  • Where can I get the full version by Muzeyyen Senar, this is my favourite :)))

  • @burcu1983 Im sorry to say, are u sure u know what u sayin? Where did u read about thoose absurdity?

There is no etnic difference in turkey as wrote below.. Just read, Turkmens and Turkey Turks are same orgin, root or history what ever u understand. At the same idea for Kurds people..

We cant talk about mixture about Turkey, because of Turkish people which is Turks has come here before Manzikert.

  • Yes maybe true that u say 'transit land' so every transit passenger civilisation may exposed to Cultural Interaction radher than exposing. Please read definition about expression of 'etnic' u clearly got ur wrong..

Also, is there any one who one to circumstantiate this word 'this song is greek melody'

  • Hey greek friend, arent u exhause this sophism. Baklava is Turkish desert, inspired arabian desert.. Kebap is known whole front asia. Okay; plato, zevs, xena vs also the man who wear skirt. U may belong it all.. Sorry thats grim realty. Hey, we should give up all. We read plato, u eat baklava, listen this song. Our culture nearly same..

  • Greek Culture and Music are affected from Turkish and Middle Eastern culture and other cultures..(For example;Egypt,Lebanon etc.) so greek music is mixtured like turkish music.so there are these oriental timbres in greek music...anyway we are brothers dont forget it

  • simdi yunanistana euro yolla. aman aman sagdan, soldan.

  • Is there a Turkish video on YT that says: "We inherited this music from the Byzantine Empire !!"

I am not tryinng to start an argument, I simply want to congratulate them. and give them some stars.

  • @leonis53 ottoman turks are a mixture of turkish and local peoples, greeks, armenians, assyrians, jews, arabs, kurds, gypsies and slavs! their culture is based on all of ours because of the converts to islam, the women they held us slaves and the chldren they abducted! ottoman culture is nothing more than byzantine, balkan and eastern medeterranian combined with islamic elements! If there is such a thing, that finally admits it I would like to see it...

  • Briliant anthem of a undying song........cok guzel .. giassou roemeike...

  • Muzeyyen Senar and Zeki Muren are two artists that should be known worldwide. Romeikos thank you for your great uploads. Since I am a a fourth generation refugee from Asia Minor, it is very important for me to know, to learn and to love the music of my roots.

  • bu şarkı asıl hamiyet yüceses'ten dinlenir :)

  • Hey romeikos! What's the name of Greek lady who sings the second version? (before roza eskenazi)

  • @rockermerthsm

I am not sure. The actual old 78 RPM belongs to a professor at UC Berkeley and he surmises the singer is Kior Katina (Kor Katina) "Blind Katina" a famous singer who was active from the late 19th century. There is no identification of singer or musicians on the disc itself.

  • @romeikos2

I friend and record collector in Greece recently identified the singer of the second version as Kyra Pipina not Kior Katina. Thanks S. K..

  • @rockermerthsm

She`s name is Muzeyyen Senar and she is from Istanbul.

  • @rockermerthsm she is voula palla :)

  • if they wasnt the greek pholosophers to say that god has nothing to do with the nature and humans today all the world had to leave in caves like slaves ans monkeys,,

  • Müzeyyen Senar

    Hastasıyım.

Bu kadar içli bu kadar duygu dolu söylenir mi be kardeşim

  • ancient greeks create the library of alexandria and antioxeia with many millions of books were the the people could go and educade themselfs,,

    people like you for example...

  • we know what ancient greek did, quesrtion is what you the turkish left over gypssys orthodox did. and how long more you will call you self greek, when you are mix turks, vlahs, bulgarians ethiopians, and albanians

  • there is not ancient and modern greeks but only greeks..

turkish rule in balkans is over 100 years ago,,

turkish went back to the asia where they belong and the story is finished there,,,

as for the vlahs, voulgarians, arvanites they used to live alongside with the greeks for centurys in the region of the balkans,,

i cant see your poind albanian,,

  • in your poor ethiopian/konine dreams no ancient greeks you are the greeks, can you tell me since when ancient greeks lookt like nigros with a dark skin.since when ancient greeks accept orthodoxisam, greeks never ever worship orthodoxisam, but was a baptisam.

you are turkish/russian/ethiopian orthodoxs, where you come in balkan 1800s

  • @chameria

You are running from site to site calling names and slandering Greeks, why are you doing this ? What if we are like you say ,Turks,Vlach, Albanians Ethiopians ?

