You than get rid of medicare and social security with this. Also you replace welfare and medicaid with job insurance. Reagan dropped unemployment rates to only 5.5% and he dropped inflation from the 13.5% of Carters adminstration to between 4%-6%... The economy under Reagan was pretty damned good... the country was in debt, but it is always in debt...

there are very few times that the budget was balanced... the most recent time was during Clinton's administration... the thing about that is that people accredit balancing the budget to Clinton, but it's Congress that sets up the budget... congress was run by republicans and clinton just put his name on it... and we couple that with the fact that now bush has put the country into one of its most substantial debts yet... reagan did a fantastic job as president

Which were: (1) national defense, (2) preservation of peace between states (civil wars, riots), (3) regulation of trade between states and with other nations, and (4) international relations. (note 'national defense' was listed as #1 - - thereby being the priority). The military is the reason you have the freedoms you have today.

He lowered taxes, beefed up the military, reduced inflation, freed hostages, ended the cold war, signed treaties that reduced nuclear arms. How is he a subpar president? Carter allowed the Iranian hostage crisis to take place for 444 days... you know how long reagan was in office before he resolved it? minutes... not days minutes... Reagan relieved the country of an ongoing hostage crisis in the amount of time that it would take carter to figure out his left from his right...

There really weren't many "good" questions. Most of the questions asked begged for the answers they received. Any politician will say what they think you want to hear (yes, especially a Clinton). If you really want to know, you must put the work in and actually look at their record. Unfortunately, most of their records are inconsistant and disappointing.

What the hell are you talking about? Social Security and Medicare are all safe as houses; Congress will just increase taxes later to cover up any shortfall. If you're the average person, if the government didn't tax that money from you, you'd just save less than 1% and spend the rest on consumer goods, then have no equity when you retire. So just be happy that you have something to look forward to, eh? My generation will have to pay for it anyway.
