  • Que fuerte, Michael Jackson es un FARSANTE!

  • Mj added more to the dance and made it different. So you can't say he copied him okay. But Justin beiber you can say he copied both of them.

  • Bob Fosse and MJ did know each other...Bob said that he fell in love with MJ after he saw the Motown 25 performance which is interesting since that was the same performance that made Fred Astaire a big MJ fan

  • Are we talking about Bob Fosse as in sweet charity? The broadway director/coreographer? I know who Fosse is because of my jazz dance class and I am an extreme MJ fan. I can see where Michael gets it now! Thriller and Rythm of life (from sweet charity) are very similar but I just wanna be sure before I start spouting nonsense to everyone in class.

  • Oh my God, this is just ART. I love Michael Jackson even more.

  • I dont think Michael specifically naming Bob Fosse as his influence would have been great for his career. Because its obvious if you watch this that Michael created his dance style directly from this. He did say he didnt invent the moonwalk. But neever gave Jeffrey Daniel from Shalamar his credit. Who taught Michael and first did the moonwalk on soul train in 1979 and Top Of The Pop in 1981. But its all good.

  • @REDIMUSICMOVIES michael never said he "invented" the moonwalk

  • Has Chris Hanson, of Dateline MSNBC, seen this yet?!

  • Do not write such nonsense.

Bob was not original, look at the Youtube video dance 20s - 70s, he had many teachers and influences. All these movements have been used dancers in the first half of the 20th century.

Jackson is not God, he took a movement that already existed and just perfected and popularized them.

Jackson added to the Dance Hall of Fame, he recognized a great dancer.

  • @TrueLife19921 THANKYOU! Bob Fosse himself did a lot of Fred Astaire inspired performing, cause bob has said many times how much he loves Fred Astaire, and Fred Astaire called MJ on the phone to praise him cause obviously Fred recognized another talent and pioneer in MJ, and Fred Astaire was heavily inspired by Bojangle aka Bill Robinson... soooooooo EVERY GREAT has been inspired whats important is that they can pioneer and evolve their inspirations.. a copycat is gaga beyonce usher..NOT MJ.

  • Does it matter if MJ copied him or not...MJ was inspired and some people these days wont watch someone dancing from 40 years ago the'd rather watch someone else... in my opinion I Like Michael Jackson dancing...anyway its not like any of this shit these day's is any original...and Bob Fosse is a dancing legend too along wwith Michael Jackson whether people like it or not...

  • I remember Beyonce saying just when her Single Ladies videos came out that she was inspired by Fosse's wife. Of course, her video has a lot of other different elements also.

  • Bob Fosse was just not a great dancer, a brilliant and "Original" choreographer. One can see MJ's classic moves were based on this dance sequence. MJ did branch out but that ballet's graceful charm which Bob showed here in clean lines and striking silhouettes were Jackson's staple images for future.

Credit should be given where it's due. He was WAY ahead of his time. Beyonce's Single Lady dancing was also from one of his dance number. Each move is testament to how radically original he was.

  • OMG, I thought I was watching MJ. He copied Bob Fosse. never knew that.

  • .l. a la mierda MJ

  • MJ used to said that he had studied the talented people, and MJ made everything that was nice much better, he was a Genius, he always said that he liked this movie and the characters so much.

  • just goes to show that MJ was not as original as people think he is.... the video is well done, and very well proves the point that i came here to make (to my OH; that jackson nicked a lot of moves from fosse) - thanks!!

  • @playgirlc shut up, you mean nothing, go home stupid.

  • @Lisette224 - lmfao - "shut up" - the last resort of the brainless. do you think that michael jackson gave a fuck about you, you silly little brainwashed twat. i am at home thanks. you, however, should be in one.

  • @playgirlc i think you missed the point.

  • @whoisarock - oh? and what point was that dear? that fosse was more original and more of a genius than jackson?

  • cenas do filme" o pequeno principe "

  • there have been a lot of great dancers but i dont think there have been any better than Bob Fosse......His performance singing and dancing to From this moment on. from Kiss Me Kate with Ann Miller was just brilliant.......

  • yeppers this is where MJ got his groove

  • LOVE IT

  • there are no great dancers with beards anymore

  • @ClearValleyFrost beards are not fashionable any more they make men look older than they are.