    What is your problem ?

Stop spending your time with Greece,we are what we are ,,and know what we are ! Try to spend your time with Albania,, it needs help , and you are not helping by creating hate between Albanians and Greeks .

  • do you know what is the theatre?the thetre is the place who someone can express his filosofical views in fron of the people without the logokrisia to express himself however hi likes!

logokrisia is the a kind of theocratic view of on true -a dogma of true were oposite opinion is banned!

  • if you go in militos in asia minor nowdays you can see with your eyes the theatre still survived threre 2500 before holuwood learn your peoplle to see dramatic movies ,comedies, and tragodys,,,

    thats all about

  • romeikos2

    thak you

  • There is a modern Greek version of this song by Savina Yannatou which is called "Ta Matakia Sou Ta Mavra" recorded in 1997 on the album "Melodies tis Anatolis" - I can't find this anywhere on mp3 or the CD - do you Romeikos or anyone else have this? Thanks :)

  • Birakin Siyaseti Müzige bakin yorumu dinleyin

sarkinin yorumunu yapin siyaseti baska yerlerde yapililir

  • we are all greeks in exile

  • @6510686 then come back. I invite you all....

  • i can say huntreds of greeks philosophers but not one from egupt or hitite or summerian or armenian or roman at least untill they come in touch with the greeks...

  • not all!some of them went abroad to see another civilazions with the same way nowdays scientists meet and and excange ideas,,whats the wrong with this?

  • there's nothing wrong with this. this is how science works. this means that intellectual diffusions occured during ancient times. but as you can see the -5 point of my comment people are not happy with it. they want to think that greek philosophy emerged only with greek ideas....

  • you know the freedom of the greek states and the democratic rule gave to the greeks more freedom to express themselfs since the the ideal for a greek state and their people it was the search for the true!

in the other hand people living out of the greeks states in despotic jokes they lack the opuurtunity to expres themselfs and talk for intividual consiense since the the monolithic sosietys they used to leave engouragent the faraonic theology of the mazes and not the philosophy..

  • all of those greek states were slave societies. women, slaves and non-citizens didn't have any rights. and many philosophers were slave owners themselves. I recommned you not to idealize greek states.

  • i am talking for the male greeks,,they had the rigth to talk for eurithing in the palestra,in akademy,in the market,in the theatre,,

finding the true means philosophy in greek!

in the other hand in asiatic sosietys it didnt engourage this kind of activitys,,of the male population,,

the true and the philoshophers its was only from the ypper soiety and the cast of the prists,,

i am not idealized nothing-i dont give a fuck..

how tourkish you are to talk and think like that?

  • bravo classical orientalism came in the end. greece, as european and western, is free democratic and east, or asiatic is despotic and unfree. so you as a greek know what democracy is, and I as a Turk and Asian don't know it. aaaah such waste of time for me. better construct your ideas...

  • asiatic sosietys created the very first civilazations but they never expierenced freedom since all their people were slaves of their king,,

in the other hand in the greek democracy the peole were slaves of the low of the state,,,

(the low it was their king!the low who created all together)

philosophy is a plant who grows in the freedom!

you cant talk for philosofy in the faraonic egypt!!!!you can talk for theology

  • what are the asiatic societies ? what makes them common to unite in a single group. this is my first question. second one is, many of those ancient greek city states was ruled by oligarchies. and laws was set by them, by the most powerful part of popultaions. thirdly many middle eastern empires were ruled by oligarchies also, but they had an emperor. rules, laws set togethet by priests, landlords and emperor. so you take athens as a model, it is obvious but athens also ruled by an oligarchy.

