Haha... you raised it with fantails so it's trying to fit in.. wierd thing is it even swims like one. Judging from how fat she is, you really must love her. I love my koi's too.
With her right in the middle of the house- always acting hungry- everyone keeps feeding her- not realizing she already ate. They have no stomach- its actually hard to over feed a Koi I'm told.
@kaluevue actually the koi has long fins is because it's a mix between the long fin carp and a common koi carp which notice they are both carp allowing interbreeding.
@kaluevue Hard to over feed a Koi because they have no stomach. Thats why they are always hungry- They aren't greedy- they really are hungry again an hour later. I feed her a few koi pellets at a time every time she lets me know she's hungry.
She makes her head side to side at the top of the water when I walk by her tank- if that doesn't get my attention- she splashes me! She has great aim!

actually- she hardly ate for around 2 months over winter- despite the fact I live in Hawaii where there is no real winter.

@makenatile Yep, they will always eat everytime you feed them, your koi may have some dragonfin blood in it too, that's why it has such long fins.