  • awesome job, this is fantastic...thanks!!!!!

  • bob fosse is a dancing LEGEND! for those of yu who like beyonce's single ladies dance .. he did the original choregraphy for that too .. alot of the ppl and danceS we like he originally created .. SO AWESOME! <3 <3 <3

  • amazing

  • Even the climbing in a tree part was accurate!

  • this makes me feel pretty good, even a genius like michael jackson was standing on the shoulders of giants. no one comes out of thin air, they build on everything that came before them.

  • Comment removed

  • @fabienmichael2 i haven't, but now i'm looking into it !

  • Michael Jackson is a genius, pioneer, and a creative individual with raw natural born talent, like all other past greats and geniuses and artist, MJ ofcourse drew inspiration and created his own brand, thats the beauty of artistry... to have the talent to pioneer greatness and unique merits by drawing from your inspirations!

    GO MJ!

  • "Good afternoon". LMBO at the way that little boy walked to the snake! Look at his little jacket lol

  • @Qluvz2beluved Dude, Its a girl

  • @Brotasmo Lol he does kinda looks like a girl. His name's Steven Warner (yes, I had to look it up lol). I thought he was a girl playing a boy at first too.

  • @Brotasmo wow ur right... I swore that was a Dress

  • @Brotasmo he's a child man, most children without really normal boring hair (especially if its that color) would look like a girl at that age. Unless of course you reached puberty at the age of 4

  • @ImInvariablyObscure Well i did....all of a sudden the older girls looked pretty! haha

  • Wow. I grew up watching this movie as a child, unaware of who Bob Fosse was (obviously well aware of MJ) this is the first time I've ever put these together. Amazing. Thumbs up.

  • at 4:19 TOTAL moonwalk!

  • Grandiose.

  • Bob Fosse was one of MJ's biggest idols...no surprise here...

  • @Candycane ...actually, folks have been doing the moonwalk since the 30s (though they didn't call it that, I don't think). If you can get hold of some old shorts featuring 'race music' and/or 'cutting' contests btwn lindy hoppers, you'll see it. Everything old is new again.

  • Imitation is the highest form of flattery...MJ was a student of his craft and he studied the greats...Bob Fosse...Gene Kelly...just to name a few...he studied..he learned...and appreciated what the dance had to offer, finally sharing what he learned with us...making him a great teacher himself...RIP

  • felicitaciones

  • lol

  • ah yes...I see the influences/similarities...always good to find the inspirational sources..Michael blended, made it his, made it original to him...with his own solid magic. I see Bob Fosse is wearing spatts though...have always loved those shoes. lol

  • This reminds me more of Zac Efron dancing uncontrollably through the golf course singing "Bet on It"

  • Wow, splendid. I watch all Fosse vids I could find on youtube and I like his "handwriting" :-)

  • omg i remember thinking fosse was way too greasy, disturbing, no-no for a kids film:P

  • @sdflksdfkfh

    HAHAHA I KNO!!

But since is art, deserves respect

  • He's so elegant!

  • MJ totally a rip off, moon walk and all

  • He's a great dancer no question.

MJ was influenced by him...that's clear from such videos as Bad, TWYMMF, Billie Jean & smooth criminal. Every dancer is influenced by another dancer in some form. MJ added to fosse's moves. Fosse is an organic dancer while MJ is an organic performer. Both are 2 of the greastest dancers in history.

    Love them both.

  • @tezius "Both are 2 of the greastest dancers in history."...Bob Fosse - YES, Michael Jackson - NO. Was MJ versed in different styles, no he was not. It's okay to like someone, but don't put them on this pedestal just because you like them.

  • @tezius i couldnt agree with you more

  • im in shock! Bob Fosse is a perfect dancer!

  • Just want to say I never saw this before - but clearly MJ was inspired by this. It even has the pelvis punch and a form of the backslide (moon walk). But overall, it's the stance and slightly robot-like precision. Thanks for posting! Fun to watch!

  • lmfao

  • OMG...Brooke Shields said that Michael Jackson liked the story of The Little Prince at the televised service. Could this also be why he named his son Prince?

