@samuxxn anything less than a G4 eMac........ yes... i did say G4 eMac.... will not be fast enough render YouTube videos smoothly. I should know. I tried it on a Rev. D iMac G3/333mhz and on my iMac G3/600 Snow (white model). As for the 600mhz iMac, the video was choppy and the audio was so out of sync, that the video finished playing before the audio track finished!
@samuxxn not very well at all, but if you do want to try, download the camino browser. if that doesn't work out well for you, download a program called mactubes, which will let you search and download youtube videos without opening your browser. :)
i have this same imac and i was wondering if anyone had the upgrade cd disk or know where i could get a hold of one-i think it is on os 9 (the origional os) but would like to see how it works with the upgraded os-] its just sitting in my computer room begging to be setup,lol...thanx if anyone can help...
My big sister had this, nd i wuz so jealous, until i got me eMac, now i got a 27'' iMac tha 2.8Ghz Intel i7 8GB RAM it flies. nd im getting the best iMac G3 around
I have a powermac g4 that lasted only 9 years the it started acting weird and slow and died :(. I have the keyboard, the pro mouse, and the screen but all dusty.
@donnavega1986 I can help you upgrade it. I upgrade old macs as a hobby. Send me a message. If you need it, chances are I have it as far as OS discs go.
@tyriflanigan You can install OSX from 10.0 to 10.3 without a DVD drive, since it came with CD not DVD. Tiger came with CD or DVD, but I heard the CD version is rare or something like that.
I had two tray-loading iMac's before. My first one was 9 years ago and I had the Raspberry and then 2 years later I got a Tangerine iMac which my uncle gave to my cousin and sent it overseas and now it's broken, but the Raspberry that's with my baby cousin is still running perfectly and it's using the Mac OS X 10.1 (Puma). Gotta love these classic innovative Mac's.
i have one of these in the REV.D Blueberry variety. the A and B versions (Bondi Blue) were the only ones with an IrDA transceiver on them, unfortunately. Mine runs Jaguar (10.2) OH, 9.0.4 can be updated to 9.2.2. Mine has that issue with the power button. Also, mine was $35 with keyboard and mouse. WOW, 100MHz maked a difference. Mine is much faster :P (it also has 192MB of ram, its only supposed to have 132. Also, iMovie became part of iLife in 10.4 (wow, long comment!)
Well I got mine from the school they where trowing a G3's away and me and some other people asked and got some. but this was last year or so and during the summer so the schools may be fresh out =P idk man if your in high school go to your tec lab or grafic design class and ask if they are trowing any old equipment away.
Do you know how to update the firmware on these. I have one that has OS 9.1.0 and I'd like to install Mac OS X but have been unsuccessful in my attempts to install the firmware updates.
well, it looks cute but believe me you'll hate it sooner or later if u have to work with it. The shape is annoying - I had a grape imac with that mouse, that's why...
What's great about this model iMac is that you can boot it up from both the power button on the computer or on the keyboard. There is a power button on the keyboard that you can use to power on the computer. :)
Our apartment has one of those in the community room. It runs 10.3.9 on it with 288 of ram, and a 20 gig hd. The machine looks clean for how old it is.
i plan on purchasing my first Mac, and i'm looking for some advice. should i save up like $1,000 and get the best Mac Mini possible brand new, or should i buy a cheaper, used Mac off of eBay (and if so, what kind)? i'd check the classifieds in my local newspaper but i live in the middle of nowhere and nobody even has a Mac.
i'd recommend getting the mac mini, if you get an older non intel mac off ebay which used PowerPC cpus, certain applications may not run as only can use an intel processor. most are universal meaning that they will run on both the PowerPC RISC & Intel X86 architecture
i might get the mac mini, so i can install windows XP and not have to buy mac versions of games. i'd also like a mac pro, but they're expensive as hell.
i got 5 macs myself, a Macbook, 3 mac minis and a PowerMac g4, the mac mini rules i use one as a media center from my tv, another for general work and the other mini for backups
No, it has both OS 9 and OS X on it. The scene change was because my camera has a limit of 3 minutes and I didn't want it to suddenly stop recording in the middle of something, so I played it safe and stopped recording before the 3 minute mark.
Got one sitting in my room right now it's great I also have a g3 power pc laptop on top of it oh yeah

The only thing that sucks about the tray G3's is they cannot boot to USB. The Slot loaders could.

What do you use with the IR sensor?
simdude2u 3 years ago
It was put on there for beaming files from devices such as mobile phones. Apparently you could also beam files from other IR-compatible Macs.

Thats awesome for $15! So this thing has both Mac OS 9 and 10 on it, or did you wipe 9 and install 10 between scene changes?
Also, which came first - the tray-loading iMac or the slot-loading one?
Another awesome video, keep it up!
