  • is emb still there?

  • ?!?!?? late front 3 shuv at the end?!??!?!??...

  • @GourmetGoblinz EMB has been completely remodeled for over 10 years now... The gonz gap and old EMB can only be relived in videos I'm afraid. They skatebocked the shit out of the new EMB as well as Peir 7... Not sure about hubba, but they prolly wrecked that too.

  • I remember skating old EMB, so fuckin loud over those bricks. Looked at the Gonz gap a couple times, pretty much said "fuck that". Good shit, thanks for posting.

  • mike carroll mike carroll!!!!!

  • 2:12 jason adams?!!?!!?!

  • I love how it was acceptable to do 3 or 4 pop shuvits in a row in a line. Fucking rad. Skating today is too serious.

  • the black skater killed it . his hair is a best

  • @thefatpappa That's Javontae Turner btw dude, he's one of my faves from this era. Look him up he has the raddest style and smoothness.

  • this guy sucks

  • So was EMB torn down or is it just un skateable now?

  • was that kinked rail at EMB too?

  • No, but it was downtown area I'm pretty sure.

  • fresh tricks the last one is hard 360 fs shuv hell yeah

  • they did tricks so fluently back then man

  • dude this was the good old days man real skating no nerdflips no El Toro or wallenberg just EMB the hubba hideout and stuff man studie up on these guys CHICO , GUY , MIKE CARROL , RICK HOWARD AND THE GONZ all guys that never faded out man still skating after all the EMB peeps faded studie up on Steve R

  • so pretty much your saying that chris cole and eric koston and berra and the whole lot of pros are faded. you study up. dude skating is at its peak right now.

  • dude skating is sick right now yes Chris Cole and Koston are my 2 all time fav skaters. The Berrics are sick. I'm not saying nerdflips and el toro aren't cool I'm just saying that It wasn't like a Job then it was just chillin with friends and having fun on a skatboard. Skateboarding now is way different then it used to be. Its fun learning about skate history its very interesting.

  • @superian2u Look at skating now though, the sport will always continue to evolve.

  • late front 4 shuv wtf?

  • front 3 shuv*

  • late fs 360 shuv or front foot impossible?!

  • just so you know its all caped off. pire 7 dosent exist any more. hubba hide out is hard to skate too.

  • i skated this its all skate stoped now so its not that good

    but it has history

  • I was living in Redwood Shores at the time, about age 13. It was kind of scary going to the big bad city to visit EMB so we didn't go to often. I remember visiting two shops in SF, FTC and Skates on Hate.

Back then Oracle had not yet moved to Redwood Shores but there were many business parks with similar setups, we referred to it as Mini EMB.

  • yup...I lived in Belmont (Carlmont 90 to 94)..I remember skating mini Emb..w/ the sharp angled concrete 'handrails'. Dewd, In 1989 there used to be a 8' wide 4' tall mini half pipe that some kids built out on 'the mud' where the landfill met the water..no lie, and what about 'Gazebo'..round wooden thing by the bride w/ banks like china banks!!!

  • where in san fan is dat place i so gotta go there when iam over there

  • Market ST toword the piers......it ends there

  • Comment removed

  • naw man.

    cant skate there no more.

they put fucking brass animals and shit to skate stop it but make it look nice.

sucks dick on how many spots in san fran they skate stopped or destroyed

  • lol , look hard and you'll find

  • what does EMB mean?

  • eat my balls

  • embarcaderro

thats the spot...its a street in frisco...peir 7's on it too

  • embarcadero....

  • embarcadaro

  • tschüss

  • Is there anything left to skate there or is everything destroyed?

  • is that the style back then ?

    pretty much all shuvits ?

  • hah thats what it seems like from some of this footage but no they were not the main trick back then. this was around the time they started really reinventing skateboarding and creating all the crazy flip tricks we see and do today.some skaters did flip tricks in the 80s but the early 90s is when everything started really developing

  • whats the itchy knuckle syndrome?

  • the sounds outa sync the clikiti clack keeps goin even when he is not on the cobbled plaza

  • hahaha duuuude it's the filmer's board clickiti clacking

  • From Skateboarder Magazine May 2003, Vol. 12 #9:

For years, the world famous San Francisco skate spot Embarcadero has been wrongly referred to as "EMB." In fact, EMB is the acronym for the locals that skated there. EMB stands for "Embarco's Most Blunted." Confuse the two again, and you're getting a 'bow to the head.

