  • Fuck i wish i could get his tone!

  • god plays guitar on this one.

  • This song rocks so fucking hard. I also love Plant's singing in his high voice. You may notice that he sings in a lower voice at MSG '73 and Earls Court '75, although it isn't surprising he probably can't hit those high notes as well after so much touring.

  • Better than the studio version. THAT'S how good it is.

  • freakin sweet that this videos up again

  • he was searching for crap and found gold how is that soooo bad?

  • LZ is simply awesome

  • omg this is soooo bad lol i was looking 4 over the hills and far away by nightwish

  • lol what the fuck are you saying? "sooooo bad"? You were looking for Nightwish and found Led Zeppelin? Seems like you found so much more than you were looking for! :P

  • nightwish??? Yeah that dude just stumbled upon gold.... lol

  • CORRECT! YOU GET FIVE POINTS!

okay now which is the worst band?

  • lol...cool...right on..its the correct answer..led zeppelin is the greatest band on earth....at the moment i think worse band is jonas brothers...

  • Led Zeppelin!

  • hell yeah its fun to play on guitar!

i finished learning it today i had most of it but i had to finish it.

  • this song is fun as hell to play on guitar, and i feel like RHCP ripped off the riff for "wet sand"

    brilliance

  • LED FREAKING ZEPPELIN greatest band of all time Over the hills and far away kicks ass my favorite song of all time.

  • No...Led Zepplin is not the greatest band ever...

  • which is the greatest band?

  • i can see the music ...high... status.. yah

Very underrated to be led zeppelin's.

  • Shut up,queer!~!Fuck.

  • that.......is mildly disturbing

  • I'm not clling you wrong and I don't want this to be offensive but why is it disturbing. Who knows I could use this as a science pschology project

  • well i dont really want to hear about a guy creaming his pants. haha.

  • what the fuck is wrong with you perve

  • Why is evry1 tlakin about Christianity? This is a video of Led Zeppelin people. How about makin comments about this godly band rather than about a religion. Zeppelin rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • robert plant is beautiful.

and led zeppelin is the best band there ever was. <333

  • My favourite performance of that song synced with my favourite tour, it doesn't get much better than this!!!

  • Will you shut up about this christian stuff

  • Yes he did say Acapulco gold! Twice... I was at this show. I love these guys!

  • Which one, the Seattle show from which the video comes from or the LA show from which the audio come from?

  • Pay attention at 02:39. He sings ACAPULCO GOLD. That's a very good strain of weed. Anyway, this song is great, i love led zeppelin, i love hearing this song when travelling anywhere, and i definetly love weed.

These are gods of rock. Forget about today's new shitty music.

  • too true its quite depressing I just cant describe how this music makes me feel other than saying that its quite magical.

  • lol coud mean the same thing but he said a pocket full of gold

  • no he doesn't

  • oh i thought he said a pocket full of gold again and again and again but then i listened to my the song remains the same soundtrack on this song and he says acapulco gold but i would believe it. but in the end who gives a nice strand of cannabis about what a song is about yas long as its good, right?

  • Try listening to Led Zeppelin when smoking weed.

I can't describe how good it is. I think that, apart from sex, it`s the best thing i have ever did.

As they say: SEX, DRUGS AND ROCK AND ROLL! That's the way it should be!

  • i cant smoke weed in my house my parents would catch me. but ill bring my ipod where i smoke it every once in a while

  • well listen too zeppelin while your high and having sex then :)

that'll be like heaven on earth :D

  • this is a great video..Love led zep

  • 6 stars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This song was a small letdown to me; a lot of the magic of OTHFA was the acoustic guitar which is absent. That was my favrite part of the song!

  • ah this is the shit

  • this is 9999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999x better than the 1979 knebworth version

  • this is 2000000000000000000000000000000000x better than the knebworth versoin

  • Great video! I love this music. I LOVE Led !!!!

  • How do you do it Jimmy Page?! John Bonham RIP best drummer of all time. Robert Plant no one can do what you did. John Paul Jones you rep that Piano! This music makes me cry from happiness.

  • STRYDER!

  • Poppy Suit!!!

    Great song.

  • bonham is the best!!

  • wtf?

  • Yeah this was a weird post. Just thought I would add something different to the "they are immortal gods" comments. Just something to think about for those who believe and still love rock & roll and especially the greatest band of all time Led Zeppelin.

