A return to the origins of the so-called "Classical" music? This sort of things were quite common back in 1800, there are references of classical composers acting in similar ways. I think this gives an injection of life to the overall classical concert scene.

very reminiscient of Keith Jarrett with the pedal bass on V and variations on a theme with major/bluesy harmonies ... I do wish she would get a little more 'out there', or rather, 'stay out there' in the playing ... she has a lot of nice outside lines but they always resolve so quickly to major/traditional harmony.

There will always be some people trying to reduce this to pure technical skills. Of course, she takes some notes of the piece to play with it, what else could she do? And of course, you can describe this in terms of harmonical patterns and so on. But those who try to do so and then come to the conclusion that after all this is "not that difficult" don't have any idea of what the whole thing is actually about. Even the mere question how "difficult" or not this might be is simply childish.

Meine Güte, sie macht halt ihre Improvisationen mit und unmittelbar für das Publikum, das sie mit einbezieht. Dabei geht es vor allem um die gemeinsame Freude an der Musik - dass das Publikum erst für sie singt, und sie dann für das Publikum spielt.

I don't know what you talk about. this thing she does isn't something special. since 100 years jazzmusiciens do nothing other than she does, but they do a real improvisation. every third class jazz pianist is able to do this in a better way. she only takes a small peace of the song and changes the song rhythm. she uses jazz voices, which is great, but she has no feeling and no groove to do this in a good way, like a jazz improvisation. there is no question, that she's a great piano player.

It's not easy to make a free improvisation - related to a theme coming from the audience. Her "mer lasse dae Dom in Koelle"-ragtime had some really nice moments. Okay: It's not her best piece. It's okay and it's fun.

Stan Getz? He is a great musician but he always sound like Stan Getz. Additionally his improvisations are *monophone*. There is no way to compare them.

Her improvisations are rough, original and new. Some of them are very inspired e.g. her improvisation of "god save the queen".
