Thanks for the kind words jdubs1963. I agree with you that Hunter is one of the worst things ever foisted on teachers by those who have never taught. Form becomes more important than function. As well, it does not distinguish between a concept lesson plan, skills lesson plan, reading lesson plan, or writing lesson plan.
Really you obviously are not a very effective teacher. Hunter is the core of good teaching it isn't cookie- cutter. You are wrong do not listen to this goof ball!
I have found in my years of teaching that you do some things for the bean counters -- but then you get down to the business of teaching and learning for your students.
Thanks for the input here KCAASE. Yes, many schools require the Danielson format. That does not make it right or it does not mean that it is the most effective. I am hoping that we can be agents of change. This top-down approach to teaching keeps us from being our best.
What Dr. Andrew Johnson does not tell is that many school districts actually have adopted the Madeline's instruction design and require their teachers to follow it "religiously". Teachers must use the prescribed steps of the Madline's "effective lesson design" to deliver a "content". Principals will evaluate individual teachers based on how well-versed teachers are on Madeline's lesson design. So if the teachers love teaching and having jobs, then they have just to follow the principals.