  • yah wtf is up ur ass they arent evel ur church made that up to gain control

  • Of course Zeppelin is not evil, but it is true that Page enjoyed black magic and was influenced by Allister Crowley (bought his house and all). They all participated in sketchy rituals and took great joy in hedonism. We all love their excesses. Sex, drugs, violence. They are just folks who did immoral things, but John Bonham died before he could repent of such acts. Maybe you believe that matters and maybe not, but if Jesus is real (as I believe) then poor Bonham paid the price.

  • they didnt do spiritual rituals, your church sed they did because they were losing thier youth populate to music and "hippism", you are the true evil one that can take songs made by a band like led zeppelin and make something evel out of it, to see evil is to be true evil my friend, and may you fins god on the sunny side of the rainbow, rather than a bunch of demons with guitars on the other, peace

  • You sound slightly tramatized. Did your parents kick you out when you were young b/c of Rock. I'm under 30 and never attended a church who could care less about Zeppelin or the non existent influence of Rock on society in the 21st century. I read about the rituals in "Hammer of the Gods" a best selling book on Zeppelin. No demons in Zeppelin just a well documented interest in black magic and Alister Crowley. No need to get so worked up.

  • did my parents kick me out when i was young becuase of rock? im 15 douchebag, obviously more mature, its like saying, i dont like that, then u say, ur mom likes that, get a life, maybe a girlfriend (or bf w/e the fuck u like to do) and stop picking fights on ppl about weither some1 likes god or satan and if u could give less of a rats ass why did you read a book about it, then start a fight with me? pls fuck off m8, get a life

  • You just sounded so angry with the "you are the true evil" and the church is demonizing Zeppelin talk. I thought you had to have grown up during and been deeply affected by the time when churches were rallying against rock music. I would never guess guess anyone born after 1980 would have heard churches condemning rock music. As for the book. Robert Plant says "I want to believe Hammer of the Gods because it has done huge favors for us in terms of aura". Good read about a Great Band.

  • spare us all please

  • guessing bonham didnt believe in jesus so why comment?? get your point from your perspective..

but that statement is exactly the same as fundamentalist muslims screaming at you that youre an infidel, you may not bomb anyone about it, but its the same ignorant lack of perspective..

i for one believe that the boys were good people who brought happieness and awareness to millions, define immortal?? what they choose to belive is up to them and noone else to decide if it's right or wrong..

    respect

  • I never thought about Bonham believing in Jesus. I'm not sure about the muslim connection, I never declared anyone an "infidel" or anything similar. Just eluded to the idea that some people die before they get the chance to repent. They can believe whatever, its their life. Their music makes me happy. I'm really digging "Fool in the Rain" lately, but sometimes I wonder if it takes a life of sex, drugs and rock and roll like Zeppelin opitimises to create amazing music and what effect that has

  • oh but you did, claiming a non-christian is a sinner by christian measures is exactly the same as a muslim judging a christian by islamic measures..

what ticks me off is how christians often are so full of themselves, how it's perfectly fine to be judgemental and proud of it because it's an accepted and well known religion.. it's one thing to criticize the art and give reason for your opinions, another to criticize a man for leading a life your faith does not approve of..

    again, respect!!

  • I never mentioned the word sin. And everyone judges everyone by some standard. You for example are judging all Christians. Saying they are so full of themselves, but what do you base that on. Your own ideas and opinions? I believe it says in the Bible to "judge not, lest ye be judged" and that "pride comes before a fall". Where are your reasons for critisizing all Christians. Where's your proof? Why would you criticize a man for leading a life of faith that you don't approve of? Respect?

  • you know some1 has to do it, how many fucking fights are you gonna start on this one video, GET THE FUCK OUT

  • I'm gonna quote myself on this one - "ticks me off is how christians OFTEN are so full of themselves" did i write always, or often?? I didn't criticize your lifestyle, i criticized your critique of his lifestyle, you didn't use the word sinner but you might as well have..

between the lines was this: "that poor guy did drugs and had sex and now he's burning cause he died before he could be forgiven by the one true god"

again, say what you think about his work, not his lifestyle..

  • 4:11

    lol "I can!"

  • lol the cuts in the film maybe because they are 2 diff sources lol audio is from 72-73 video is 77 and Immortal gods is a good term for them there music would always live on.....

  • Immortal gods? Get real. Do you know what that word immortal means? I like the song and the group but come on man! Please try and keep perspective.

Plus, if these guys were running for office, they would have to answer for all the over dubs and films splices on this vid. This was not a live performance by any stretch.

  • It's such an incredibly magical song (definitely my fav Led Zeppelin song). To see the boys rock it on stage is so epic. Performances like this make Zep the immortal gods that they are today.

  • Best Version i ever see ... Inplosions of Emotions . long live Jimmy Page !

