I've seen many, many bands play live in my life. But these guys as a 15 year old in the Cork City Hall 20 years ago this December was still the best by a country mile. Real music, real musicians.
I have this very same album (gold printing indicating it is a "promotional copy and not for resale or play, etc.." included...that caught my eye). My late husband played this album for me in 1985 when we were first dating and I fell madly in love with both him and The Waterboys. I still have the album and it remains one of my favorites. I bought tickets to see The Waterboys about 3 yrs ago and ended up taking my son (then 16) since my husband was too ill to go...bittersweet to say the least.
@supasap Those are my 2 favorite songs by The Waterboys, but their song library is overflowing with other great tunes. They still tour and hit England in February.
Here are a couple of songs that strike a nerve in me: Fisherman’s Blues (watch the Electric Picnic 2010 YouTube version of this song... outrageously good), I will not follow, And a Bang on the Ear, When ye go Away, A Girl Called Johnny.
A lot of people ask me what kind of music I am into, I start to explain and then just say you would`nt understand. =]

Waterboys are still too much underrated. Mike Scott is really great composer, vocalist and poet

@hillman39 And they are still performing! Check out Mike Scott's site - Mick Puck on soundcloud. Live Savage Earth Heart track is fantastic.

If it hadn't been for a trip to Scotland in the 90's, I might not have heard of this band as soon as I did!! Thank You Johnny McCallum!!!
