  • Welcom to Charleston!

  • It is for sale:

    uk yachtworld com/boats/2004/VT-Shipuilding-Sloop-2328712/St.-Barthilemy

    (spaces for . )

  • If I get the money, I will buy it! A beauty is a beauty and it is just a projection of wealth!

  • Can I ask a layman's question? If you are sailing across an ocean at that angle, doesn't everything on board slide to one side? Doesn't it make it very difficult to walk around, cook and sleep etc. Thanks for your help!

  • What a beauty

  • it's fair to call her a sloop, she's really designed to run with one headsail

  • she sails along very nicely

the loads are no problem, you just need to use the running backstays if there's a little chop and keep your fingers away from the winch drums

she should do around 24-25 kts with the bit in her teeth

  • i saw it in Olbia Two weeks ago, its an amazing boat.

  • This boat is too big. I think really anyone should be satisfied with 50-70'. That should get you around in style. The loads on this rig are unbelievable. Can you build it? Yes. Should you? No.

  • @tamiya1 Who are you to determine what should satisfy someone else? Your personal opinion is just a simple personal opinion!

  • @tamiya1 Actually when it was announced everyone said it could NOT be built, so the fact that people now think it is possible is proof that it was right to build it. It was all about pushing engineering. Perhaps you think that technology or engineering should not move forward? Why buy a Ferrari when a Camaro will do? If you don't understand why then it's probably because you don't see why anyone wants to build anything bigger, faster, stronger. It's either in your DNA or it's not.

  • Man. I did worked as security for a while as Mirabella was being built in Woolston and also at VT in Portchester where they built the mast. I remember standing on the boat when it was an open hull, thinking how cool this was!

  • haha nice pirates theme song to go with it!

  • I think this boat is not made very well. That `s right you are selling it.

  • Ah, a Perini lover. Well, I guess it's not made very well because it has fallen apart...oh wait a second, no it hasn't. It is still the biggest composite structure in the world, and 300 ft mast is the biggest piece on non-military carbon fibre in the world. But I guess it's not made "very well"....go back to you bathtubs!

  • 19 Knots! that's a fast sailing ship, something that size too. .............

number one is perini navi .....

  • I don't know anything about sailing, but I think this boat is awesome. I have no idea how fast 19 knots is thou, dumb question but how long would a boat like this take to cross the Antlantic ocean

  • perini navi are bathtubs, none of them sail well (except Maltese Falcon, and that's not their design) but they are very well made.

  • What about Parsifal III. That will properly outperform Mirabella V..

  • You're joking...right?

Only one Perini will ever compete with MV and that's Maltese Falcon. Parsifal is aluminum hull..(wow really modern!) looks like a bath-tub...just like all the other Perinis. Also if you knew anything about sailing it is basically impossible for a boat with a waterline of 44m to beat one with a waterline of over 60m. But she does look nice inside, and that's really important..;)

  • I might know a bit more about sailing than you but let's just leave it at the fact that a ketch performs better than a sloop. Waterline, true - it has an impact, but Parsifal has as well done 19 knots and because of the ketch design it will do it under lighter conditions etc. Bathtub? Have you even seen it? And, the aluminum hull in Parsifal is actually very complex - Mirabella isn't composite but a modern version of fiberglass and she's built at the Vosper shipyard, which...

  • are not as skillfull as Perini Navi are. Outside Mirabella looks, i don't know, wrongly proportioned at best. Not a pretty boat. I've been on it several times.

  • I agree, Perini's interior build quality is fantastic, and they finally built a nice sloop, called Salute. But they are not fast boats, and never will be, that is not their skill. I respect your aesthetic view....but I respectfully disagree, Mirabella looks better in real life than in pictures because she is so big, and the proportions are perfect.

  • You really are very wrong my friend.

Firstly I will bet you whatever money you want that Parsifal has not hit 19 knots. She is simply not long enough and weighs too much. Secondly Mirabella has sailed at 19.7knots. Thirdly, Mirabella's hull is made of composite matrials, indeed its the biggest piece of composite material ever made (non-military). No real sailor will admit that ketches are "faster" than sloops...they are just easier to build, maintain and operate.

  • Yeah I learnt, years ago... multihulls mate, cats, tri's. Just check out the video titled ultimate sailing. If you have not seen it yet I promise it will impress. Thanks for taking the bate!!

  • You are clueless.

  • Isn't it a cutter, and not a sloop? I walked along the dock looking over the toe rail in Grenada in 95. That was the first Mirabella. The first mate who gave us a quicky deck tour said another was going to be built. How many did the Hertz family build. Unbelievable numbers!!