  • surely you know i would go gay for either of them.

  • WOW I've been looking for the video to this song since I heard it on How The West Was Won. This solo is killer, thanks so much

  • i was simply blown away...

  • fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck, i hate living during this time period. today's music sucks so much fuck!!! If only i could have been born back in the 60s so i could listen to this great music and go to a concert like this!!

  • we all have our dreams

  • Led Zeppelin at their best! Wow yeah!!

  • I live for my dream and a pocket full of gold... Acapulco Gold!

  • my guitar teacher had me play this song :D

  • he always uses a cherry sunburst les paul the light is sometimes hitting it weird so it looks like its a different guitar

  • nope

  • he sometimes plays a red one... see: the song remains the same dvd

  • That doesn't look like his usual Les Paul. Is this a red one, or are my eyes going bad?

  • ya um that dude is right....this is def. a degitaly remasterd version of the song so if u didnt notice ur retarded....but i lovz the song still

    .l

    .l

    .l

    .\/

  • its amazing how it sounds almost exactly like, if not better than the studio version

  • Well, the music is from a CD, which was digitally remastered, then synced up to the video

  • don't know if you're aware...but some good bands actually sound better live!!!!!!

  • dude when did i say they didnt sound good live, what the fuck, ur an ass and i hope u die

  • ...settle down fella..digitally remastered!!!

  • Robert Plant's voice on this cuts through everything. It's just amazing. i felt like shit, and then i listened to this and it was alright :)

  • great song great band..!

  • This is the video from the 1977 tour , but the audio has been ripped from the How the West was Won live CD...this performance was from the 1972 tour.

  • xpat73 your right, this audio is from the 1973 song remains the same concert. I dont know where the video is from.

  • Awesome performance :)

  • Thank you for sharing this vid I love Zeppelin :0)

  • amazing.

  • Great live!

  • love the improv jimmy

  • does anyone know how page gets that sound?

  • Just turns his amp on and plays the guitar through that. I read it in a Guitar Mag once!

  • i thnk he got it by turnin it up so it started to distort on its own

  • WOW Robert's voice is still great in this one

  • The rhythm of the first part is a little tricky at first, as well.

  • I'm trying to learn this song on guitar, I've been teaching myself how to play for about two months. I'm just having trouble with the chords. Anyone have some tips?

  • what chords are you trying to learn?

  • The intro chords to this song. I play the hammer-ons and pull-offs just fine.

  • alright once you get the little riff it switches to D then G

but the knoxvill sounding riff im still learning

  • I agree totally. I'm not into silly video games, and am glad that zep is keeping nintendo and sony's filthy hands off their tapes.

But i have seen some zeppelin guitar hero stuff on here (youtube) such as Lemon Song. Weird.

  • the mucis is from LA 1972 AND THE VIDEO IS FROM 1977 seattle. Great performance of plant

  • it sounds like it 1972 la it might / not be

  • i guess zeppelin finally allows downloads of their studio songs, but are still holding out with guitar hero.

  • thats because page doesnt want the guitar hero OR the Rock Band producers to touch his babies..(the master tapes)

  • I have to say I think this electric in place of the twelve string on houses of the holy is just effin awesome...

  • This the live proformance from la in 1972 "how the west was one" CD

ive been looking for this one its the best version :)

  • I just waked and baked to this, it's fucking great

I got that it's about when a girl you love hurts you and doesn't wanna be with you so you get this lost feeling and don't know what to do, then you fire up some acapulco gold and realize that it's all bullshit, so you can now see the open road

    peace

  • awesome

  • and everyone says 1977 was their worst yea BULLLLSHIT!!! ZEPPELIN RULLE

  • 75 was.

  • My favorite part is at 3:07 when Jp Jones and Bonzo lock in. Jonesy starts of with that funky bass line and then Bonzo starts to lay down that groove with his right foot with a medium spread on the hats for a very tasteful compliment to what Jimmy and Jones are playing improv at it's finest!

  • i love the solo at 2:39

  • i like earls courts solo better

  • the vid of seattle kingdome ´77 combined with the soundtrack from long beach arena (or LA forum?) 1975, which is available on "how the west was won" :D I love it ^^

  • the soundtrack is from those venues, but was recorded back in 1972, not 1975.

  • ok thanks a lot :)

  • wow, this is even better than the 1975 earls court version. Zeppelin Rocks!

  • One of the best performances of this song I've seen.

On the other performances of this song, he doesn't seem to have the same vibe he has here.

  • Its a shame there is so little filming from 77 tour!

