  • An amazing moment, truely one of the greatest in Yankee history. I think it's hilarious that red sox fans have nothing better to do then sit here watch the video and bad mouth him. I would figure you all would be watching Aaron Boone blast one of Wakefield to win the pennant, or maybe Bucky hitting one over the monster off mike torrez. Please sox fans shut up, when you win 27 rings you can officially talking shit.

  • My favorite all-time player!!

  • O'Neil was great just because he showed up and did his job. He wasn't an embarrasment, nor did he act foolishly. He was a " lunch pail " kind of athlete. those are few and far between these days. Paulie's era was a great time to be a Yankee Fan. Guys like Paul and Jeter and Bernie,,, rare finds.

    signed,, Yankee fan since '59

  • "O-VERRATED"

    "O-VERRATED"

Thats what yankees fans were chanting. He couldn't hit in the playoffs, he choked a couple of times in crunch time.

He was told he was gone after 2001 so he reitred than playing for another team cause he knew he was nothing without the yanks.

  • @gfscarface13 Shut the Hell up...Whats your team the RedSox? They only choked 99 out of 100 times in the playoffs

  • @gfscarface13 Im a Yankee Hater but your an idoit

  • Why do the Yankees want to retire every single fuckin jersey number...what the hell is the signifiance of that?

  • @neerrg People worthy of the honor

  • @neerrg Who do you have sweet pea???

  • Im a Sox fan but ive always liked Paul he was an awesome player

  • talk about a clutch player, this guy was so intense and loved the game. he was as clutch as it got. PAULIE!!

  • yeah plus how can you say the Yankees suck they won the world series 27 times and i mean we have Mark Teixera, Derek Jeter, Nick Swisher, Alex Rodriguez, Jorge Posada, Robinson Cano and Brett Gardner basically like every position has a player who is amazing. Plus the pitchers Phil Hughes, CC Sabathia , Andy Pettite, and not that good but good enough Javier Vazquez.

  • How the fuck could anyone badmouth Paul O Neill? Too many haters in this world.

  • @EeVvAaNn3

go fuck yourself red soxs fan 27 baby nuff said

  • I'm a Sox fan, but he's easily one of my favorite Yankees. Fun player to watch, had some nice seasons (1994, where he put up a line of .359/.460/.603 in 443 PA). I don't think he should be in the HOF (although, if he had a few more AS-caliber seasons, my opinion would probably be different). He should have his number retired by the Yanks (even if they do seem to retire too many). :P

    Very respectable player.

  • Paul O'neill is like four hundred Gorillas rolling down a hill on their backside sipping Jim Beam

  • @kennyscotten lol

  • @kennyscotten :)) nice. made my day.

  • @wafflezkid you got it :)

  • Paul may not have had the best numbers but he should be in the Hall of Fame because he was such a great guy and inspiration. Kind of like Dale Murphy.

  • he shouldnt even be in the Yankees hall of fame. And they have Don Mattingly, Roger Maris, Bernie WIlliams, and Ron Guidry who will never be in the baseball hall of fame.

  • RETIRE PAULIE'S #21!!!!!

  • yankees will retire anything, hell they retired 8 three times. bet by 2100 there wont be any numbers left

  • @TonyPizzaro I'm sure there will be plenty in Boston, or wherever you're from

  • Paullie in the playoffs (85 games): .284 batting average, 11 homers and 39 RBIs with an .828 OPS.

    How are those bad numbers?

  • I agree. Plus they're right on par with his career numbers. So basically, if anything, his playoff numbers prove he was extremely consistent.

The nimrod below has no idea what he's talking about. O'Neil was a a good (not great) player was played a big role in the Yanks winning those championships.

  • butthurt Dodgers fan

how's that first round exit treating you this offseason?

  • Paul O'neill could not Hit in the Playoffs when it counted. Why do you think he retired after the 2001 season when he could still play and still young. Cause they told him and Tino Martinez, Chuck Kno. & Scott Brosious they were gone after the 2001 world series. Paul Retired instead of playing for another team. Cause he knew that he was nothing without the Yankees. If he went to another team he would just be another regular player. Check out his Playoffs stats, he could not hit.

  • Okay genius, so what you are saying is that he was on 5 championship teams by coincidence- Reds and Yanks? He played no part in any of those victories?

Wow, I think all the GM's in the MLB should get your name and #, fire the entire scouting staff and hire you and only you for future success. Man you are really great, sorry, GENIUS!!!!
