I have a scary story that I used to tell to everyone when I was young, it didn't scare many people. then I decided to tell it again at camp to my cabin mates in the dark a few weeks ago, not expecting it to scare them.

I saw a young girl a few weeks ago reading Scary stories at work (I'm a server) and commented on how the left a lasting impression on me as a child to the point that I could almost recite every story from memory. I didn't mention that every illustration haunted me (in the best of ways) when I asked if I could flip through the young lady's book for nostalgia. Unfortunately I found out some sellout douch named brett hellquist managed to replace Stephen Gammell with shiite uninspired artwork.

Sometimes still, almost 5 years later at night when my mind wanders off and I think of some of the pictures from it I still am scared to look thinking that thing would be standing right next to my bed looking down on me. I got the treasury for this and read it from cover to cover when I was in 3rd grade (I was pretty stupid back then...) and I must say this is the only movie, game, book, etc. That has scared me absolutely helpless. It gave me horible sleep deprevation just thinking about at night, I averaged about 5-7 hours of sleep a night in 3rd grade. Also it made me refuse to turn my head away from my door in fear something would come in and has made me sleep with the covers over my head.