  • @hipshimmy

He named him after his maternal grandfather ;)

  • @Madelyne093 Wow. That is not a common name to me so I am surprised. :-O

  • bob fosse, jackson's coreographer , also was a movie director .take a look at #all that jazz# and#sweet charity# ..the first is the best,

  • As far as I know, and I see no mention of him being, Fosse was NOT Jackson's choreographer.

  • bob fosse was also a movie director . see #all that jazz# and#sweet charity# .and he was straigth and a coreographer.

  • The Michael vs. Elvis is laughable. The aren't comparable to be honest. Ya'll need to stop with that mess. Michael took was what, mad it his own and made it better. What's the problem. He always cedit to those who inspired him.

  • pedifile ew so gross

  • gay

  • moonwalker 4:21

  • NO!

  • It's a moonwalk in 4:21 ?

  • this has opend my eyes so fuckn much... i admire this guy he is a perpetuator in the way dance is now...

  • @lilbodhi07 Absolutely! and not given the credit he so rightly deserves! THIS GUY WAS THE INNOVATOR!!!!

  • keeptrue56, yh you couldnt care less about the truth huh!

    Well the truth hurts!

EP WAS NOT A PAEDO FACT!! Priscilla is a living testament to that!,Remind me, just how many boys did MJ pay off!

Im not saying the guy wasnt a HUGE talent! but the truth is the truth, we know he was aquitted on the Arviso charges, thats not what this is about, MJ had prob's, that takes nothing from his talent and affect on the world.

  • Yeah! Bob Fosse as The Snake in "The Little Prince" (1974) vs Michael Jackson (1979-2009)!

  • What movie? Is it edited? What year? What is the movie about is he supposed to be a snake/serpent in a dried up eden or something!

  • @italkthetruth

its true michael could have retired at 15...

omffg i am laughing so much right now.

    haaaha

    I LOVE FACTS.

  • LMFAO @italktheTruth

    I AGREE 100%

Michael NEVER gave a FUCK about Elvis and That's what KILLS elvis's Fans..

That the Greatest Performer that EVER LIVED which is Michael was Inspired by REAL LEGENDS with Natural Talent like James Brown,Jackie Wilson,Sammy Davis,Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly

I can see why elvis stans WISH Michael would of looked up to elvis... but MJ NEVER did :)

  • @italkthetruth OMG you're my twin.

    LMAO ROTFL

its true just because mj feard of dying like you know who, his fans go around saying MJ bowed down to him, like u said, Michael looked up to people with talent, james brown fed astaire, sammie davis, jackie wilson, john lennon etc.

    not some cow singer.

  • @cametrail

I find it hilarious that you give a pass to elvis but yet want to dog the shit out of michael.

    LOL

why cant u accept that bob fosse also looked at other acts from his idols and created his own.. Do I really need to break down and list the people in history who have ALL emulated copied or whatever from their idols.

    jeeze.

  • What year is this from? I'm sure that Fosse looked at people like Sammy Davis Jr and got inspiration. That's what happens with every artist. Elvis actually said that he got his music from gospel and R&B. They said that Elvis took a lot of his stage persona from Jackie Wilson.

  • so ... girl and ah................

  • elvis did have a lot major influence from black soul music.... which some of u guys would consider "stealing" so he wasnt exactly THE innovator.

  • You should stop saying bad things about MJ. He sung like no other and danced like no other. If he studied the moves of great dancers shows how intelligent he was. Nowdays every singer think that they are it and are in no need to learn from others. Mj had respect for those who made history.

  • @daeelly which dancers did he study?

  • @HankAce314 Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly, The Nicholas Brothers. He met Fred and became his friend. The Smooth criminal video is a tribute to Fred. He took tap lessons from The Nicholas Brothers and danced with them in a '70's show. I can't say if he met Gene. When he turned 50 he said that he wanted to spent the day with Fred, Gene and James Brown (an other big infuence in he's career).

  • I am hypnotized by his moves. To see Bob Fosse dancing and to hear Michael sing...can I ask for more?!

  • That guy looks like he molests children for a living.

  • Well, to get past all the inane comments here - and back to Bob Fosse. Amazing! I am always delighted with his dancing. Looks like MJ was too.

  • MET priscilla! when she was 14, theres a diference! READ HER BOOK!!!!!!! HER WORDS, SHE' S ALIVE TO DEFEND THAT ALLEGATION!! They didnt have sex till she was almost 18, when she moved in with Elvis!! ALL IN HER BOOK!!!!