  • you are so negative for eurithing about greece..

its not eurithig good about greece but their democrasy is still inspire all the humanity as the best way to live,,

    fuck the kings,faraos,sultans and despots,,

the ideal is the democracy and the write to the people to exxpress their views(filosofia)

  • I'm not negative about greece. but I'm not also exagerating it. before ancient greece there was philosophy and science. what ancient greeks did was to bring good concepts and new methods. in terms of democracy, I don't believe in it. democracy is just a lie from the beginning.

  • well christian nuns also looking as ghost as Muslim women in burkas. if you try to insult Muslims for women rights just know this fact. turkey is one of the earliest modern nation who let women vote. it was in 1933 before France, Switzerland, Greece or many more European christian nations. learn some history. and in the case of Sparta you cannot speak of democracy it should be funny and ignorant. Sparta was like a military dictatorship...

  • for example all the turist come to asia, minor to see greek ruins and ancient citys,,,

anyway greek is what we call the land that monkeys become humans..

greece is the country that the revolution of the human spirit took place and made the human responsible for his destiny,,,

untill that time human believed that god rule the world with the same way nowdays fanatic talimpan and fanatic cristians still believe,,

are you one of these people praoud hitite?

  • why fanatic greek call mongolian to us??I vil able to call them dickheat ,this is byzantium /ottoman cultur, mix with greek, turk, armenian, georgian, and meny other.Roza eskenazi was last ottoman voice, she was jew..etnicity not importand, this is a reality to live in this geographia..nana mouskouri, haris alexsiou, maria farantouri word class voice they are greeek.

  • so you have pain in your face? becasue ı said the reals..greks are the worst of western countrişes now..poorer than them and exc..no science ..

  • we are the worst becouse we didnt kill 2 milion armenians in one month

  • come on guy.even armenians doent say that turks killed 2 million armenian:) so yuo only lying becasue you dont know anything...we didnt kill them we made them imigrant becasue of killing turkish villagers..youı donty know anythging but you talk.a typical gayrek..

  • Leave us alone with these bullshit of nationalism from each part of Aegean! It quite interest. to find the roots of the Greek and Turkish music of Anatolia. I think that a large part of the modern music of Greece and Turkey have common roots. I searched a lot and I found that the Byzant. ritual music has the same modes as the Turkish, Persian and Arabic. I'm wondering what part of each comes from ancient modes, as Lydian, Dorian and Frygian, that ancient Greeks sung their songs.Really good job!

  • If that was the case, the people of Kazasthan would sing this songs!

But this is not the case!

  • jimmythegreek, if that was the case, the people of ancient greece would sing this song!

But this is not the case!

anatolia was/is the homeland of so many civilisations (sumerians, hitities, assyrians, armenians, persians, greeks, romans, arabs, seljuks, ottomans etc.)...

    go and educate yourself...

  • Well .... This song was not written in Ancient Greek time.. it is rather new !

  • you didnt unterstand what i wanted to say...

turkey-turks never denied that they are a mixture of over 40 different etnic groups in turkey (georgians, turkmens, azaris, albanians, serbians, kurds, arabs, persians etc.)...

turkey`s culture is a mixture of so many cultures...

    anatolia was/is the transit land...

but you greeks only show your stupidy when you say "turkey`s culture is 100% greek"; what a huge inferior complex...

  • We do not have an Inferiority complex, in fact we are very proud of what we have dane :)

Long before the Georgians, Turkmens, Azaris, Albanians, Serbians, Kurds, Arabs and Persians, came the GREEKS !

And anything worth visiting in Turkey is GREEK !

  • Long before the greeks, came the SUMERIANS, HITITIES, ASSYRIANS and ARMENIANS!

first civilization in anatolia was built for 10.000 years in catalhöyük...

And anything worth visiting in Turkey is SUMERIAN, HITITIC, ASSYRIAN, ROMAN, GREEK,ARMENIAN, PERSIAN, OTTOMAN, SELJUK :-)

  • @burcu1983

    turkish culture is grecoroman culture..

you dint take your style for your moscues from the azeris or albanians or whatever ,but from the greeks..

you did not take your "turkis baths" from the turkmens or serbians or georgians but from the greeks

    and so on ,so on,,

  • @saltadoros08 you dint take vuzantine music ,culture, and konstantinopolis, smurni, trapezounta from the makedonias ,or albanians but from the greeks...

