@holyroller It's funny, season 5 is still very good in comparison to other sitcoms... but it collects dust on my dvd shelf whereas seasons 1-4 are going to break soon from too many repeated viewings. Hartman was absolutely brilliant on NewsRadio!!!! Oh yeah, and Lisa getting married to Puddy put the final nail in the NewsRadio coffin.
@MalnourishedGoat The thing is that some of the Season 5 episodes were written amazingly but there was just something missing. Phil's death left them without an antagonist for Dave. No disrespect to Lovitz because no one would have done well in that situation but his character was a bit of a dud and left very little impact in comparison to Phil Hartman's Bill McNeal
@BlobOnASideWalk Right, Bill McNeal often (purposely) annoyed the other characters yet was NOT annoying to the viewer. Lovitz annoyed both. I remember long before the age of the DVD, back when I was a freshman in high school, I would watch Newsradio in syndication every night at some obscene hour on UPN... and if they showed a Lovitz episode, boy would I be pissed. He played his part well and even elicited some laughs from me, it was just an awful part.
This show is the best.
