damn. i never heard of this guy jim kyte before but i watched some other vids including this one. he def fought the toughest fighters and could def take a punch. he lost a few fights but for the most part won some pretty good fights against some the best...
Jim Kye suffered a few bad beatings in his career (Joey Kocur, Mike Peluso, Dave Brown, Rob Ray), but he is actually one of the toughest fighters of the 1980s. Unfortunately, his bad losses get all the attention. Kyte actually pummeled Brown and Kocur in other fights.
As for this 94-95 fight with Grimson, I think Kyte got the edge in this one. That opening salvo of punches he hit Stu with was punishing.
I remember a hockey magazine in the 80s ranking the fighters and they actually had Kyte #1 in the league. Apparently his first year or two with Winnepeg, he had some impressive victories. I think he was one of those guys who could fight but lacked a mean streak. He pummelled Kocur? And Brown? I'll have to search for those on youtube.
Kyte early, Grimson late=DRAW.
Great battle really.
Many good/great shots landed by both, some punches landed shortly to the mark.
Good punching mostly, some grappling middle/late of the fight.

Poor Jim Kyte. The biggest punching bag in the history of the NHL. Getting his clock cleaned at Joe Louis Arena again.
