impressed by the good behaviour of the kids, Akira in particular. Simply amazing how could little kids allow themselves living in such a small space without freedom to play outside and do what they want. However, I question doesn't the government of Japan provide support to single parent families? It is so unfair to the kids can't go to school and have a normal life. Kids are our future.

Trust me... there are children like that in real life. My dad was just like Akira when he was a child, he had to take care of 7 bothers and sister almost all by himself because his dad was an alcoholic and his mom was just too weak. My dad used to go to work as a child and he also went to school and did the chores, and he finished university with the help of awards and scholarships because of his good marks. There are children like these so strong trust me. :)

A most beautiful movies I have ever seen in such a long,long time. So heartbreaking. Any adult who has experienced neglect and/or emotional coldness from either one or both parents can relate to this. The pain, the despair and the sheer effort of trying to understand why he/she/they are being treated by their parents like that is something that haunts one far into adulthood.