All the europe toon their civilazation fom the greeks nad the turks took it from the azzeris and the albanians and bulgarians,,

fuck you man ------all the museums of europe is full of greek art-no turkish, armenian kurd.german, english ,france,,,xaxaxaxxax

  • @burcu1983 You're mixture of 40 different ethnic groups. So you have over 40 fathers. Our culture is Altaic, ethnic Turks are of East-Central Asian stock excluding you and the ones like you. You're a leftist bitch, it is natural that your genomic structure was formed from many different nations/ethnic groups raping your mother.

  • the only civilazation in the middle east is from greeks and aiguptians,,,

noboty talk about persian civilazation or hitites civilazation))

    or even roman))

  • You are funny man :), there are more Turks living in Istanbul than the whole Greek population in the world :).

  • yeah right my friend. "anatolia is greek" in ur dreams...

  • bi tane baristan bahseden yunanli yazisi gormedim surda. adamlarin hala kuyruk acisi var. anadolunun yunanli oldugunu iddia ediyolar. birakin debelensinler. biz keyfimize bakalim. enjoy the music:))

  • Romeikos, thank you very much for uploading these videos. The research you have put into these is impeccable, far exceeding a lot of YouTube videos.

I hear on the grapevine that there is a Cypriot version of this song - do you happen to have a copy to upload.

    Thanks again

  • I do have a Cypriot version of Katifes on a cassette produced by the singer/violinist called Ta Merakia tou Pieretti. Send me your email address to my inbox messages and I will send you a copy

  • By that time the city also took its name Áγκυρα-Ànkyra (meaning Anchor in Greek) which is still used by the Turks with the slightly modified form of Ankara.

  • And your point is?

every city in turkey has ancient names. ancyra as greeks call it, was there long before greeks came into anatolia. It was created ancyra by the galatian gauls. The only people who arent associated in anatolia, we associate with them.

The gauls were a germanic tribe who entered galatia via thrace, and their language is the same as that of the trier germans.

  • Hello!

Does anyone know when and where Roza Eskenazi's Katifes featuring here was recorded?

  • Recorded in the (early?) 1930s in Athens on a 10" 78 RPM. Polydor 51080/1. The other side of the disc is an amanes: Rast Gazel

  • i am sorry i've even stopped here long enough to read

    a few of these entries..

this much anger, this much venom.......how do you ppl eat and

    sleep?

  • the problem is that they dont.

  • @gyreenedoc It's not hard when over 3000 years of greek anatolian culture was wiped out in les than 80 years and today numbers less than a 1000 people when in the 20's it made up half of Constantinople... and all of that after 500 years of slavery, religious suppresion, stolen women and children, bad living conditions and the destruction or and conversion of some of our holliest sites from a people that originate and migrated from the far east! Lets not forget the christian genocide and cyprus!

  • @kingsammythecat There was no suppression and slavery in the Ottoman Empire. And the only "Christian" genocide there was committed was done by the Holy Roman Empire during the first crusade against their own Greek Orthodox brothers. You keep calling the Turks barbarians, but keep forgetting what deeds your fellow Christians did. Never ever have I seen a Greek critisize this, while it's a well known fact.

  • @LaZZaNoVa

    You are correct !!!

If the Crusaders had never shown up at Constantinople (Istanbul) and weakened the Byzantine Empire, the Ottamans would have been kocked back into Asia, and we wouldn't be having you around making more terittorial grabs and claims e.g., Cyprus, Aegean Gray Zones, EEZ disputes, etc. etc.

  • @leonis53 Mate the territorial grabs and claims, as you so call it, are a different matter. The Crusaders didn't weaken the Byzantine Empire, it rather strengthened the Seljuk Turks and the muslims in the Middle East. If the Crusaders didn't do those barbaric acts, the Seljuk Turks wouldn't have had the need to unite themselves. Action = - reaction. And bare in mind, those Crusaders were also the enemy of Orthodox Christians. They were murderers. Blame the Roman Church for your losses.

  • even your name of your capital is a greek name ...

you are a fucking mixed people with greeks who become muslims!

half of you are muslims greeks!

