Yes we should! But it costs money to build these systems and so far there is little investment money available. Methane from septic tanks could be captured but it is generally not economical - not profitable and that is what counts - making a profit is what is necessary to get investment to build
Co-generation seems the most likely immediate use. The gas could be stored on site (farm) and then burned in a gas turbine during peak electrical demand hours. The farmer is now also a electricity provider. Cogen rocks.
Biogas must be "cleaned" in order to be injected into the natural gas pipeline. This means removing impurities such as hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide. This can be done, but it is often more cost effective to use the gas in other ways.
Thanks for all the detailed information in making this happen!! Why are we fighting wars when we have BIO-GAS!!! This is serious!! How do we put pressure on our elected officials? We need to get together and make a petition or something!?