  • Mj didnt give a flying fuck about Elvis Presley despite stupid fans like who wish that would be. i know an artist who became the most successful, influential, and greatest entertainer of all time didnt bow down to Elvis as an inspriration. Sorry. MJ was inspired by people with real talent like James brown. Fred astaire, gene kelly, David ruffin, sammy Davis, Jackie Wilson... No Elvis. Mj may have feared a death like Elvis but his music career is so much more successful. I win. Go Fuck yourself

  • really, that's why he married his only child....he was obsessed with Elvis Presley.....comparing himself to Elvis to his inner circle all the time....you lose again.

  • Its better just to call you an obsessed idiot. You have no life I stopped talking about this a week ago and you still here defending Elvis like he is your real life sibling. You need help. Your a loser, a fanatic, and will forever be in denial of MJ superior career over Elvis. You can bitch and moan until kingdom come but you will never destroy the fact Mj is more influential, more innovative, loved, and successful then Elvis. Leave it alone its over.MJ wins.I win.I Talk The truth and it burns!!!!!

  • Yawn!!!! What rules did Elvis write? How to be an entertainer? No because there were many before him. How to be a international star? No because there was those too. Despite your persistent stupidity Elvis didnt write the rules because the were already written. He built upon it as did so many after and before him. Mj respected past entertainers maybe even Elvis too. He had material from many artist of pre 1960's. This is the last time I'll respond to you. Its easier to call you an idiot.Good-bye

  • @ITalkTheTruth How so?

  • @ITalkTheTruth Don't be so sensitive, the clip is an interesting observation.

  • The statue Michael had had a quote on it that said something like "If we can market a white act with black music we'll be millionaires"

Basically saying Elvis stole his entire style from the black artists.

  • @Italkthetruth I know i am to a week late, but your comment had me in tears!!!

    HAHAH you rock!

everything u said was true..wow im laughing as i type this.. HAHA.

WHY are elvis fans trolling michael related vids..

    theyre so fucking jelous,

michael is an artist.. and is superior END OF STORY!

he creates from what he loves just like every fucking one before him did.

    LMAO.

    Michael jackson won

    yall lost.

  • @ITalkTheTruth woah!!!! dude you definitely

    told him off

  • lol sometimes you have to do those things

  • @ITalkTheTruth You do know that Elvis still has the record for most records sold ever, 1.5 billion.

To even say Elvis wasn't a big star or Michael wasn't influenced by it...

    Is really really dumb.

If you don't apreciatte some tracks elvis has made you aren't human..

And Michael feared to die like Elvis, and he did, it didn't help him shit.

He didn't learn and took care of his body bad, like Elvis.

And your a fucking nub you can't take criticism from other people with friend only messages

  • @md0206 - No one can deny that Elvis was very, very popular performer, but let's keep this real. Not that I'm siding with ITalkTheTruth or anything, but regardless of his record sales, Elvis was no true pioneer. In fact, everything about him was a rip off of truly unique artist. It's one thing to be influenced by other artists and copying other people's styles in order to create a marketing gimmick is another.

  • ....

Elvis was a good looking guy with a marketable voice who was the biggest gimmick sale in the recording industry of his time. He took from Chuck Berry, Little Richard and even some of his vocal inflections were taken from others. One of his most popular songs, Hound Dog, was originally recorded by Big Momma Thornton (which was much, much better).

  • ....

MJ on the other hand ingested elements from other greats before him and literally morphed them into a style of his own. So who cares if Elvis sold 1.5 billion, or trillion, he's still a fake. About the only thing original about him were those tacky, rhinestone studded jump suits with the enormous collars. LOL.

  • @Whitebrowpriest - Extremely well written. I could not have sad it better.

  • 1.You write like a 10 year old

2.This is about Bob Fosse not about Elvis

3.You just showed how ignorant/stupid you are by believing that Elvis sold 1.5 billion records. Stop believing what the media/fanclubs rotates sometimes.

4.Anybody can fear dying the way another person did so why is that relevant?

5.For the last time... Michael jackson was'nt influenced by Elvis Presley. MJ made it clear since he was 5 who his major influence was.James brown. If you do not like it..

