Pidemo, the guy driving and speaking in the background is Jason Boggs. He is not an asshole. I've chased for 25yrs, and have met plenty of a-hole chasers (usually newbies and/or guys who have no interest in weather at all), but Jason is a hard-core chaser and a cool guy. He's a Texan...from the panhandle. He just loves chasing...like all of us hard-core chasers. I'll bump into him off and on during chase season (spring)once or twice at various off-the-wall rural places while filming. He's cool.
The poor guy in the passnegers seat sounds scared, and with good reeason, There is a reason for tornado shelters, and for the national weather service telling people to to to shelter when a tornado hits.
And yes, the guy driving sounds like an ass, so impressed with himself. If he keeps doing this crap, he wont need a plane ticket to take him on his next trip. He can fly ther naturally with Dorothy and Toto.
The weather service is capable of predicting tornado without two nuts getting in a car and taking their lives in their hands to look like bigshots chasing a tornado, I live outside of Dallas Texas where tornados regularly demolish property and kill people . I dont understand those dimwitted enough to mess with danger and take a chance which in the worst circumstance could lead to their death. Some newsmen think they are infallible.I am not impressed with these guys taking stupid chances.
It's really rare to see night time footage in a rural area where the tornado is actually visible, unlike in cities where you can see power flashes from exploding transformers and even the shadow of the storm moving across distant lights. Very difficult shooting conditions with nothing but lightning.
Aren't tornadoes this size kind of unusual in Eastern New Mexico?
that particular tonado is the one that destroyed that one dairy on the cacuhuate(sp?) road. killed over 175 head of cattle and leveled the dairy itself. other dairy's helped out in moooving the rest of the cattle.
Luckily i'm in the Uk and our weather isn't as bad as some in America. Isn't it said that in San Franciso that there will be a earth quake? And half the city will split in two? Just I heard it on some world's disaster's documentries. Hope it won't be bad for people who live there!
Hey, this was just a 1 min clip. The important part was they were on the phone with live tv & radio and helped get people to safety. This was just the best part of a video that ONLY THEY GOT.
Come on! Are you serious? Do you really think this was AMAZING footage and commentary? PLEASE! This crap was even worst than some amateur stuff I've seen. My heart goes out for anyone in the path of this or any tornado...and even more for anyone who actually believes this was great footage!
They were the only ones to get out there... again, try to shoot video at night of a tornado and then you can talk. the commentary has nothing to do with the video. they we're too busy trying to get on the air to warn people.
My heart goes out to those in Clovis. Tornados at night are some of the worst, I think. I'm thankful that there haven't been any in my little town the past few years...
I live in the Clovis/Portales area too. That was an EXCELLENT shot! Amazing work! And you were the ONLY one that captured footage of that thing. Good job, man!

That is the scariest thing ever; a tornado at night. Only the lightning showing its presence? A change of knickers is in order...

Yes, that is what true. One day a major earthquake on the San Andreas falt will disconnect part of california from the rest of the US.

Boring? It killed two people? For night video, it was great. You try to shoot a tornado at night and see how good it is.

I live in OKC metro and I think that adequate storm shelters should be made available to the masses. Is that too much to ask?

This is the weakest video footage I've ever seen. And what's up with the punk ass sounding commentary?
