I've always had great admiration and liking for The Searchers, in all their line-ups. They were particularly good at covering other artists' songs. The problem is: competent as this version is, The Ronettes' original is a genuinley spiritual experience every single time one hears it.
The Ronettes' version will always be the superior version. The 1964 version by The Essex comes a close second, followed by Reparata and the Delrons in 1970.
The '60s gave so much to the teens of those days. I think all living in that era were and are very lucky to have been there. Haven't heard this 1 for ages. Tks. alot :)
Another r&b number that the searchers did was does she really care for me which was originaly recorded by ruby and the romantics on kapp records like the searchers [ that song hasnt seen the light of day in youtube yet ] .
@9erfandex If he hadn't had such a big old ego, willing to share lead vocals, he wouldn't have had to leave. Then Chris Curtis could have stayed on, and both men may still be alive!!!!
my favorite british invasion group

I saw them live on stage and believe me, it was a stunning performance. I must admit, it's not a good song.

@noahwayne Tell it like it I S Is, not W A S was, I loved 'em but, The Searchers should have been pronounced DEAD when Tony Jackson left!