  • so what? every tenth person in the world has a mongolian blood.

  • Be civilized.

Turkey probably carries more cultural heritage of anatolia than greece does.

What if we turks are mixed? So what? Our forefathers came here to this country and our language and culture and way of living still stands. Thats what maters.

  • its a gallic name. Ankyra or Anker is an ancient germanic name for "bastion" or "capital", which was ancyra for the galatian gauls.

    get your history right.

  • We never threw away our heritage. We said we are anatolian.

But you assholes from greece think that even youare 100% greek. DNA tests show that you are only 20% greek! Exactly the same ammount that of anatolian turks!!

There is no greeks anymore, they are extinct. There is only the anatolian who is 50% european, 20% greek, 20% middle eastern and 10% east asian.

  • if im mongolian youre mongolian.

  • I am really happy to listen these musics. I am a turkish guy but I really love greek people. PEACE...

  • konstantinople is greek my friends turkish!

its a stolen polis from greece like all anatolia!

you need to trust your army becouse only him and america protect you from blootthirsty greeks!

  • No need to break peace in here my friend. Eat some cacik and you'll see that we have lived together for hundreds of years.

Turkish&Greek Friendship forever. No way for racists.

  • racists are the turkish army who kill inocent in kurdistan and cuprus

  • Get a life dude, get a l-i-f-e

  • Noı-one gives a shit to what you are talking here.If you wanna discuss something about that, comment under a video about war.

  • we dont kill people in east turkey. There are 50.000 terrorists who kill children, set fire onto buildings, murder the elderly, rape women and bomb houses and roads each and every day.

Cyprus is turkish. learn to live with it. genetic research shows turkish cyprots to be of the same genetic make up as greeks from present day greece. That is prove that greeks in greece are turks.

  • On one day we will take whole world he he Long life for my nation turks

  • anatolia is greek..

  • Comment removed

  • Why don't you enjoy the music Instead of dreaming of Istanbul & anatolia. Past is past.

  • anatolia has been greek, persian, macedonian, roman, and now turkish. Last man who enters and stays, gets the honour.

  • bi rakı ver yavrımmmmm

  • Peace for Ellada i Tourkia

    Irini for Greece & Turkey

Mir za Grcija i za Turcija...

    Baris Turkiya ve Hellas itsin...

  • euxapıoto :)Thanks

  • I hate when people mix music and history. Guys just listen to nice music - leave the war to historians.

  • oha, bravo yasasin türk milleti

  • Greek and Turkish musicians are amazing!

  • the old wars are over. just listen to the song!

  • fidokalman, go get a few lectures on history before writing BS here. Ottoman Empire ruled half of what you fucken cock-suckers call Europe these days FOR CENTURIES. So-called "Armenian fucken genocide".. again... Fucken disciples of THE LIE. They define their nationality by defiying ours. It's so fucken good to know that our very existence gave you fucken losers a way to justify yours. Come back when you have real arguements you fucken loser.

  • You thin you are free of brain washing but it is very obvious that you are defending without questioning your dogmas because you have sent me to Asia just because I told you a different point of view and there will be many to agree with some parts of my arguments at least. The West does not know the realities of Armenian issue, how they terrorized muslims when the Army was fighting for existing against strong russians. The killing of Greek Patriarch is a right punishment even under todays law...

  • As you realized, people who are sensitive to make this kind music will be kind in their real life too. And in fact they were. Contrary to what you know, the people in anatolia and europe wellcomed the law and governance of Ottomans. And they were given freedom. For example Fatih the conqueror established the Armenian patriarchy in Istanbul. Many examples can be given. But colonizers of the industrial century used minorities to weaken Ottoman. And the clash started, unfortunately..

  • amen to that. anatolia to the greeks and armenians!!

  • its not like this my dear friend!u should always hear the other side too.this friendly approach of the turks took some millions of jenissaries from the balkan populations into today;s turkey.and what the ottoman's gave was forst for their own good.dont tell me that all the rebellions, fights and wars against the ottomans and turks later were just for fun!

  • i love all turkish greek mix songs___i love these cultures___