    5.Go Fuck yourself

  • @ITalkTheTruth Bob Fosse was also a real great and famous dancer. He was not unknown on hiw time. And he was even originally from Norway, what an honor, same country as me. I remember MJ once said one had to study the great masters, and MJ became a great master himself, making his own style. The great masters before him had inspirations from other sources again.

  • @AnaNord I completely agree. All that jazz was a great movie as well. He was extremely talented and doesnt get enought credit.

  • There is plenty of evidence of Elvis' influences. You need to read about him, he stated as such. Black performers.

  • He NEVER copied ANYBODY, of course he had influences,In R & B and Country and Gospel, he has stated that he'd never seen anybody perform like he did, and no video exists of somebody doing Elvis's stage act before Elvis..Jackson on the other had completely ripped off Bob Fosse...Elvis was a true Innovator with an Original style.FACT.

  • How stupid are you just say a lot elvis wasnt an innovator at all. Your innovator though.... of a new level of stupid. Your just obsessed elvis fan who cant take the fact that Jackson is on a much higer level then he is. Everything else you say about Elvis is now irrelevant. give up you piece of fanatic shit.

  • @cameltrail Well you might be a great Elvis fan but the truth is that Elvis wasnt really an innovator the writers /producers like Otis Blackwell , Mac Davis , Ben Weisman were the true innovators... And what ur saying is totally false, cuz what elvis did was copy black entertainers.. A true fact. " if we could just find a white man with a black man's voice" hmm...u obv don't know much about dancing. dancers are inspired dat isnt copying..

  • Rubbish..you are just repeating myths about Elvis Presley...he COPIED NOBODY ...Elvis was Elvis from the very start a truly unique artist..Elvis the BLUEPRINT of everybody who followed. show me a pre Elvis Black performer doing Elvis stage act and singing like he did....FACT is you and anybody else CANNOT..

  • little richard... james brown.... nuff sed. lmao

  • @cameltrail Ahhh. I hate to bust your bubble. But Elvis was inspired by Jacky Wilson. I too am a big Elvis Presley fan. And kind of upset that there are not alot of views on youtube with Elvis videos. But yea. If you look at Jacky Wilson's hair, clothes, dance style, even his singing voice. Its like looking at Elvis dad if he were african american. No pun intended

  • What's sad about this for me is the fact that ackson is being being hailed as an innovator and that he was original, and yet here is proof that his '80's stage act is almost completely ripped off from Bob Fosse..Elvis on the other hand has been accused of not only stealing "Black performers" music, but also dance moves, and yet, after 55 years there is no evidence to suggest ANYBODY danced like Elvis did before Elvis himself...not fair I say...Elvis remains The King.

  • And you remain fucking stupid. Get out of here with that Elvis bullshit. Listen dumbass Elvis wasnt an orginator of shit he hardly wrote any songs. He went to black clubs in the 50's trying to learn how black people danced and showed america a white-washed version of it. Listen dummy read up on your fucking idol and where he got his main influences. Look up Otis Blackwell and see where he got his singing voice from. Mj was an innovator and a recreator of music history and never denied it.

  • You're the one that remains stupid and a Dumbass...Otis Blackwell was a songwriter dipshit, and Elvis made him alot of money,Elvis was NOT influenced by Otis Blackwell, stop spreading the crap that Jacko spewed in his 2001 racist speech !! he was Jealous of Elvis and alway compared himself to Elvis,he was obsessed with him..Jackso was a talent, but an over hyped one.

  • You really are dumb listen to the audio of otis blackwell singing songs. Thats if youtube didnt already take it down. Otis Blackwell died penniless without hardly getting any credit. Its true. You talk about coping Elvis did that his entire career. Otis Blackwell was also a singer. Stop showing how stupid you are you elvis freak. Dont you dare say Mj was overhyped. He's been a star since he 5. he could have retired at 15 and all this was before OTW and Thriller. You are undeniable stupid.

  • I forgot to mention that the cartoon is from 1935.

  • You can see a sad little cat do the Moonwalk in a Max Fleischer cartoon called "Dancing On The Moon" The cartoon is posted on Youtube. The Moonwalk dance happens about three fourths of the way through the video.

  • Do you want to see the real FIRST Moonwalk? Search for BILL BALEY!!!

    Trust me...

