few turkey hunters, but never bear hunters.

  • Nice shot! Smoked him! Great color on that bear. Enjoyed the footage, you guys did awesome!

  • awesome video, shot and bear!!