  • IBC/ 640 fool!..comment on that!

  • what year is this from?

  • is emb still there and skatable?

  • they putm skatestoppers allover the place, unless someone removed em

  • Did they completely take out the little 4 step thing?

  • yea its a 6 now

  • wtf?! was the second trick mike carroll did in the beggining

  • back 180 body varial

  • this is amazing

  • weird to see him do the 2 bonelss tricks no one did those it seemed in that time

  • i really wish i could skate the old embaracerdo center. RIP EMB

  • embarcadero* wow, i sounded like a jerk a month ago

  • can you post that venture vid

  • I will eventually post the venture vid for sure.

  • thanks heaps

  • 'oh alright then'...is that about the same time you propose to put up some og footage of all the Palo Alto skaters as well?..we'll be waiting a long time then mr. rosenberg.

  • whoa..sorry, this was aimed at Jake Rosenberg, filmer extraordinaire.

  • Oh, and just so you know, kids: b/s 180 heelflips and f/s 180 kickflips weren't really being done until probably 2 or 3 years after this was filmed. Mike Carroll was owning it. Look at those Airwalk shoes. They're huge!

  • I completely agree with those of you who are saying that the best time to be skating was ca. 89-92. Hokus Pokus and The Questionable Video bookended this period when skating was really underground, but kids like Mike Carroll. Jovantae and Henry Sanchez were totally pushing the envelope.

Question: you have any footy of Ronnie Bertino? That guy was so good.

  • Actually, I have a ton of Ronny footy. Haven't posted it yet though. I was filming him for the never released Venture video and Think Crime video.

  • uh....

    A bunch of ledges,the infamous 3 stair and a 6.

  • what is actually left of emb?, i havent been there in about 10 years.....

  • What game?

    You lost me ,man.

I live in san jose,I can take BART(Bay area rapid transport( there.

I cant say theres alot left of the emb,but still fun.

Dont think skaters dont go there anymore.

i saw maybe around 20 when I went just in the emb area.

  • I skated at the emb yesterday.

    Good stuff.

  • cool. which video game did you skate it in? i have fond memories of skating it in thrasher:skate and destroy but the new game EA skate has the old EMB in it too. how cool is that? so, what did you session at today's EMB? flat ground?

  • emb used to be a hang out place for skaters and people. there was a lot of fights and blackouts so they got tired and changed emb to stop skateboarders come hang out there and the crime reduced fast. if it wasn't for crime, emb would be still there..

  • there were so many damn shuvits

  • damn that was sick, espicially the last two lines by carroll.

and that manual thing at about 2:18 was sick!

  • good ole days

  • my dad said that they closed down the EMB because of skateboarders and noone can skate there

  • are people not allowed to skate at EMB anymore?

  • no because some fucktard security gaurd fucking called the cops while people were there so he comes back every once in a while and calls the cops.. but people still skate there

  • mike carroll is so natural, and jovantae's 360 flip is the best!

  • mike carroll late frs 360

  • that was fucking amazing.

  • Thanks!

    Loving these videos xD

  • Was that an ollie late 360 shove it? Oh my gosh, their really good!

  • wow, that last trick

  • Video gold. The second last clip of Mike Carroll, where he hits the camera, is amzing. So much flow and individuality.

  • Delayed 360 shoveit was sweet!

  • I agree, it's an oldie but goodie.

  • Did you film this cos its sick

  • Damn, those were the dayzzzz.

  • the early 90's were the best times for skateboarding in my opinon, the style, just the feeling in that time, now i think its alot different, long live EMB!

  • I think you are right on. There was virtually no money in skating at that time, however skating was in the midst of pure innovations. More tricks were created in the early 90s than any other time in skating. A big part of it was the revolution in board design. When I watched that Virtual Reality opening again, it stood out today, 15 years later as a great opening, even by today's standards and that says a lot.

  • just awesome, i love these 90s skate videos ah!!

  • was that jason adams?

  • yup.

  • Wow, thats one gem of an upload, thanks for that man!

  • I never had a chance to skate EMB, but I guess this is as close as I'm gonna get. Thank you.

  • AMAZING!!!! THANK YOU

  • holy shit this is fuckin treasure right here thanks for posting!
