si's have the ability to smoke a lot of cars without any upgrades or mods. a stock tc really doesn't. A tc is more like an altima coupe, or a civic coupe, who are sporty looking, but not sports compacts. And if you look at the suspension of a civic si, you can argue that it is a sports car. It is not as fast as a lot of pure bred sports cars like a Z, but with basic bolt ons it can be. When you buy a civic si, you are getting a fun, not quite there, sports car.

first of all. the si can get to 60 in 6.1 seconds stock. a tc stock cant even get below 8. it requires at least i/h/e to get a tc to compete with an si. honda says an si gets to 60 in 6.7 seconds. but times have been reported as low as 6.3 (hell, my car and driver mag reports 6.5!). add a reflash and the car CAN get to 60 in 6 seconds flat (because you dont have to shift into third to get there). A tc at the ABSOLUTE BEST will get there at 7.4, and no lower. (probably going downhill or something) si has far better 0-60, so a tc WONT WIN!!! even if the si doesn't have a great run. No a tC at ABSOLUTE BEST quoted time i've seen is 7.2. That's factory trim and all. Again though man, these times you are talking about are all Dealer/Magazine quotes. No "real" racer or person with experience cares about what some smuck doing a performance test for only a few days time has to say about the way their car should perform. 9 out of 10 Mag times quote are wrong, and as mentioned, Dealers often over and under rate their own cars. Check your PM box with about 5 videos I've showed you where the tC either out launches the SI and then starts loosing ground around end of 3rd gear, or the other vids (including this one), where the tC simply pulls out the win. Nothing is set in stone my friend. I could see if the SI was pushing like 250whp from the factory vs a stock tC. But they aren't that far apart enough in performance that good driving can't make up the difference.
