@ciccarello It is rather common although maybe not in this exact form. Every school has a school festival (open to the public) and it is usually the biggest event of the year. The evening before the festival, after they have worked all day to transform the school into festival mode, they unwind with events like this (cross dressing is common) along with skits including teachers (on occasion) and other skits and rock bands/dancers. This is not open to the public so they are more uninhibited.

The "runway" is really a series of platforms that they use for the chorus concerts. They have about 300 people in each grade and during the school festival, all the seniors sing together on the platforms so they have to have a lot of them.