  • MJ learned from the greats and then took what he learned to a stratospheric level. Fossey is another great like James Brown, Jackie Wilson. MJ always in my heart! The best of the best!

  • Luv it Luv it !!!!

  • Most of the great entertainers have taken aspects from past people - its nothing new. Just look at the countless singers around now who were heavily influenced by MJ...

  • I had no idea. Bob Fosse was one of the greatest choreographers ever so there's no shame that MJ was influenced by him.

  • @jdcapshew ... and a fabulous dancer as well! What a genius!

  • MJ is original u guys r crazy he invented the moonwalk and what dancer doesnt thrust their hips and point their toes MJ always said he wore glittery socks with flooded pants so people in the back of huge auditoriums or concerts could see his feet as a kid he hated not being able to see james brown's feet on tv

  • @TheXKWISIT This clip is from 1974, you can clearly see Fosse do the moonwalk near the end of the performance.

  • @tylershearrow jacko did not invent the moonwalk. jacko stole it. it was called BACKSLIDE and was created in the 50s. jacko changed the name so his retarded fans would believe it was created by himself. btw billie jean was stolen from Hall and Oates....

  • @tylershearrow No the moonwalk was invented by a LA city street kid named Casper. And presented to the world by Jeffrey Daniel from the r&b group Shalamar in 1979 on Soul Train and again on british tv show Top Of The Pops in 1981

  • Its funny to me how few of you were pointing this out before MJ died. Does it matter if it was copied?

  • @SpaceAtomic94 yeah it does...he COPIED EVERYTHING so calling himself the king sounds egocentric...

  • Everytime you write someting you just sound incredibly stupid. It would be better if you shut the fuck up. BTW you dumb fuck you should change your name so you wont look retarded.

  • It isn't just the 'moonwalk' that's similar. MJ lifted many silhouettes from this performance - one of the aspects of MJ's style that I found most intriguing as a kid - from the toe points, to the hip thrusts, to the head roll and hat tip...hell, even down to the glittered socks with black shoes. What gets me, is that the coolest thing about MJ's TV debut of the moonwalk on Motown's 50th was the set up - it appears he borrowed that as well.

  • Not bad for a 47 year old guy!

  • who said white men cant dance?

  • All "new" choreography is inspired by and built up that which came before it. That's the nature of the beast! It's pretty clear, if you watch Bob Fosse's video "Rythm of Life" (from the movie, "Sweet Charity") that MJ was HIGHLY inspired by THAT dance when creating the "Thriller" Choreography.

  • Bob fosse NEVER moonwalked... Nor anyone in the 30s... You will NEVER see a video of bob fosse moonwalking LOL.. Jeffery daniels started the moonwalk (The backslide") Michael only enhanced it

  • 4:22 actually watch something before commenting.

  • @dethlark..i love u..lolz 4:22 Bob Fosse did a form of moonwalk before MJ...and i love the fact that Bob Fosse inspired the arts all the way to Beyonce, i just respect it and love it!

  • def a thumbs up for @dethlark

  • Who cares if this influenced MJ or not, he perfected these moves and put his own touch on them. that is how he was the greatest and most talented dancer/performer. everyone- singers, dancers, actors, fashion designers...etc- they all are influenced and take ideas from others and tweak them to make them theirs.

  • I'm a huge little prince fan. I notice the similarities long time ago and wondered MJ got his moves from here. I mean the style is very similar the dance moves the hat! In the other examples there was no such style and granted he was dancing on dirt and not on a smooth floor. I'm a MJ fan as well but come on!!! Anybody can see how MJ did take his style down to the socks from here!

  • It would be much more better witch Smooth Criminal

  • Can someone upload the original video without the MJ please?

  • I love it...and imagine micheal watching this as a child and loving bob so much that he styled himself after him..I wonder who bob styled him self after?

  • Bob was influnced from African American dancers on vaudveille

i don't know if you know this but Jazz was invented from the slaves

  • Jazz was later than the slave era. It, like blues, has origins with former slaves. Blues came from communication between slaves in the field, much like spiritual music did. Jazz developed with instrumentation and communities like Harlem. Time frame and context is important. Plus, to pigeon hole everything by race defeats the importance of being brothers & sisters in this world.

  • damn, I see a lot of MJ moves in there. Well, the moonwalk was done back in the 30
