  • onpas perkele loistavaa musiikkia =)

  • the first march is that of the cheshire regiment. this is a great compilation. brings back many happy memories of my old army days and pals.

  • Isn't the first march the quick march of the Mercian regt? Funny how an English regt. adopted a Scottish tune. ;D

  • Would somebody please describe the flag w/ gold lion rampant, cross, and blue background with the motto "nemo me impune lacessit" , where it comes from and what it represents? I am unable to find a replica other than here, and I would like to copy it to paper, but unable to when it is part of a video. thank you. Loyal American w/multiple Scots/irish roots. thanks for any help.

  • @nhgranite1 Its the emblem of the Ancient Order of the Thistle, which is used by several of the regiments shown at the end of the film. The Order dates back hundreds of years... The emblem may be found possibly under the Royal Regiment of Scotland, or the Argyll and Sutherland highlanders web sites.. The paintings featured show amongst others - the Thin Red Line at Balaclava, and the cavalry charge of the Scots Greys at Waterloo as well as more modern scenes..

  • @stramash100 thanks very much for this info-from what I can find, our roots go back to the "auld sod" and relations seem to bounce from Ireland to Scotland to England or vice versa. Am trying though backtracking census and other sources to find great great grandparents which supplied bodies for civil war after immigration. thanks again for the heads up;always wondered why the pipes stirred me deep. I will use this info to search further.

  • We love the Scots and ..... Scotch!

  • My favorite march! :)

  • would have been a great spectacle to see troops in their red coats and kilts marching towards the enemy with black bear playing

  • The real Highland Brigades in my opinion are the ones that have been around for hundreds of years IE- The Black Watch etc.

  • @Carcer666 the highland laddie is in there :P good enough

  • @Huithapeli great video mate :) really loved it

  • since when did Australia have a Scottish regiment (they appear at 2:00)

  • Australia does not have a Scottish regiment.

  • Actually after doing research I've found out Australia did and still does have Highland regiments for example the 16th Battalion, Royal Western Australia Regiment are the Cameron Highlanders. There's also the 5th/6th Battalion Royal Victoria Regiment, 10th/27th Battalion Royal South Australia Regiment and the 41st Battalion Royal New South Wales Regiment (these are the current regiments others have been disbanded)

  • @irishgodfatherchris

Those regiments are only affiliated with scottish units in scotland, they are not actually scottish regiments.

  • @kingdomofdalriada you knew what I meant though

  • Tank you for ending a wonderful medley with The Black Bear

  • @ dazze17 The same back from the Scottish side of things.

  • My children were so inspired by this, they ask - can this be played at my funeral??

??? I hope not for along time, but I would be over the moon if it was!!

  • @JudoChef - yes Im from the Canadain Argylls and I was at a funreal the other day for a retired Argyll and he requested this. It can be done.

  • Excellent compilation!!

This brought a tear to my eye. You have my thanks.

    God bless you Sweden.

    Liam.

  • @JudoChef Sorry, but I'm from Finland.

    BTW, I'm a judoka too. :)

  • Thanks for compiling an interesting video.

And admiration to all Jocks for your great traditions, pride in regiment, and fighting spirit over the centuries.

My understanding is that the Jocks were feared as aggressive fighters. And that's not just on Saucciehall Street on a Saturday night! (Sorry for any spelling mistakes.)

  • Historical differences aside, I am proud to class the Scottish as my brothers. A proud nation.

  • @dazze17 And same to the English. Rule Brittania!
