I would suggest:

(1) "second life" is not computer but unliteral for his dream world about his fair and beautiful past with a woman which was eventually illusive cause love was broken. "Killed" is unliteral for paining himself by replaying the georgeous past in his fantasy.

(2) Hes alive, so he doesnt want to be illusive anymore. So when he tells the truth about the past love, people ("the crowd") anwer with "old familiar shame" so they dont believe. He wants to return tomorrow reloading dreams and hope but without playing games but having learned more about truth and reality beeing able to live a really true love (not sure if with the same woman)
