Does banana bread work with icing or does it taste strange? Because I would like to use some of your cupcake decorating tips but on banana bread, would that work? Thankyou (:
I don't think you need to put flour in the chocolate chips for some people, because when i add chocolate chips to muffins, cakes or bread they don't sink at the bottom i don't know why but maybe of overmixing the batter make it dense and difficult.
Nicely done! I've made a version of this bread check it out. I don't know if putting flour on the chips works or not (I tried it too) I think you could always take some of the batter and put a small layer on the bottom of the pan. I requested a video response but didn't see it I hope you will allow :)
@yoyomax12 Sometimes I will see the request and when I click approve nothing happens. You can only attach a video response to one video at a time. Have you attached it to another? If not, just re-send the video response request.
HEY, I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS ME AND MY NAN LOVE TO BAKE AND WE ALWAYS TAKE TIPS FROM YOUR VIDEOS, I HAVE A QUESTION, AS YOU USE BANANA'S FOR BANANA BREAD WOULD IT BE POSSIBLE TO GO CRAZY AND MAKE SOMETHING ALONG THE LINES OF APPLE BREAD OR PEAR BREAD? OR EVEN PEANUT BUTTER BREAD! THAT WOULD BE SO TASTY! HOPE TO HEAR BACK FROM YOU ;D
@chocolate879 If you want to leave the chocolate chips out, just leave them out. The recipe I use is for plain banana bread, I just added the chocolate chips in myself!
You can add vanilla to any baking recipe, all it does is give a bit of flavour to otherwise bland things (like frosting for example).
thanks for telling me that you made this and enjoyed it! I really do enjoy hearing from people. :)
I cant wait to see what comes out of the oven! hahahaha! The mixture looked exactly like what you had there so it might be alright. Will let you know. In all the hype, Nigel turns around to me and says "but i dont like banana". : 0 ~
I did it hun! Didnt have the teaspoon of baking powder though and only realised that after the supermarket was closed. I added everything elce. Then i discovered i didnt have toothpicks! I'll have to trust the "hollow sound" technique. Just had enough bananas. I added "milk chocolate" chips. They didnt have the other sort. Also... i didnt know the difference between "strong flour" and "all purpose" flour! I used regular self raising white flour.
@Supportahol The self rising flour has the baking powder in it, so you should be okay with that. I've never heard of "strong flour" before, is it whole wheat?
Hun, you are seriously the best chef here on youtube that i have ever watched. This has gone right into my favourites and that means i will definately try to make it. I must buy an electric blender hun. Like the one you have there. I was using forks and all that. Fellas in the kitchen huh?! I had banana bread only once, years ago. Eggcellent idea flouring the chocolate chips. Helps them to hang on. Didnt matter that some of the chips went down with the ship! : 0 )
I have been making banana bread with chocolate chips for many years now and I must say it is my favorite. I will try coating the chocolate chips too.
I also freeze my banana bread. I always make 4 maybe 5 loafs so I freeze some and when I defrost them they taste so fresh. I have even make muffins with this recipe,,, it came out great.
I think I will make some tomorrow.... I have a few dark bananas... yummy ^)^
@mrsbowlingballout This freezes so well! I only had two bananas otherwise I would have made a double batch. So nice just popping one of these out of the freezer and having a home made dessert!
@feliciajuly I also have a peanut butter lover co-worker at work and I've even used peanut butter in this cake. Peanut butter chips are even a better idea!
Wow - that did look yummy. Banana bread (or cake) is the only way I'll eat bananas. I don't care for them, but add enough fat grams and sugar and suddenly, they are okay! :) Please tell Max hello from Los Angeles!
@TheVittleVlog Thanks! I usually try to do interesting or unusual recipes on here, but the basic ones are good too. I have a few beginning bakers that watch me too.
Yanno, don't think I've ever had the sinking to the bottom problem with banana bread.. I think maybe the recipe was too...watery? I think my recipe is too thick for that to happen. But the flour coated choc chips should work if you don't work it too much into the wet ingredients to .. rub all the flour off. You may try putting in a layer of bread, sprinkle chips, then another layer of bread, then sprinkle chips on top of that and see how it does?
My husband's second favorite home made cake!! (His all time favorite being chocolate brownies). It reminds me that I haven't made one for a while...
I love banana bread but I'm one of those weird people who hates mixing any fruit with chocolate... I just add a tablespoon of rhum for a special touch... He! He! :D
I love banana bread esp with cream cheese on it! Ina Garten always puts her added ingredients in flour first; chips, nuts, etc. She says they won't go to the bottom? Your bread looks great!
@wildheart5 I think that that it what I should have done instead of adding a little flour to the chips. I didn't think of it until I was about the add the chips at the end!
I prepare the same bread but with out choco chips and i use a muffin tin sheet to bake my bread......next time i will prepare with the choco chips....:) thanks for the recipe tammy

@TheBunkitty I think the type of batter and the amount of mixing does make a difference for sure

Maybe mist the choc chips w/ water and then flour them to keep from sinking? I will try next time around!
