Battery life is good? That's not what everyone said. The main complain of the 3G S was battery life when it came out (battery technology is still behind).

so all you get with this update is basic features that everyday normal phones have had forever, like sending pictures lol. i think il stay with my storm .151. i was able to do that when the phone was still shit. oh wait you get a compass!!!

and what features does the storm have that the 3gs doesn't? Blackberry messenger? I think I'll pass, I'd rather use something that doesn't black out every week for no reason. It's all in the user experience. The Storm brought nothing useful to the table (clicky screen only slows typing), the iPhone basically pioneered the mobile phone industry. Apple wasn't out to redefine the iPhone this year, their main mission was to make the iphone as speedy and quick as possible while improving camera.

A 3 megapixel camera is way more than enough. 2 megapixels is probably ideal. 5-8 megapixels actually reduces quality with a sensor that small.

It seems that apple is slowing down its innovation since Steve Jobs has been sick. I hope that Apple is now going into mediocrity mode like it was before Jobs returned.

FWIW, kohlerman8, over 5mp is when the noise really can start to become an issue. The optics are also important (N95 has Carl Zeiss glass - the iphone?). I believe the censor in the N95 is 4.8mm x 3.6mm - don't know about the 3gs.

Of course, if and when apple release an iphone with a 5-8 megapixel camera it will work better than everything else (according to the fanboys).

My point, though, was precisely as you said - Apple is resting on it's laurels with the iphone and will be overtaken.

iPhone is currently THE gadget to have but with phones like the HTC Hero coming out, not to mention whatever else, coupled with Apple's slowness to iterate and dogged following of their design ideals (no buttons, no multitasking) because "they know better" the iPhone will be an also ran in a year's time. No actually I have a Nokia N95 8GB which although it's getting old now has at least the same if not better specs than the iphone, a real keyboard, supports flash, doesn't drop calls all the time and has a better camera than the iphone 3gs.

Oh but it doesn't have a compass.

Camera and video still sucks indoors because there's no camera flash. Battery and signal still sucks....PC mag called it the best PC pocket ever. I disagree...it doesn't multi task but my smartphone does and it's a better pocket pc and a better phone. So much about PC mag's credibility...

my friend has it, and it is pretty cool. Maybe worth a 2 or 3 year contract for like $200 but not worth for the full price. Clear video editing and everything, compass is useless, but over all everything combined it's not really worth the extra money but it's a cool thing to have

iPod touch isn't the same as the iPhone my friend. iPhone recording and extra features are better. IPod touch might have similar things but iPhone has a lot more options such as 3g in it. The thing that most other phones don't have would be that the iPhone camera is so clear at camcorder that it's better then most phones out there. Still I don't think it's worth $690 - $700. I have the iPod touch 2g and I've used the iPhone and I wish I had the iPhone because of the unlimited wifi.
