As a kid in the early 80's, I lived in Atlantic City, NJ. I remember seeing washed up on the beach, a specific jelly that looked like a translucent pancake. No tentacles & their sizes varied between maybe 3 to 5 inches across. Looked like it was made of a clear, gummy bear like substance. Anybody know what kind of jelly that is? Do they sting? I was told never to touch it, but being a curious kid, of course I tried. Real fast, light touch. Nothing happened.

The stinging cells of the tentacles are the first which dry out.. But concerning Aurita I know her harmlessness, because when I spent my first holidays in Juist on the Northsea shore as 12year old kid with my schoolfriend I took a "Ohrenqualle which had freshly been stranded and put it on the belly of a 16y old girl of our holidays camp who was just fallen a sleep during her sun bath :). You perhaps can imagine her reaction :D
