i am from honduras so i know this there is some crime in honduras but if you dont go out at night or go to olancho you will be safe if traveling in the mainland try to have some people with you

@archernator47 pues te respondere con sinceridad en Honduras no es que no se reciban a los mexicanos lo que sucede es que con el tema del football se ha difamado mucho la cosa por nuestros paises... habemos cultos y sin prejuicios en este pais. Seria como decir que en Mexico no aceptan a personas de aqui y ambos sabemos que no es correcto. parte de mi familia no es de aqui y creeme que por experiencia te digo es un bello lugar para extrangeros. Great video of Roatan.

Even on the mainland (La Ceiba) there are expensive places to eat. You need to find the values anywhere you travel and there are plenty in Roatan and La Ceiba.

What is expensive to one is cheap to another.......

In any case, if Roatan is too expensiv for someone try La Ceiba on the mainland. Here we have direct beachfront homes in La Ceiba Beach Club for only $139,900.00 USD.

I agree. If you want a true vacation to an inexpensive Cental American location...the mainland of Honduras is the place to go. Consider La Ceiba as the first choice of destination.

You can find great prices including investment properties like La Ceiba Beach Club like mentioned.

kind expensive. 12/21/09 for a '4th' world country. $100 for thai food, 3 people 3 beers 3 dihes!! Perhaps it's slow and tourists get ripped off in west end or i.e. a cappuccino and bagel almost $9? yes grocery are cheap.

Nice place to eat at Palmetto Bay Plantation or try a real italian restaurant 'Risto Magic'. Overall an expensive island for it's under development and very low wages. Great friendly people though!

What part of the island did you stay? If it was the tourist-y part then yes, it's expensive. We stayed near West End and the food was quite reasonable.

There is Dolphin Hotel i Roatán, i stayed there when i went there. Is the cheaper i think, and it's nice and confortable but small rooms, it doesnt matter cuz when u go u wont stay at the hotel, but to sleep, you'll see.

I believe you need to educate yourself. Firstly there are not many posionous creatures, and definately no more than anywhere in the US of A.

Botflies and toothpick fish are all in the amazon. We're probably 600 miles or so from the nearest botfly. Please be knowledgeable before you post such things.

There is a little mistake in the video, the second largest barrier reef is not in Honduras, it is "the Apo" coral reef in philippines, it is also a world heritage (the first one is the great barrier reef in Australia).

pues tomas el ferry desde ceiba y llegas a roatan como en 1 hora o 1:30. claro puedes agarrar avion desde SPS y estas alli como en media hora. se lo recomiendo el viaje, roatan es precioso!

The nature is beautiful but that is all it has. The main street is not paved??!!! What do you do after 5 PM, eat and go to sleep. They need a boardwalk with some night life. Not everybody goes to bed with the chickens.

I live in Honduras capital, but i constantly go there... in my opinion Roatan is a splendid beach.. and it is true poverty is a great issue there.. But still is a paradie! In my opinion the best resort there in the Henry Morgan.. too bad it is a little expensive... it is totally worth it tho...