  • This was a mindblowing performance! Absolutely brilliant!

  • I'm curious to know how Robert Plant (and others) vocalize like this.

Starting with the vocals at 1:43, is this technically a falsetto with a bit of edge? or how would one classify it?

  • Ha! I've been wondering the same thing! If I interviewed Robert Plant, that's exactly what I'd ask him. From what I can tell, Plant's voice is so high by nature that what sounds like falsetto is actually just his regular voice going really high. I don't think he can do that any more and it's one reason why he doesn't go falsetto now in these parts of these songs (except for Since I've Been Loving You) because he never did back then in the first place.

  • Acapulco gold!

  • They say the magic present in Stairway to Heaven is the way in which it builds. In my opinion, this song builds SO much better.

This is easily their best song. Head and shoulders above their second best song.

  • for me, a close second to Travelling Riverside Blues.

  • Ya this my favorite song ever

  • Hell yes. Their best live performance in my opinion. This song rules!

  • FUCK this version is so good!

  • where can you find the audio for this?

  • i think its from the live cd how the west was won disc one it sounds a lot like it but it could be something different although after listening to both of them i think its the same recording

  • How the West was Won.

  • 26.05.1972, precisely. XD

  • hendrix wasnt that technical...was a great composer..

where as jimmy is much more technical and just as good a composper..

    clapton _> both..

anyway...zep are a live band...i almost hate the studio recordings...

the exact opposite of teh beatles...

  • I'd have to disagree whole heartedly with you about zep being a live band. Sure they had a few great concerts but for the most part their live stuff was horrible, especially when it came to plant.

  • grr I posted this by accident I mean't to say "especially when it came to plant and page. They are pretty much considered to be a "studio band".

  • No they aren't. They are considered a live band clown.

  • I read that the band played their best in New York and on the west coast. They called California their home base when they were in the states and put on the best shows for the big cities on the coasts and basically went through the motions for the Detroits, St. Louis' and Atlanta's of the world.

  • A studio band??! This is the most obtuse thing you could possibly have said. No rock band -without exception- performs live as skillfully Zeppelin, and those that even come close can be counted on one hand.

    You're a clown indeed.

  • Ya bands like Black Sabbath and The jimi hendrix experience

  • Both ecxellent bands, Dx, and I would add Cream and The Who.

But I put Zepp in a class of one because each man in the band is arguably the very best at what he does.

  • your right

  • Hendrix's live and studio work are obviously night and day, but I cannot believe you would say that he is "not that technical". I'm pretty stoned now, so perhaps I am hallucinating -listen the the BBC Drivin' South or Hear my Train Comin' from his blues album. And did you really mean to say that Clapton is more skilled than Hendrix or Page?! I love (early) Clapton but it seems obvious to me there are only two possible candidates for "best electric guitarist", and they're both named Jimmy.

  • Quote: "and they're both named Jimmy."

Sorry but one is name Jimi. Just thought i'd point that out.

  • You're right of course, and I realized this as as soon as I hit "post comment".

But if we really want to get pedantic and split hairs, Jimi Hendrix was, if I'm not mistaken, born "Jimmy Hendricks" and so in the strictest sense was indeed "named" Jimmy.

  • Well if we REALLY wanted to get pedantic i'd say that Jimi Hendrix was born Johnny Allen Hendrix in 1942, then when his dad got out of the army he renamed his son James Marshall Hendrix.

  • So "Hendricks" wasn't the original spelling? I could have sworn... In any case, thanks for the correction (and congratulations if you knew all this without googling it).

My point, as I'm sure you've gathered, is that I couldn't let quibblings of this sort get in the way of what I found to be an irresistibly pithy statement.

  • "jimmy hendricks" was the original spelling.

  • soldier boy up in that oh.

  • i agree with most of that except with the singing part. dont get me wrong robert has a great voice for zeppelin but over all hes not the greatest ever id say freddie mercury is overall the best

  • jimmy page is a great guitarist and everything, but jimi hendrix is better, but thats my opinion.

  • This is one of the best performances they ever put on, amazing!

  • audio from 1972, my favorite version of this song

  • one of my favorite songs from them.

  • John Bonham = Greatest Drummer

    Robert Plant = Greatest singer

Jimmy Page = One of the greatest guitarists

John Paul Jones = One of the greatest bassists and music colaboraters.

  • One of the greatist bass players??????? THE greatest same goes for page.

  • name a better guitar player... you cant

  • why dont people give john paul jones the credit he deserves? he played several instruments, and did compose some of their more popular songs.

  • he did the In Through The Out Door album
