  • "Imma go ahead and what imma do is go ahead and go ahead n add this...go ahead"

  • @SpiffaJ Thanks for taking the time out of your day to not only watch my tutorial but to also comment on it. I appreciate it!

  • when I load a rock drum kit is it possible to change the velocities / levels/ lengths of the drum sounds of each little orange square that are manually drawn into the sequencer ? Like if I want a rock drum build to lead into the next part of the song I will draw it in but I want the sounds to get louder and louder.

  • Epic tutorial

  • appreciae the tutorial man, i see the benefits from using separate redrums for individual drums, thank you

  • hey man i have a mpd16 that i want to use with reason how do i use it on a mac

  • @mrhandsonman you should be able to set it up just like any other midi controller. Did you install the driver for the mpd16?

  • Thanks for the awesome tutorial. The roll technique is awesome with snare and hi hats. I'm having some other newbie issues though. I've had a MIDI controller ever since i've had reason. I've never used the pattern editor because I've always played the beats. I don't understand how to record certain patterns for different parts of my song. Anny suggestions? Thanks

  • @bytepushersmusic I usually start a new loop next to my old one. After I'm finished recording I can go back and arrange the loops.

  • thank you so fucking much man..i learn mad shit..iv been messing with this thing forever..my boy try to teach me..but his crazy at making beats but he uses it way different then you..his way older then me..but now you showed me how to use the keyboard i got with it..im already making crazy shit..thanks so much :D

  • there's something I don't understand. i got all the redrum things set, how can I record it into the sequenzer? do you have to have a keyboard for that?

  • @pabylon you have to right click on the redrum and choose "copy pattern to track."

  • @trackattik why does the drums sound different when I copy the pattern to track? Its like the sounds of the drums reset to its default sound.

  • @dandaman43 What do you mean by default sound?

  • @trackattik What I mean is that the drum sample's sound is reset to its original settings. The pattern is copied but my adjustments made to the samples isn't. Hope that makes sense..lmk thanks!

  • hahah

  • NICE!

  • all those redrums you used can you combine themto each otha and put dem on da pattern thing

  • i tried that snare roll i could not get it to sound like yours how did u get it to fall with the beat

  • is there any way to make triplets within a binary beat???or like doble stroke rolls, like more humanish "i can do whatever i want" kinda things?? instead of just plain binary beats???

  • @stainwalk you could play them by hand

  • @trackattik yea but like.. lets say i have a 8th note beat, n then for a segment i wanna do like 32th notes on the hi hat, or triplets or something... it cant be done very user friendly, can it?

  • @stainwalk you can have two different redrums with the same sound. One on 8th note and the other on 32th. You can switch back in forth in the sequencer screen. OR you can make another pattern in the same redrum and turn the resolution knob. After you do that you can automate to switch back and forth between patterns. Let me know if this helped at all.

  • @stainwalk ill try it, but i think it gonna work, so thanx

  • what is zero octive (or watever You said) and how do you set it on that please help me because i have an m-audio oxygen 8 and evertime i try to play a note on redrum it just highlights the "M" button's

  • @xB3Lk to the left of your 3 digit led screen there is a button labeled "transpose" press the button until your led screen says 0. If your redrum still doesn't work try all of them -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3,. Keep pressing the "C" key until you hear a sound.

  • hey bud, where's a good place to get 808 samples..Amongst other reason samples?

  • crap... hmmm where would i find my tools option? I looking for the tools option but i cant see it on my setup...

  • @trackattik thanks!!!=D I got it,now I can put them out through Redrum =D

  • in the sequencer you can place the snare before the hook. You can only do that if you have you are using the note lane feature or if you have your snare separated from the rest of your drums.

  • Hey i got a question. How do you put a snare roll into the track in just a certain section and not at the end of every bar. Like have a snare roll right before the hook kicks in or when beats are getting brought in.

  • Where did you get that 808?

  • @musicmenace78 I search all over the internet for my sounds I dont really have a specific place. I will probably post a video and have my contact info so that the people who really want the sounds can get them.

  • Nice vid!Het can you help me out? I have like 1.5G of mpc drum sounds. How do I plug them inton Reason(They are not vst plugins) Now only kits I have are those Factory sounds..Someone??

  • @MrNelsonmania Im not sure exactly what you are talking about....I think that the factory sounds are.....SND files. check to see if there WAVS or SNDS. If they are WAVS then you should be able to just select them from the REDRUM,NN19,NNxt.

  • @trackattik: Yo thanx for the tips! Yo I am extremly new to reason. Just figuin it out rite now...

maybe you said this already and I misunderstood, but how do you set up redrum to record automatically? What I mean is you did that beat manually.. With a midi keyboard. Can I record the beat just by plugging in the pattern on the drum machine?

  • Some nice tips Man Thanks I am pretty new to this

  • Nice Snare roll method!!! Thanks!!!!

  • Quantize... [kwon-tahyz]

  • whats the start knob do ? send me a message man ! good looks on the vid

  • go can a tutorial just tell me how to make different beats back to back.. its doing my nut in mecause I can only seem to have 1 pattern ALL THE WAY THRU... its doing my nut in and isnt very convenient.. also, am i the only 1 who has this problem

  • tap the beat out on your midi controller instead of making patterns

  • yeh, that works nicely, cheers man =]

  • @Fulmarmusic make a pattern on A1 then A2 then A3 ok when you are done right click on redrum and click "copy pattern to track" . then set your r and L locaters on the next bar or however long your loop is and right click and choose "copy pattern to track:

  • @mynus303 then cick down below on the "new dub" button, it creates a new note lane, click pattern A2 and right click and click "copy pattern to track" now you should have a bar of pattern A1 and after that a bar of pattern A2 keep doing that as maany times as you want or as many dif drum patterns as you want

  • Isn't there some way to use automation to control the pitch?

Instead of using 4 different redrums, could you use one and turn the pitch knob -kind of like using the q-slider on a mpc?

I don't know how to use automation in Reason, but this kinda seems like the long way.

Great tutorial, though! You explain it perfectly.

  • Yes!!! Put automation on the Pitch knob.

  • Yeah, I've done this several times with automation on the pitch now. I forgot to come back and comment.

  • why do you need to click "initializing patch"?

  • It clears the current kit so you can make your own.

  • nice demo.

why not use nn-19, or nn-xt for this instead?

  • where is that mastering thing at yo...plz help

  • In the toolbar, go to create>MClass Mastering Suite Combi.

  • wats a canbo , the last drum

  • best tutorial I've found for redrum yet

  • sick video.. helped alot.

where did you get those drum patches?

  • nice videos

  • thanks.....this is the first of many more to come
