I sometimes use a gain boost - but only for those thermal nuclear meltdown solo's..The Carvin X-100B also has a volume boost for solos that actually works great! However, I do not use it as I have used the effects processor for years to boost for solo's - just set the output on my solo patch a little hotter. I hope this answers your question.
Hey it would be sweet if you could have you could make a vid of just your guitarist demoing this amp without any added effects. I have this amp and you really have to dial in your tone...a very unforgiving amp for the matter of tone. you really have to get it just right.
Hey Thanks surgedfactor - however this video was from a different show than the other video(Hook the Flesh). Same place/venue just a different day/month. Yea, the sound quality on this one is better because it was a combo of a feed off the main board and a Zoom H4 digital recorder capturing the room. The other video was just the sound off the video camera.... so as you can tell there is a sound quality difference.
Yes, this is the Carvin X-100B Reissue.

Hey SpeedPickers, I agree - the X-100B really starts to breath and come alive when it is cranked and pushed. Great Amp!
