When I first played that mission I was just in awe, it ruled so hard. Liberty Prime was hilarious, and I loved punking Enclave soldiers for long distance running along behind him. When he started chucking nukes I just about fell on the floor laughing. So awesome.

If you go through the various Fallout games I think you'll find that Ghouls and mutants (super or otherwise) actually make up the minority of the human race.

This is because most of the guys who were subjected to mutating levels of radiation...died.

The Enclave wants to "cleanse" the human race of anyone that dosnt meet their standards of purity.

As the Project Impurity optional ending shows, this means most of the people have to die.
